Well, this started out looking like a really boring rout, then it got interesting, then it got REALLY interesting, and by the time it was done, Seattle was moving on (and still under .500) and we weren't gonna have to hear "defending Champions" for the rest of the NFL season.

I found out too late that the Saints had picked up special teamer Ramon Humber (#54), who is the son of one of the guys in my building at work - whose name is ALSO Ramon Humber, but pronounced differently than the guys on TV were saying it. Now you know.

Is it really a SHOCKING upset? I mean, you're SUPPOSED to win at home, and like it or not they ARE a Division (as opposed to defending) champion.

Finally, I had never heard of Mike Mayock before tonight, but I really never wanna hear him on an NFL Playoff broadcast ever again.

This is exactly the kind of reason why I wish sports gambling was legal in California.

A 5-point swing? I think it's very reasonable to argue that this is a much different result if it's at the Superdome, so as much as the talking heads would argue the former, I think you'll at least a few cases made for the latter.

The only thing a true Falcons fan could possibly enjoy more than a Falcons win is a big Aints loss, so obviously this game was absolute heaven for me.

I would be one to argue that this game is an argument for why sub-.500 teams shouldn't get home games. I'm not sure another sub-.500 team would get that kind of home field advantage, but if anyone is going to reap the benefit it sure would be Seattle with their always raucous home crowd. Then again, it isn't exactly a Herculean task to beat a wild card team at home when their first FOUR running backs are injured by the end of the game.

On another note, can this be chalked up to the Madden Curse? Most interceptions in one season of his career, didn't qualify for the playoffs until the next-to-last week of the season, and then suffers a historic (and somewhat humiliating) loss in the first round of the playoffs to a losing team. Might be a stretch, but I expect to hear those arguments made as proof the Curse is still alive.

Marshawn Lynch just stiff armed another Saints defenseman.

Huge upset, and that run, that was amazing. Hopefully that's the spark Lynch needs to reignite his career.

A massive decline is enough to justify the Madden Curse. Ask Eddie George.

Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

It's almost poetic that the guy that Lynch stiff-armed was Tracy Porter, who had the title-clinching pick-six of Peyton in the Super Bowl last year. Just goes to show how horribly New Orleans's fortunes turned for the worst.

Lynch's run, incidentally, still only makes second-best for the football season in my books, with #1 still being Cam Newton running over multiple LSU defenders on the way to the house. (Nothing else touches those two, though.)

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

It's kind of a shame the Saints lost to a 7-9 team, because now all anyone wants to talk about is the Seahawks instead of the fact that the New Orleans Saints were not a very good football team this year.

The team that played better won today; the Seahawks' home crowd was not the reason the Saints didn't know how to tackle running backs or cover wide receivers.

Its more disappointing that we will probably have to see Seattle get the shit kicked out of them in the next round. The Saints' defense was God Awful. The Saints' offense did everything to win the game minus going for 4th and 1 at their own 40 to win the game. Seattle showed up today, half of the Saints didn't. I see defensive picks in the Saints' future draft. I just hope this win doesn't lead to more college football coaches to the NFL.

Really? I just know him as the NFL Network draft guru (their Mel Kiper), so I was surprised to see him draw this assignment with Tom Hammond. I didn't hear much of him because I had the game on mute most of the time as I was on my laptop, but I'd heard he got good marks for doing Notre Dame games on the Peacock.

"That's a lot of big, sloppy bodies bangin' each other." is easily the best description of a goal-line situation.

The Notre Dame games got better due to attrition. Chris "I hate ND, but I sent my kid there" Collinsworth being gone helped out a lot. I thought they did an ok job, it can't be any worse then Buck/Aikman or Phil Simms.

I don't think I have seen a run that impressive since Barry Sanders was doing his thang.

The Seattle fans came up as big as anyone showing once again why the team retired the number 12 in their honor.

Now that they are playing with house money they are going to be dangerous no matter if it's Atlanta or Chicago up next.

New Orleans not being able to keep a half way competent running back on the field was a real killer.

Decided to pull up the Newton run again and compare it side-by-side with Lynch's, and I stand corrected: Lynch's is the better run, no question.

As with any great play, it's been "TechmoBowled": http://cosbysweaters.com/2011/01/09/marshawn-lynch-67-yard-td-run-tecmo-bowl-edition/

We had just emptied our house of family who had joined us for my now 7 year old daughter's birthday party and I was beginning the unwinding process with a beer as Marshawn turned on "Beast Mode" which I was screaming so loud during the run, the next door neighbors could probably hear it.

Had to sweat out the next few minutes as I know how bend and a lot of times break "our" Defense is, but man, did that ease the Kentucky football and basketball losses, which I didn't get to see much of due to those aforementioned birthday festivities.

Hopefully the Seahawks get into either Chicago or Atlanta a couple of days early like they did when they invaded Chicago and got a win earlier in the year and not the day before like they usually do, which has traditionally not worked well at all for that cross country trip and an "earlier" game time kickoff.

Good first year for Carroll in Seattle and with a very young team to build with, I'm certainly hoping this is the beginning of good times again.

For what it's worth, he's also the analyst on all Vikings preseason games and has been for the past several years. Which you, as a resident of Minnesota, should know, Chris.

I don't peg Z as someone who watches pre-season football, let alone a Vikings pre-season game. :-)

Our D got old and rusty real quick. Makeover the D and we will be back. Did I mention our Defensive cord will interview for the Broncos H.C. job? May not be a bad choice as Greg Williams does come from the Buddy Ryan system.

I do think the media has a lot to do with building these star coaches. They have a great season maybe go undefeated or lose one game and their the next Knute Rockne. I am not entirely sold on Urban Meyer even though ND and Florida are.
