When this aired last night, I was just coming back from the kitchen and wondered if the kids had chagned the channel, but then immediately thought they might be intro'ing someone new (or bringing back, etc.) Sho nuf, that's what it was. Here's the vid:
Now, my first thought was Taker, until I saw this over on DVDVR:
It DOES say that they're pretty sure this is fake, but geezus a possible fake that gets ya thinking.
First: maybe that is Sting in the vid and they're bringing him in for WM. If so, what does he do?
Second: Taker vs Sting in HotLanta? Sting's hometown? You think UT wouldn't give the ok to lay down for Sting? The biggest dude there ever was in WCW? (Besides Flair) Being beat by Sting in his home would not disgrace Taker at all, BUT, I could see Vince maybe having a problem with his biggest creation being beat by DubbayaSeeDubbaya's biggest creation.
I know this is all pure speculation, and Z, if it's to much borderline fantasy booking, close it down, but when I saw that pic of Sting in the WM poster, fake or not, it was the most excited I had been in a long, long time, especially with that vid last night.
It's a total fake. The hand if the JOker's from one of the DARK KNIGHT posters complete with playing card. The card is almost exactly the same, they've just photoshopped 'Taker over Batman and "Streak" over "Joker".

Speaking of which, can we get a pool going as to which pop-culture character Rey will swipe for his WM costume? We've had Spider-Man, the Joker, and KISS, and others I'm sure.

Undertaker's still scheduled to face Barrett, with Undertaker/Kane vs the Corre as the alternative if he can't do a singles match.
Undertaker/Sting at WrestleMania is a good sounding idea until you start to break it down. Undertaker's going to try but he's not going to be in good shape. Sting hasn't had a match in just about as long and probably won't be as motivated. Undertaker's not losing The Streak to Sting (or anyone), so why waste a possible one-time-only appearance with a sad loss? Much better to have him in a Ricky Steamboat role, reminding people why they liked him in the first place. (Or, maybe Sting seconds John Cena against the Miz and Alex Riley and Lawler gets an actual match?)
This is a slight spoiler for Thursday's TNA: Eric Bischoff did an interview where he said Kevin Nash, Booker T and Sting would not be appearing. That whole thing is odd, but Sting being lumped in with the other two makes it seem like something's up. I still 02/21/11 is Undertaker and not Sting - you need get the word out to the casual long lapsed fans that Sting is out, they're the whole point of bringing in Sting. Those same fans have no idea Undertaker is out in the first place, this bit is just directed at the people who weekly already.

I'm not saying I don't believe Bishoff, but that's a really weird thing to say on an interview segment for TV.
Whenever you say "Person X will not be here"; that's almost always a good indication that they will be there- particularly when a heel says it. Odd... I can't think of how it progresses the angle for him to say that.

Uh, Mark Zuckerberg?
We could see status updates on the tron throughout the match.
Matt Hardy and the V.1 gimmick was kinda ahead of it's time with it's tweet/update style "Matt Facts". "Matt only likes mustard on his hot dogs..."
2. There was a local advertisement for the 2/21/11 show that made it's way to youtube that hyped two things: a Cole ref'd Cena/Orton vs Punk/Miz tag match, and the return of the Undertaker. The video has since been pulled, but I watched it earlier and it def straight out said Taker would be retuning on the show.
edit: Meltzer just updated the Observer front page with those two facts, and that sources at TNA say Sting hasn't re-signed and they assumed WWE got him.
Well, I guess the hype for Mania will be based on how many former WCW guys WWE can get before TNA realizes they are gone. At least the new "They" storyline is moving in a better direction.

All it took for a better direction was the awesome business practice of planning your "company saving" angle around guys not under contract.

You'd think suddenly losing TheMonsterMeng to the Royal Rumble would have stuck in their minds.

What happened at the tapings last night was caused because not one, but TWO major pieces of their company wide main event angle got signed by their rival company.
You cannot tell me that this does not reflect VERY poorly on management. ESPECIALLY because it happened before. This is totally bush league on all fronts to the point where several people probably can't take TNA seriously, as even several indie feds know better than to plan main event angles with unsigned talent.
But hey hey, MAKE IT A WIN, right?

It is? Where do you get that impression from? Scott Steiner is not exactly a great start to the stable.
At the TNA taping on monday the angle took a turn towards the "not guys that showed up in the Rumble". A good direction, but obviously plan B (and it made Steiner's return pointless...so expect him to join Immortal)
It would make sense for Undertaker to return at that Raw. Having him return on live tv and stare down anyone is always good for a crowd pop.
But the promo looked really cool and I don't see why it couldn't be someone else (get 2 pops?!)
I was going to say they've never done promos like that for UT, usually just the spooky stuff on the tron/in the arena. But I think there was the "i'm scared...he's here!" thing with the rope jumping girls, which was also a set of vignettes.

That signaled the American Badass version of Taker (youtube.com). I wonder if we'll see another tweaking of the gimmick heralded by this/these vignettes.
A full-on Western version would be closer to his original look (dailymotion.com) with the formal suit pieces and cravat.
