Actually, what you meant to say was "the first woman nominated for VP by a major party on a presidential ticket."

Depending on who you believe, either Victoria Woodhull (1872) or Belva Ann Lockwood (1884) was the first woman on a presidential ticket, running for president. Marietta Stow was Lockwood's running mate and as such, became the first woman on a presidential ticket for vice president.

Hee. I know you were joking, but if you'd been serious, there'd be soooo many things wrong with that statement.

Anyhoo. It's a running gag, sort of, that when someone dies, my mother will tell me about it and then say, "Go ahead-- say 'who's that?'" I think I impressed her by saying without hesitation, "First female vice-presidential candidate." (I know, which isn't technically true).
