This episode started off with one of the funniest manatee jokes in a long time with Brian and the neighborhood dogs. The opening segment, overall, was the funniest this show's been in a while, especially with how subtle they were with Chris's crotch fire.
Brian: Ah, it's a period joke. Peter: It's a period period joke. Brian: Ha haaaaa.
The only complaint I had with this one is that it got really heavy at the end with the idea of Brian killing himself in a kidney transplant. In fact, the wheels pretty much fell off at that point. Barring that, this is one of the better half-episodes of the season and (for the first half) got back to actually being funny. And funny is all I want from this show.
Now if only they could deliver solid humor for a full half-hour.

"This is the worst kind of discrimination - the kind against me!"
I'm really curious to find out what set Zed off about this episode. If it was the Chris-Meg-Obama B-plot shit, then yeah, that was horrible. But I blocked that out and had a hard time remembering it when I was trying to figure what was so bad about this episode. But the A stuff was aces.
That last commercial break was strangely timed. I was beginning to think that they were going to do something game-changing.
I finally got to see it and I thought it was fairly well done. I also thought they were going to kill off Brian as well and maybe have Stewie go after Peter instead of Lois for the rest of the run. The Obama B plot was not the worst B plot of the season mainly due to the fact the A plot took about a lot of the time. I don't know if its a weird coincidence, but a lot of comedies I am watching have been going down a dark road. How I Meet Your Mother killed off Marshall's dad and even ran a countdown clock for it. I guess people don't like drama in their comedies at least heavy drama. I am used to 80's comedies like Family Ties, Cheers and Night Court, they went to some sad places at times, I guess I am used to it.
They picked Grant Gustin who was on Glee apparently (not on my viewing list). Guess I'll have to wait and see, that worked for me with Arrow; crossing my fingers on this one. http://m.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/glees-grant-gustin-set-as-625751
