I see your point, PalpatineW, but here's where I'm coming from: if a politician is in office and says something, it's worth paying attention to because that man or woman is in a policy-making position. They actually have some influence over legislation. And they are representing somebody, so at least those who are being represented should pay attention.

A celebrity, on the other hand, is not in a position to legislate. They have opinions, but their opinions are really no more important than mine or yours. But sometimes it seems like their opinions are treated with more importance. Why should I care what Alec Baldwin thinks about the war on terror or about Bush? Yet, he states an opinion and there it is in the newspapers. I just think sometimes we treat celebrities too seriously. So in this regard, yes, it's better to debate the issues than the individuals.

Why should anyone even listen to Alec Baldwin, in any respect? But anyway... I'm not talking about how "important" Ted Nugent's opinion is. I'm just talking about considering the validity of his ideas. Whether we vote the Nuge into office or not, I still find his comments worth listening to. Not because of who he is, but simply because of what he's saying. (I definitely agree with you that people take celebrity opinion too seriously, though; see Fonda, Jane, and Streisand, Barbra).

To be fair to us lefties, see also Schwarzenegger (sp?), Arnold and Eastwood, Clint.

Hey...according to the liner notes from the WWF-licensed compilation album Steve Austin's Stone Cold Metal, Kerry Von Erich (RIP) used to use "Stranglehold" as his entrance music in the old Dallas Sportatorium...didn't he?

Doesn't have a lot to do with the love-or-hate-Ted-Nugent-the-hunter thread...sorry.

The notes said Kevin I believe.. and from the Sportatorium matches I saw, Kerry used something else.. just can't put my finger on it.

Wasn't it "Modern Day Warrior" by Rush?

That would be "Tom Sawyer" by Rush. And yes, I believe Kerry used to use it.

Incidentally, here are the results of the latest CNN/USA Today/Gallop poll. I don't know that this means anything, but it contradicts all those 11 point lead stories, so I thought I'd post it as a counter-point.
