TONIGHT! The Road to Wrestlemania continues, as the buildup for Edge/Alberto Del Rio continues! Does Christian continue to have a role in this feud? Plus, more buildup for Triple H/Undertaker! I bet that buildup involves TALKING! SmackDown is NOW!

WWE - The Champ Is Here!

Here's a video package for last week's Alberto Del Rio/Christian steel cage match, with Christian winning. We also see the post-match proceedings with Edge getting the Arm-chair-to.

We go backstage to Edge complaining to Teddy Long. Edge accuses Long of favoritism towards Alberto Del Rio. Long counters by saying he's looking out for everyone's best interests. There's a no-touching policy in place, you see, and if Edge and Alberto Del Rio make contact, they'll both be banned from Wrestlemania!

Opening credits - Do You Know Your Enemy? Opening pyro! We are taped from Columbus, OH!

REY MYSTERIO v. CM PUNK
This is billed as a Wrestlemania Rewind match, as we're apparently rewinding to...uh...last year! Here are some clips of Randy Orton's match from last Monday and the subsequent fun with Randy's bus. Punk applauds what he sees, probably because he didn't have to watch Orton's wife "act" again.

We start with a lockup that leads into Punk landing some kicks in the corner. Punk chases Mysterio around and takes a headscissors to set up the 619. Punk quickly cuts that off with a boot to the gut. Punk wants a rollup, but YOU CAN'T ROLL UP REY, as he rolls through and kicks Punk in the head for 2. Rey goes for the springboard crossbody and completely misses. Punk follows up with a baseball slide and stomps away. Time to hit the abdominal stretch. That leads to a reversal sequence that sends Punk to the outside. Punk grabs Rey off the apron and plants him on the barricade. That leads us to our first ad break of the night.

We come back with Punk hitting the bodyscissors. Rey breaks the hold and knees Punk in the head. Rey tries to baseball slide underneath Punk, but gets caught. Cole tries to bait Matthews and Booker into ANOTHER argument about Rey and Cody Rhodes and they thankfully no-sell it. Punk's vertical suplex attempt is countered, but Rey runs into a crossbody for 2. Punk goes to the top rope and comes off with a crossbody attempt, but Rey catches it with a dropkick! Rey goes on the offensive with kicks, but Punk catches him and both fly to the outside. Rey hits a springboard moonsault and here's Cody Rhodes! He chucks Rey into the steel post and that'll be the end of this match.

WINNER BY DQ: Rey Mysterio - I feel like that one just started to gel. Too bad.

Post-match, Cody attacks with headbutts. Cody rolls up his pant leg to reveal a knee brace! Cody hits Rey with a running knee, taking his face out with the knee brace! Cody leaves up the ramp with the damage done, shoving the camera as he goes. The referee brigade help Rey out, but have to remove his mask to check his face.

Backstage, Christian tries to calm Edge down and encourages him to not take his match with Drew McIntyre. Edge says he's taking his match and he's also going to be in Christian's corner for his match with Alberto Del Rio.

Later tonight, The Undertaker will address Triple H.

Ad break - Wrestlemania promo

"THE RATED R SUPERSTAR" EDGE v. DREW McINTYRE: NON-TITLE MATCH
No mention is made of McIntyre's most recent storyline with Kelly Kelly and how he blamed Edge for her getting fired, so I guess that storyline's getting dropped completely. That wasn't a waste of everyone's time at all, no sir.

Edge hammers away to start. Edge runs into a corner elbow and McIntyre goes to work on Edge's arm. He hangs the arm on the ropes to the four count. He takes Edge down with an armbar for 2. Big stomp on the arm. McIntyre grabs the arm and goes up the second rope before Edge flings him off. Edge comes back with clotheslines, but McIntyre hits the arm before Edge could hit the Impaler. McIntyre tries for the Future Shock, but Edge powers out and hits a backdrop. McIntyre tries to counter with a sunset flip, but Edge floats over and applies the Edge-ucator! And that's the end of that!

WINNER: Edge - Too short to be worth anything.

Post-match, Edge makes the Spear Face! He hits the spear on McIntyre, just for fun.

Later tonight, Christian faces Alberto Del Rio.

Ad break - The Chaperone promo

Here's the Triple H/Undertaker video package from Raw in its entirety.

Your hosts are Josh Matthews, Booker T, and Michael Cole. Later tonight, The Undertaker responds to Triple H.

Kelly Kelly and Rosa Mendes come to the ring for their match. After the break, they face LayCool! SON OF A BITCH!!!!!!

Ad break

ROSA MENDES & KELLY KELLY v. LAYCOOL

Somebody shoot me!

WINNERS: LayCool - If you've seen one Kelly Kelly/LayCool match, you've seen a kajillion Kelly Kelly/LayCool matches.

Post-match, LayCool (with Layla dressed as Snooki for anyone who cares) want to talk, just to make things THAT MUCH BETTER! LayCool says nothing of consequence, which is usually the case for these two.

We go to a video package of last week's proceedings involving Kane, The Big Show, and The Corre.

Backstage, Kofi Kingston and wade Barrett walk to the ring for their match. The Intercontinental Championship is on the line next!

Ad break

WADE BARRETT (w/THE CORRE) v. KOFI KINGSTON: INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Kofi's wearing a yellow neckerchief that looks awful. It looks like he's got a hickey or something.

Barrett powers Kofi into the corner to start. Kofi turns a Barrett clothesline into a crucifix, down into a sunset flip for 1. Kofi's dropkick gets 2. Barrett recovers first and looks for a whip, but Kofi does a cartwheel instead and comes back with a flying forearm. Well, that was certainly different. Kofi kicks Barrett in the corner, but a corner whip is reversed. Barrett's corner charge eats boot, but Barrett lowbridges the springboard attempt and stomps away. Barrett applies the rope surfboard and knocks Kofi out of the ring with a running boot to the face. Barrett follows and backs Kofi into the apron. Kofi fights Barrett off and tries to come off the ropes, but runs into the Bossman Slam for 2. Barrett hits a bodyslam and sets Kofi up. Second-rope elbow misses. Barrett misses the running boot and Kofi goes to work with chops and a high dropkick. Jumping clothesline is ducked and Barrett hits a back kick to the gut. Barrett goes for the Meltdown, but Kofi floats out of it and nails a charging Barrett with his high kick counter. Frog crossbody gets 2. Buzzsaw Legdrop hits. BOOM BOOM...but Gabriel distracts the referee. Slater gets on the apron, but eats Trouble In Paradise! Kofi tries to hit Barrett with Trouble In Paradise, but Barrett BEAUTIFULLY counters that into Wasteland! That gets a 3 and holy crap! We have a NEW Intercontinental Champion!

WINNER AND NEW CHAMPION: Wade Barrett - Well, that's one way to get the Intercontinental Champion onto the Wrestlemania card! I would have thought for sure that last video package would have foreshadowed a schmozzy DQ ending, so this was a surprise!

Post-match, Justin Gabriel hits the Sternum-Crushing 450 Splash, just for fun. Barrett gets formally annonced as the new champion and Slater and Gabriel lift Barrett onto their shoulders to celebrate.

Backstage, we pretty much get a replay of the first backstage segment, but with Alberto Del Rio in place of Edge. ADR thinks Long's bluffing, but Long assures him that it's no bluff.

Coming up next, The Undertaker addresses Triple H.

Ad break - Raw promo. Triple H and Undertaker meet face-to-face! The Rock appears LIVE!

The GONG and the sounds of Johnny Cash bring out The Undertaker. In lieu of going to the ring, Undertaker stands on the ramp and delivers his promo in mid-lighting effect.

"There's an old saying that goes 'the more things change, the more they stay the same.' Triple H has convinced himself that he has the equation in how to eradicate The Undertaker. He talks with confidence in how he will defeat me at Wrestlemania and break The Streak. But this past Monday, I heard Triple H on Raw and that confidence is starting to fade into uncertainty. And soon, the uncertainty will turn into despair, because as the days roll closer to the Apocalypse, an armageddon of mega-sized proportion, he will realize that the words 'die trying' were more prolific than he thinks. And it is the words 'die trying' that will be his epitaph on his tombstone. Now I look forward to this Monday night on Raw when I get to tell Triple H all of this...face-to-face. Triple H, on 2/21/11, the night that you decided to interrupt me, your fate was decided. Your number...was chosen. At Wrestlemania, Triple H, you will put all of your accolades, all of your success, all of your fame on the line...to become...a number. And that number...is 19."

Later tonight, Christian meets Alberto Del Rio.

Ad break - Hall of Fame promo

Sin Cara promo. Sin Cara is coming soon!

"THE ALL-AMERICAN AMERICAN" JACK SWAGGER v. R-TRUTH
We take a look at what happened last Monday on Raw with Swagger killing Jerry Lawler dead with the Anklelock and Cole applying the An-Cole-Lock.

Here's R-Truth, who's here from Raw because the list of expendable SmackDown babyfaces doesn't go beyond JTG and Chris Masters. Doesn't mean he'll fare any better, of course. Remember when Truth was in the Elimination Chamber main event? Yeah, that was a month ago. Anklelock, goodbye.

WINNER: Jack Swagger - I really wish they had bothered to give Swagger this kind of credibility during his title reign last year.

Post-match, Cole walks into the ring with the mic. He raps at Truth, for fun. Swagger and Cole take a victory lap.

Later tonight, Christian faces Alberto Del Rio.

Ad break - WWE Magazine promo

Time for a Raw Rewind, to waste some more time. That leads to the Wrestlemania card rundown.

Tony Chimel introduces Ricardo Rodriguez, who introduces Alberto Del Rio. This week, Alberto Del Rio arrives in a 2011 Mercedes Convertible 550. Del Rio is missing his smile when he poses for Christian's pyro. Not too far behind Del Rio comes Brodus Clay. The main event is next!

ALBERTO DEL RIO (w/BRODUS CLAY) v. CHRISTIAN (w/EDGE)
We get a four-way face-off before the match starts, but the corner men get sent out without incident.

We start with a lock-up that Del Rio wins with a knee. He applies the side headlock, but Christian hits a forearm for 2. Christian applies his own side headlock, so Del Rio backs him into the corner and hits a kick to the ribs. Del Rio stomps away in the corner. Del Rio charges into the corner, but Christian backdrops him all the way over the top rope. Christian climbs onto the top rope and hits a plancha onto Del Rio. That'll take us to our final ad break of the night.

We come back with Christian getting a sunset flip for 2. Del Rio hits a big kick, but Christian's able to clothesline Del Rio over the top rope. Christian misses with the baseball slide and Del Rio shoves him into the barricade. Del Rio slams Christian's arm onto the steel steps. He rolls Christian back in for a near-fall. Time to hit the armbar! Del Rio hits Christian with a headbutt and stomps away. Second-rope senton HITS! That move NEVER hits, so it must be ADR's night! Del Rio goes to the mounted punches and points to the Wrestlemania sign. Time to hit the armbar again! Del Rio slams Christian to the mat and hits a soccer kick. Del Rio goes to the second rope, but gets caught. Christian brings him down with a 'rana for 2! Christian starts the comeback and nails Del Rio with an uppercut. Christian tries to come off with a top-rope crossbody, but misses completely. Del Rio tries to take advantage with the enziguiri, but misses. Christian hits the tornado DDT, but Rodriguez puts ADR's foot on the ropes. Edge chases Rodriguez, but gets wiped out by Brodus Clay! Christian's distracted, so Del Rio tries to go for the swinging jujigatime! Christian counters that with a Killswitch attempt, but Del Rio counters that with a back suplex. Christian lands on his feet, so Del Rio takes him down with the enziguiri! That ALMOST gets 3! Del Rio doesn't bother with the swing and simply goes for the jujigatime, but Christian reaches the ropes. Del Rio argues with the ref and now we get a Double KO spot, with both Christian and ADR clotheslining each other. On the outside, Edge spears Brodus Clay and grabs a chair! He whacks Clay on the back repeatedly. Back in the ring, Del Rio tries to set up for the finisher again, but gets distracted by the chair-wielding Edge. The distraction allows Christian to hit the Killswitch and that'll end this one!

WINNER: Christian - That's twice that Del Rio's eaten a pin on the way to Wrestlemania. I question the wisdom of that, but what do I know?

Post-match, Edge slides the chair into the ring and looks to do some damage. Edge winds up, so Christian takes the chair from him. Christian points out at the Wrestlemania sign. And like a good ex-tag partner, Christian decides to take the chair and whack Del Rio, himself! Edge mouths off to Del Rio over his corpse. Christian leads Edge to the back to end the show.

FINAL THOUGHT

After tonight's show, I can absolutely buy into Christian getting added into the main event. Either that or he simply gets made into Edge's corner man. I'll take either scenario.

Really didn't expect to see Barrett win the Intercontinental title tonight. So I guess next week we find out what becomes of The Corre's match. The obvious match after Monday was Show/Kane/Santino/Kozlov facing the four Corre guys, but now it's probably more likely we get Show/Kane/Kofi facing Barrett/Slater/Gabriel, since they're going to painstaking measures to keep Jackson away from the ring since he...well...kinda can't wrestle.

Until next week!

I popped huge for Wade Barrett's Intercontinental Title win. About damn time. I mean, Slater and Gabriel have been champions twice. Even David Otunga has had a title. I'm thrilled for Barrett.

Wade Barrett Tweeted tonight. This made me LOL:

@WadeBarrett Wade Barrett
I pledge to you all that I will defend the IC Title with the class and dignity that you have come to expect from Wade Barrett.

"There ain't no grave can hold my body down." And there ain't no way Undertaker's walking to the damn ring to cut that promo.

If I know anything about wrestling (arguable), Del Rio is paying his dues now and walking out of Atlanta with the big gold belt.

Poor Kelly Kelly. THIS WAS HER WRESTLEMANIA.

Awesome Christian/Del Rio match. Gives me a lot of optimism that Del Rio can pull off a strong WWE style title match with Edge.

I think you're giving Cole a little too much credit if you think that's what he was going for.

"Oh, now you guys want to see Drew McIntyre pushed? WELL TOUGH SHIT!"

Christian is awesome as always, though I'm still expecting he'll make an inexplicable turn on Edge at WrestleMania. God, I hope I'm wrong.

Friends laugh as they watch their friends hit guys with a steel chair. But a true friend grabs the steel chair from you and hits the guy himself so his buddy won't get banned from WrestleMania.

On one hand, I don't want to see Edge and Christian break up now that we finally got the E&C reunion but, on the other hand, I wish there was a way for him to get the title without one turning on the other.

Of course I'd love to see McIntyre pushed to the main event scene too (partly because I secretly love his theme song but mostly because he's awesome).

No. I'm good. He stole Morrison and Ziggler's spots and they've rightfully taken them back. He's not as bad as lotsa folks say though. He's improved just as his push died, maybe in part because he didn't have to play the boring, methodical, Hearst-Helmsleyian Chosen One anymore. I like it when he hits people with the ring.

And if Cole didn't have a recent history of repeating the same line over and over and OVER again, I might say yeah, that's what he was going for. But I don't think that's what it was here. I feel kinda silly arguing this point, and I do like Cole as a heel, but not everything he does is perfect.

And repeating a line mockingly has been a crazy-heel mannerisms for about twenty years. I don't get this weird hang-up on Cole repeating a line like the obnoxious asshole he's supposed to be.

I don't know. I didn't intend to make it a big deal. Like I said, its annoying to hear over and over again from someone whose personality is already grating, and to me, it doesn't have the same effect of other heels in the past doing the same thing (of which I can't recall any off the top of my head who react like cole). I guess that's my final take on the subject.

I didn't mean to harp on it either. I was just saying that I thought that, whether you find Cole's repetition good-annoying or bad-annoying, I think he's doing it entirely on purpose as opposed to getting stuck and not being able to think on his feet (or in his box).

At least Cole repeats different words depending on the occasion. I like Miz, but i could do with him never saying "Really? Really? Really?" ever again. It's a nice heel mannerism in the sense that it makes me hate him for throwing such a copout response into a conversation, but a bad one in that it just makes him sound like he's stalling while he can't think of anything better to say for real. Which i guess is the crux of this Michael Cole discussion. I tend to come down on the side of the people thinking that he just doesn't have much else to say, but i'm not bothered by that. On both counts it's better than to say something that sounds stupid because you haven't thought it through, to stay silent, or to Freudian slip out a string of homophobic slurs.

But it's going to make for a great babyface spiel whenever they pull that trigger. I remember a few weeks ago, Miz was actually milking it and letting the crowd play along with him. "Really?" is in line to become the next "What?" and whether that's a good or bad thing remains to be seen.

It's not at all that he couldn't think of an answer, but it's more a "I don't care about anything you say" annoying/grating dialogue.
But thankfully he doesn't do it all that much.
