Nevada is ranked so high for the same reason Boise State is: soft schedules allow them to put together records that look impressive if you ignore the quality of opponent.

I am also not sure how the strength of schedule is going to look if VT wins the ACC, a team Boise beat.

I'm also not sure you understand what strength of schedule means.

Ohio State hasn't beaten anyone with fewer then three losses.

Ohio State has a strength of schedule ranked 56th. I think Ohio State is really overrated, for the same reason Boise State is. But their schedule is still tougher than Boise State's.

Name a win the Big East has over a team in any of the BCS title confrence games, not the winners, but just a team, hell I will give you teams in the running to get into those games. None. The Big East is a joke and I am sure given the choice the BCS would rather have Boise State then some doormate Big East team in any of the bowl games.

Here's the problem (aside from the fact that I'm even bothering to respond to you). I just gave you a bunch of numbers, and you respond with gibberish. It's great that you think the Big East is a joke, but all of their teams still played tougher schedules than Boise State. You asked why the Big East champ is getting into the BCS while Boise State isn't, and that's the answer.

Also, the Big East definitely sucks this year, and it hasn't really been a great conference since Miami left, but this is still an unusually down year for them. Last year, the toughest schedule in the Big East was Syracuse at 21. Boise State? Last year, they played the 88th-hardest schedule in the country. This year is typical for them, this year is not typical for the Big East.

Automatic qualifiers should be eliminated and teams in the top 10 to 15 should be given those spots. Automatic qualifiers are another tool of the cartel.

I'm inclined to agree with you, but that has nothing to do with your comment to which I responded.

The point is, if the Big East is a "joke", then just how horrendous is Boise's conference? You can't make an argument for Boise by trashing another conference that's clearly better than theirs.

How are they clearly better when the Big East has one ranked team as of today and Boise's conference has two. My gibberish is that strength of schedule is a joke. It overvalues the BCS conferences. Boise State beat a team that has a 50/50 of being a BCS conference champ and their only loss is to a ranked team in overtime on the road. It makes no sense to have go to a crap bowl like the Humanitarian when a team they beat as well as an undeserving conference winner is going to a BCS bowl game.

I think you're overlooking the possibility that it's the polls that are the joke.

Strength of schedule is computed, not voted on. How is that biased?

Also, VT hasn't earned a BCS bowl yet. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

Their schedule is still softer than the schedule of any BCS conference team I can find, even in the weak Big East or ACC.

Well, Nevada didn't pass Boise (and won't), so it basically comes down to that Boise wins the WAC if they win, and Hawaii wins the WAC if Boise loses. (Boise has the tiebreaker with Hawaii and would have the best BCS ranking in the event of a three-way tie, while Hawaii has the tiebreaker with Nevada and would win the conference outright if Boise and Nevada both lose).

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

This sports betting site is giving odds on Miami's next coach:

http://sports.bodog.com/sports-betting/college-football-team-props.jsp

Not sure if that link will take you to the right place, so here they are (the links in their names just take you to their Wikipedia pages):

Jon Gruden: 1/1
Jim Leavitt: 2/1
Brent Venables (the site misspells it as "Venebles," so you know this is a big-time operation): 3/1
Gary Patterson: 6/1
Marc Trestman: 8/1
Mark Richt: 10/1
Chris Petersen: 12/1
Mike Belloti: 15/1
Jimmy Johnson: 50/1

For what it's worth, Gruden shot them down.

2/1 for Leavitt?

They really think he has any shot at this job?

I know, I think that's laughable.

I still like Leavitt and think he could be a good head coach, but he's not going to be hired in Miami. All 12 of the Hurricanes' fans would revolt.

For some reason he strikes me as a guy that should be coaching in the Big 10+2. Indiana isn't much, but he's gotta prove himself somewhere again before he'll get a shot at a big job.

Just read Vandy wants Bud Foster. If I'm him, not sure I'd want my first head coaching gig to be at a place like that. But then again maybe he'll take anything at this point. Tommy Bowden on their list if he won't go.

Cane fans are convinced tonight they are getting not only Gruden, but Leavitt as DC. I think it was Ferman at Canesport who "broke" this.

My first instinct is, that's retarded and not going to happen.

Second is...I have no clue how this will turn out but it'll make a really big splash for sure. They may even be able to hang on to all seven recruits they have.

Even though I think strength of schedule is a joke, Boise State is now 62 according to ESPN and Ohio State is 64 as well as Wisconsin being 71. Who is playing the children of the poor again?

If I'm a team like Seattle, Miami or Arizona, Manning is worth the risk. Even if it turns out he can't play effectively again, I'd rather see my team take a shot on a QB who can be elite rather than tread water with a QB (Jackson, Moore, Kolb)
