Deion Sanders and Marshall Faulk will lead a class of seven players entering the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.

They're joined by Shannon Sharp, Richard Dent, Ed Sabol, Les Richter and Chris Hanburger.

(Note to ops: Didn't see a Hall of Fame logo; used an NFL one.)

I still can't believe Chris Carter didn't even make it to the ten finalist table and not one of the WRs made it in with a class of seven. I guess Harnburger and Richter were veteran committee guys or older players who finally got the votes. I still take Bus over Martin. The HOF ceremony will need to be six hours long just for Deion, Sharp and Faulk.

I distinctly remember on Inside the NFL a few years back Carter grilled someone on the committee as to why he hadn`t been inducted yet, which probably put a bitter taste in the committee`s mouth.

As popular as the Bus is/was, he never really screamed HOF to me.

So two of these guys were on the 2000 Ravens...

Which two? Deion was there in 2004. He was on the 'Skins in 2000.

His most memorable play is fumbling on the Indy goal line and almost giving up a Super Bowl berth.

The NFL HoF has one of the weirdest systems I've ever seen. It's hard to take seriously. All Hof's have their flaws, but football seems way to complex and limited for guys like Ray Guy or Willie Roaf to get the proper notice.

I still holdout slim hope for Cortez Kennedy.

I might be screwing something up with all this code because I tried to post this in the 2011 HoF thread and it is coming out as a blank post, so I will try it here. Merge if you like or keep separate.

This HoF class has really started a battle of the journalists and voters. Jason Whitlock wrote this column about how the voting system was broken Click Here (msn.foxsports.com). Which led to Len Pasquarelli calling Whitlock an 'idiot'Click Here (profootballtalk.nbcsports.com). Here's one member of the 44 person panels take on the controversy, which I think is the best rebuttal so far by a member of the committee Click Here (profootballtalk.nbcsports.com)

Someone who has been awfully quiet (which is amazing if you have ever seen his twitter activity) on the subject and is a major player in the whole thing, Peter King, tweeted this

RT @LukePWright: Comments on Whitlock's HOF selection article? ... Will respon in mmqb. Just read it. Off for a few days.

It should be interesting to see where this little debate goes from there. I'm going to have to agree with Whitlock on this one. He made a solid case that I think has scared a lot of the members on the committee. I'm not sure there needs to be 100% transparency, but the system really is flawed. Hopefully, this will get the ball rolling for some change, but if nothing else I always enjoy mud slinging between writers.

Edit: if this isn't merged can someone please slap and NFL tag on it for me ... and yes I'm done screwing up your board for awhile.
