The Cavs now have two lottery picks, so their rebuild process could get a jump start if they pick wisely. Honestly, if you're L.A., why would you ever deal a lottery pick given how that team is still building.

"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." --- Bart Giamatti, on baseball

"Not to mention how much we wanted rid of Baron Davis," he may have added in my mind.

I don't get this move. This is essentially trading in one turd for another more-overrated turd. What makes this move particularly baffling is that Baron was just starting to get motivated again, having discovered the wonder of throwing up alley-oops to Blake Griffin. Mo Williams is an overrated ball hog and he's going to throw up about 20 bricks a game, so scratch about 10 potential Blake alley-oops per game.

I absolutely hate this move. If there was ANYONE that needed to be shipped out of town on a rail, it was Chris Kaman. I'm absolutely sick of Kaman coming out after Clipper losses and saying things like "Yeah, what do you expect?" and "Nobody's gonna want to play here. Why would anyone come here?" Sure, people think that about the Clippers, but if you're on the damn payroll, why would you send that message to your fanbase? Send HIM to Cleveland to REALLY give him something to piss and moan about.

Well, time to sit back and watch Baron take off his care pants again.

Mo Williams is no prize but Baron is owed a lot of money over the next two seasons and Mo is not. Chances are Williams will opt out of his deal after this season. The fact that Davis is "just starting to get motivated again" is a nice talking point about Baron Davis, I guess, but the team's front office probably isn't quite so thrilled about, "oh, look! Baron is deciding he can try earning his money again! How nice of him!" At the end of the day the move is "F Baron Davis and his salary" and that's about it. I don't think there's really much to understand. They really didn't want Baron Davis on the team, think the upcoming draft sucks, and decided they'd be better off just handing him and his contract off with a pick they don't really care about to a team that sees enough value in the pick that they're willing to take the guarantee of Baron Davis dogging it for a lot of money just to have the pick. Their source's quote of "we hope Baron works out" is really pretty funny and got a real life chuckle from me. "We know who we're acquiring, we want the pick."

In the end, I think the Clippers probably get the better of the deal, because I'm guessing they're right as rain about the draft pick, and Mo-for-Baron is a wash that if anything, slightly favors the younger Mo even before you take the money into account and the fact that neither of them are in the long-term plans of the Clippers, unless Mo Williams goes all bananas and shows mad chemistry with Blake Griffin, which I don't think is crazy talk or anything. He's actually putting up better per-game assist numbers this year than ever before, and has cut down on his three-point chucking, though that can be explained by the fact that he suddenly can't hit any, so he's just stopped trying so often.

Also, just as an aside, I really like Jamario Moon for absolutely no reason.

Read it and weep, fella

Probably the only time in NBA history that being traded to the Clippers makes one feel like they've finally hit the lottery.
