From TNA Wrestling:- Kazarian defeated Jay Lethal to become the new X Division Champion - Madison Rayne defeated Mickie James to retain the Knockouts Championship, after interference by Tara - Beer Money defeated The Motor City Machine Guns to become the new Tag Team Champions - Bully Ray won the Street Fight vs. Brother Devon after the referee disqualified Brother Devon for beating Bully Ray with a chain - Abyss (subbing for an injured AJ Styles) defeated Douglas Williams to become the new TV Champion. An injured AJ interfered in the bout, hitting Williams with the title and costing him the bout. - Immortal's Mystery Opponent for Rob Van Dam was none other than Matt Hardy, who made his TNA debut and defeated RVD, thanks to a controversial decision by referee Jackson James - The MMA Exhibition between Jeff Jarrett and Kurt Angle was thrown out after Jarrett got disqualified. After the bout, Jarrett bloodied Angle and injured him - Mr. Anderson defeated Matt Morgan to become the #1 contender to the World Championship - After the bout, Eric Bischoff announced an exhausted Anderson would get his title shot immediately against Jeff Hardy! The bout saw interference by Matt Morgan, Mick Foley, Ric Flair, Matt Hardy and RVD! HOWEVER, in a shocking upset, Anderson beat Hardy to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship!
This was a better than expected show after the news that A.J wrecked his knee.
Kaz vs Lethal was a very good opener. Madison Vs Mickie was not bad but felt like it went on too long.
MCMG Vs Beer Money was fantastic. The was an extended heat segment on Shelley(probably ten minutes) , so it was less spot heavy than the previous matches still fantastic.
Bully Ray vs Devon was better than expected. It was a good intense brawl. Ray looks like he's lost a good amount of weight.
Abyss Vs Williams was a huge step down from what Styles-Williams would be. I was hoping Styles would accidentally cost Abyss the match and it would lead to his turn. Guess not.
Matt Hardy was the mystery man as expected as RVD demanded a match with Hardy backstage and Bischoff gave him one. Matt looks like a cross between Raven and Tyler Reks. Matt looked very rusty tonight. The seem to be heading for a heel turn for Bischoff's kid as he saw Matt's arm under the ropes but not RVD's leg under the rope after a twist of hate.
Angle Vs Jarrett was more a angle than a match. Angle bladed on camera. It looks like we're getting Karen Angle back on TV.
Morgan Vs Anderson was better than I expected. I had very low expectations going in. Bischoff booked Anderson-Hardy right after and it chaotic match with Morgan clotheslining Hardy outside the ring, Foley taking away a chair from Hardy and Rvd running off Matt. Anderson kicked out of a couple of twist of hates and a swanton and beat Jeff with the mic check. TNA really left money on the table by not advertising a Hardy title defense before. They could have said that Jeff will taking on the winner that same night on Impact, that way stacking the deck in Jeff's favor. That said, at least they got the title off of him.
Why on earth wouldn't they build up to a title match/title switch at the next PPV? Or if they were absolutely DYING to get the belt off Jeff, why not at least set it up for an episode of iMPACT! instead of hot-shotting it at a PPV that nobody bought? What the hell is wrong with this company?
It's an absolute shame that Styles is out for a prolonged period. That Styles/Williams match should have been the highlight of this PPV.
I'm going to give Matt Hardy the benefit of the doubt, hoping the part-time schedule will help him get back in shape. He was in shape tonight, though: definitely round. And what is up with those dreadlocks?

Here is the extremely weak counterargument: By doing this, they are demonstrating to people that they need to purchase every ppv because they have no idea what they could miss if they don't purchase it. How can you doubt the business model of a company that so thoroughly dominated the renewed Monday Night Wars last year that they moved back to Thursday in order to keep Vince in business and thus allow them to have a farm system they can grab from when one of Vince's wrestler's is worthy of moving up to TNA?
They brought in an EX-WWE because it made sense since he is the real life brother of the former TNA champ and when motivated a damn good wrestler. I don't know about going over RVD, but Rob hasn't done a lot of jobs since he came to TNA, so Matt winning is more of a surprise then his debut. Granted, I can see him and his brother flaking out over the next few months, but it does make sense. Also, TNA has little or no homegrown talent anymore.
I am not so sure what the point of taking the TV title off Doug Williams and throwing it to Jobber to the Stars Abyss is. It makes no sense as well as letting Madison win. Minus Anderson's win, all the heels won last night, so maybe Anderson's win was a reward to the crowd. I do think they should have stated after the number one contender's match, they would have to face Jeff. Yet, Eric is a heel GM and having them "cash in" their title win without knowing it is a heel thing to do.
TNA pulling this off actually follows what Lance Storm has been bitching about in regards to the PPVs ie that nothing really happens. You spend $30 to $40 on an event and the wrestling is slightly better then a Raw or Smackdown match then you get one title change and thats about it. All the surprises and storylines are done on Raw which is really probably only 10 cents a week depending how many channels you get and how big your cable/satellite bill is. I have no problem with this. It gets the belt off of a guy who is more then likely headed to jail. It puts the belt on a guy even though WWE found him, had little or no faith in him and has proven he can get over. I don't know if it will change ratings or buyrates, but it was a good move. The rest of the card, I question. Too many DQ/No Decisions for me. It is kinda funny we all thought AJ would turn face and the TV title would be safe in the face camp now its Jeff who can turn face and the Heavyweight belt is safe in the face camp.

I looked at Twitter around 10:30 last night and "Tyler Reks" was trending. My first thought (as when a random celebrity is trending) was, "Did he die??" But no, Reks was trending due to Matt's new look...yet Matt himself was not. Oh, Internet...

Amazing all the bumps he's taken and he's stayed healthy. He has really missed no time, and playing with his kids could put him out long term.

!!! Just curious, did they show her last night, or is this just assuming the next logical step in the feud? I'd be shocked to see her appear given the sordid real-life history there. Then again, with Hogan and Bischoff involved....

Last night Jarrett mentioned that there will be three guests at his MMA retirement party and Angle knew who the third person was. From TNA Wrestling.com Impact's preview: Jeff Jarrett plans to announce his departure from MMA competition, and will do so with his wife Karen by his side! What will happen with Kurt Angle, Jeff and Karen all in the same arena? Don't miss it on Thursday night!
She didn't appear, but both Kurt and Jeff made a point of bringing her up. I guess TNA's confirmed her as appearing now.
Kurt blading on camera was made even more embarrassing by the fact that it was for a handful of JJ's wussy looking, MMA glove covered punches. Not even like a bunch of them from a mounted position or something, but like standing up, regular match style punches. If those are gonna be what it takes to bleed a gusher, everyone else on the card should have looked like Taz at Hardcore Heaven 1999... but it did get heat so what do I know.
I do love the Double J Double M A gimmick though, even if they can't decide whether or not he knows what he's doing.
