Glad you brought up Kaiju Big Batel. KBB sells itself as a pure comedy show. Now I'm not the most knowledgeable expert on Chikara, but don't they run serious programs as well as the comedy? If they are pure comedy, it doesn't matter, but I stand by my point if they are trying to mix stuff like this with angles they are trying to sell as "serious".
Goofy comedy involving a midget dressed as a leprechaun and goofy comedy involving hypnosis/a mass dance-off between wrestling opponents aren't exactly worlds apart.
The humour on WWE works for their target audience. Kids eat that shit up, and placing it in a vacuum it's no more stupid or goofy than this kind of stuff. But one is an insult to wrestling and the other is hilarious and all in good fun.

Everyone also knows DEXTER is fake. HOWEVER, this would not excuse the showrunners deciding that Michael C. Hall should work in a dance number during a murder then discuss with the corpse how well they think the scene is going. Could they do that? Sure. Would it be interesting? I guess. Would it pretty much nullify the show as a piece of engaging drama? Totally.
BTW, Dexter should totally do this. And I'm sure Michael C. Hall would go for it. It's not like he didn't do it before and it was AWESOME:

I guess I'm a bad person because I HATED this hypnotizing gimmick, but I loved the Zombie on ECW making fun of the SciFi channel.
I guess it's all about context for me. If I'm at a show run by a company that is 99% of the time trying to be grounded in some sort of reality (like WWE/TNA) then a spot like that would drive me crazy.
If it were a different company that was the other way around, I'd be in the right frame of mind to enjoy it.
It remind me of the time I was dragged to see "Life is Beautiful" in the theater. I was told it was a comedy and I kept waiting for the funny to start...then the Nazis showed up and it was getting less and less funny and I was getting more and more annoyed. It was a good movie, but I went into it expecting one thing, and got another.

Ummm, what? When the hell has he wrestled in the last year? And where, for that matter? Surely they're not counting convention shows, are they? EDIT: Also, no Robbie Brookside? You've got Tom fucking Brandi, but not Robbie Brookside?
