I think at this point, the question shouldn't be who should beat Taker, but if anyone should.
There is no one that I think should get the rub in the company right now. Cena doesn't need it, and guys like Barrett just don't cut it for such a big rub. Really, the only guy that has been around in the past decade that I would have even considered would have been Brock, but it's a good thing they didn't.
They only way they should have someone break Takers streak is if they can guarantee whoever does it will be able to compete in the 19 Wrestlemanias that follow. Although I would love for HHH break the streak just to see if the tears shed were enough to short out the Internet.
Absolutely not. I don't even like Undertaker, but the Streak is an institution and shouldn't end. Any rub anyone will get from it can be built with a traditional push, and the backlash from the wrong person ending it could have the exact opposite effect, causing their heat to diminish, and needlessly tarnishing Taker's legacy.
The real question is who should have ended it already, the answer is Orton. If anyone could have gotten a giant push out of this streak coming to an end, it was him. If Orton ended the streak with his RKO out of a chokeslam, it would be played on all Mania clip shows til the end of time. I am not a fan of streaks, cheered for the Giants beating the Pats, enjoyed seeing the UConn Women lose and will celebrate like I care about Nascar when Johnson loses his title. Everything must come to an end.
However at this point, I say if he gets to 20 and retires then I am ok with it. I don't think anyone on the higher level roster would benefit from it and I don't think anyone from mid-card down deserves that push. Most if not all the WWE stars are stuck in nuetral with their popularity that it would be wasted on anyone at this point in time. I could be wrong this time next year, but I doubt it. Now, if he goes for 21 then someone needs to put a nail in that coffin whether it be Cena, Alberto or the guy sitting in section 32, Row A seat 5 at Backlash. It just needs to go away if he keeps putting himself over talent especially if its a proven talent who is still young.
I'd be ok with it ending or not, although like said not really anyone who deserves it. Maybe a guy like Alberto but by next year hopefully he'll be too big for it. Unless they do something like hire Samoa Joe and book him right up to that point (maybe having his own streak for a great many months) I can't think of any point to it.
But they need to stop with the midcard guys (please no Khali). I agree with having Taker go against top guys like Cena so at least you feel there's a chance. Cena would be the dream one...pretty much the only one. Punk & Rey maybe Miz...after that you're pushing it to the likes of Sheamus.
Not at this point. Maybe a few years ago to Orton, or maybe even Cena. Those are guys who would deserve it, guys who were destined from greatness. There are no young guys on the roster now that I think would be worthy, especially since the mystique of the Streak has exploded over the last 4-5 years

didn't undertaker dress down punk for not dressing the right way when he was champion or something? or was that jbl? the cm punk revenge tour could continue on.. and i like the idea of him having his own list and personal agenda. the match would be better AND i think that might put punk onto an even higher level in the eyes of casual fans.

Hindsight being 20-20, the best time to break the streak would've been against Cena at Wrestlemania 23. Twenty years after Hogan/Andre, you would've had the new Hogan against the new unbeatable giant. Cena would've gone on to be...well, John Cena, and thus the history books would show that Undertaker lost only to the generation's top guy. Had 'Taker lost then, it's also safe to predict that he and Michaels would've split their series over the last two years.
The trouble is, as some have pointed out, you never know who will go on to be the next big WWE megastar and who will be the next Brock Lesnar and flame out due to injury, leaving the company, or not being over anymore. It's for that reason that I think Undertaker's streak should remain intact.
If Cena-Undertaker does happen at WM28, imagine how much more epic it would be if Cena was riding an unbeaten streak of his own. Cena's only lost once at Wrestlemania himself -- that throwaway job to Randy Orton in the triple threat at WM24 looms large in retrospect.

Unless they make Taker a monster heel again -- I mean Ministry-level evil -- I don't see who they can throw at him who will get more than half the crowd support. If the streak is to end (and I'm not fer it; I'm agin it), it needs to be by someone the majority of the audience will back, and that person needs megaface appeal supported by a megaface angle. That mean Taker has to back off the cool-evil attitude, such as when he provoked Flair.
The match has to have conflict that can at least compete with the intrigue of the streak. Lately, Taker's been more of a force of nature than a character, neither good nor bad, simply focused in his gimmick. He can't lose as a face. Goody-guy Taker losing a blow-off match AND the streak at WM just sounds blasphemous.

I think you'd have to resurrect Eddie Guerrero or Owen Hart to get the crowd onside for the streak to end. And even then you'd be pushing it. Maybe Hogan in Toronto could get away with it too.

If its in Toronto then depending if the opponent is Canadian or some over heel, he will get a mix reaction then you can pull the trigger on ending the streak. In 2004 at SummerSlam, I was there for the wave during his match with JBL. I don't think he is as loved in Great White North as he is loved in the US.

Oh, gosh I remember watching that wave...oh man was I rolling watching that. I really wanted to see JBL & Taker react to it for that what the heck is going on moment.
As for the streak, I'm about 50-50. I could see where its great to keep it intact. I can also see where it could potentially be good to see it end. Yet I agree with most here, who would deserve to end a streak like that? I don't think I can call that.
I don't think there is ANY reason to end the streak. It goes along with Bruno's 7 year title reign as something that should just be allowed to live forever. There's nobody that needs the rub, there's nobody who's credible enough to make people even think it COULD happen, and really why build up a fight at WM with somebody nobody really expects to be able to end the streak. At the VERY least, if they are going to bring the streak to an end, it has to be against a chicken shit heel, who somehow manages to end it via Taker DQing himself. That's the only way I could see it being even fathomable.

Ruining a 20-year streak with the same old wrestling bullshit that everyone is tired of is the worst idea I've heard in a good long while.

Agreed. If Undertaker's streak ended by DQ, people would pelt the ring with garbage.
And not in a good, "I can't believe Hogan joined The Outsiders" way. In a "David Arquette won the World Title, I can't believe I paid for this shit!" kinda way.

There's one guy that would be credible enough and that's John Cena. Therefore he should be Taker's opponent at next year's WM. He - of course - shouldn't end the streak then.
