I know there's some fans of English sitcoms and this transatlantic one seems like something some of you might be into. It's being broadcast on BBC and Showtime and is up to the fourth episode. I don't know how many of you get Showtime or have access to BBC stuff. The first episode started a little slow but was still enjoyable, with an excellent performance from Richard Griffiths, and since Matt LeBlanc has become more involved it's picked up even more.

I appreciate how he's just kind of a dick, they haven't gone the 'Extras' route of turning him into a cartoonish imbecile or total douche.
My mum's been enjoying it too, but had this to say: "I've noticed they've been using the C word quite a lot on TV recently". It's nice that there's still one (non-racial) word out there that still has the capacity to cause shock when it's dropped into dialogue.
I set up season passes for Episodes, Californication, Shameless, & Portlandia. I started to watch Episodes, thought it looked good & that I wanted to watch it when I could pay attention to it. So they're sitting on my DVR.
(I watched the first Shameless, & wasn't hooked, so deleted that season pass. I can watch Portlandia without paying much attention -- it's cute. And Californication requires a certain ... mood, to appreciate Hank Moody.)
When I heard there was to be a US Shameless I automatically assumed it would be a difficult and terrible conversion even though I'm not an enormous fan of the original (I've only seen the first series and a few scattered episodes here and there). I quite like William H. Macy though, so was still tempted when I found out he'd been cast as Frank.
