Into everyone's life, a little rain must fall. Tonight, after 12 incredible, phenomenal, nonsensical, flabbergasting weeks of some of the greatest sports entertainment television ever purposefully produced to expose everything so very wrong (yet so very right) about sports entertainment... we learn... just who makes the rain fall.

It's the season finale of NXT season 3! Naomi or Kaitlyn? One of these Rookie Divas WILL be WWE's next breakout Diva!

But before that, NXT opens with a solemn Michael Cole noting his actions last night on RAW and apologizing to Jerry "The King" Lawler for costing him the WWE Championship he waited "40 years" to get a shot at. Cole promises he will contact Lawler this week and address the situation next Monday on RAW. Well, of course he will, otherwise sitting next to Lawler for three hours (including the Superstars taping) would real awkward.

In the ring, our erstwhile host Matthew Moore (wait, that's some other guy) Striker introduces one of NXT3's Pros, Vickie Guerrero. "EXCUSE ME!" And Vickie is here to introduce her Rookie the same way she did in the very first episode, like the closing of a circle. Vickie's epic intro for the young woman she thought at first was a man but has grown to despise ends with, "Here she is, she's horrible - KAITLYN!!" Josh informs us that according to Kaitlyn, "More people voted for Kaitlyn than watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1." If that's true, then this contest is over and Kaitlyn won by a landslide. But it's not over yet! We still have about 45 minutes to kill!

Naomi gets intro'd by Striker with less fanfare (and no insults, to be fair) and without her Pro Kelly Kelly joining her as Vickie does Kaitlyn. Striker explains this quickly as K2 made Naomi a Titan Tron video, where she stands beside the American flag. K2 explains that she's traveling overseas with Big Show and Eve where she'll be entertaining the troops. Striker asks Naomi her thoughts on her Pro. Naomi loved everything Kelly did for her, whatever that may have been.

When Kaitlyn is asked her thoughts on her Pro, Vickie interrupts Kaitlyn immediately and references Aloisa, not by name, as Kaitlyn was Vickie's choice as her replacement. But in the weeks following, among Kaitlyn's many sins against Vickie the worst was: "YOU TRIED TO STEAL MY BOYFRIEND!!" Kaitlyn denies she tried to steal Dolph but video of them making out doesn't lie. This, Vickie and Kaitlyn, is the last storyline on the show, and it was also the first storyline of the show, and the main storyline of NX3. Kaitlyn says during Thanksgiving, she did gave thanks for Vickie as her Pro, then says Vickie gave thanks for a second helping of mashed potatoes. Vickie has had enough and tries to make like a tree and get out of the ring, but is tripped by Kaitlyn and falls on her bottom. Cue patented Vickie Guerrero Tantrum.

Cole and Josh transition out of that segment to announce NXT season 4, starting right away next Tuesday night on Sy-- er, nxt.wwe.com. Cole: "There's another season?!"

Yes, and this time (boo) the men are back. But it's not all bad news, because with the return of male wrestlers comes the return of "WILD AND YOUNG!" (The song Wade Barrett loathed, as he told WWE Magazine.)

I'll leave it up to the more learned folks on The W to explain who this new crop of FCW hopefuls-to-not-be-humiliated (but will be) are. I'll just say their names and who their Pros will be.

NXT Season 4: Pro R-Truth will mentor Rookie Johnny Curtis.

AJ and The Bella Twins vs. Aksana, Maxine, and Alicia Fox in a Match That Doesn't Matter But May Be The Last Time We See Heel Nikki Bella. Oh, Heel Nikki. She's not as happy to be tagging with AJ as Brie is. As the trio of heels come down the aisle and the camera cuts to the scowling face of Goldust, Josh says Aksana is divorced. Cole challenges how that could be. Josh: "It depends on what state you live in. You'll find that out soon enough." Of course, Aksana is presumably a legal US citizen so why can't she be sports entertainment-divorced already? Nikki heels it up during the match against Aksana to start ("Not in my house, Rookie") and later jumps off the apron when AJ tries to tag her back in. Meanwhile, Cole recaps how the season went for him, including the gong getting banned, the dance competition, and him quitting. A donnybrook in the ring ends with AJ pinning Maxine with a flying bodypress. Cole: "But it doesn't matter, honey! You're already eliminated! You have no future! Go home! Play video games!" Primo hits the ring for the post-match celebration and AJ KISSES PRIMO! Storyline closure! Meanwhile, I conjecture Goldust falls off his chair and tears his hair out in frustration that Primo kissed AJ and he's never so much as touched his (ex?)-wife's Golden Globes.

NXT Season 4: Pro Chris Masters will mentor Rookie Byron Saxton.

Still to come: Naomi vs. Kaitlyn! Josh: "It's the reason dozens are tuning into wwe.com right now!"

NXT Season 4: Pro Ted DiBiase (with Maryse) will mentor Rookie Brodus Clay. He's a former bodyguard of Snoop Dogg. Cole is in love with Clay's nicknames: The Mastodon of Mayhem. World's Greatest Suplex Machine. (Cole: "I know somebody's gonna be mad about that!" Josh: "Shhh!")

Back in the ring with Striker, Naomi, and Kaitlyn, our final segment to impress the WWE Universe is called Trash Talk. Nobody likes the sound of this. Unlike Dis the Diva, the rules are to really cut loose and explain to the WWE Universe why she should win NXT. Becuase it matters so much with voting closed. Striker: "Be creative, be entertaining." Cole: "Matt, take your own advice!"

Kaitlyn is up first and doesn't mention Aloisa directly but brings up that she was brought in as a replacement. Naomi started off strongly but leveled off. Meanwhile, Kaitlyn had the least experience and had her first match ever on NXT. "One day, I'll be as good as you, but there's one thing you can't teach, that's personality."

Naomi starts off that "The time is now." Josh starts singing John Cena's theme. Naomi takes the inspirational route about how she gave it her all, but drones on and on and on. Where's the buzzer? What, there's no buzzer? "I never thought I'd be here entertaining the WWE Universe." Cole: "Neither did I." Striker finally stops her and takes the mic away from her. But the final two Rookie Divas aren't going anywhere (and they don't need another set of ring entrances since neither has music of their own). Their match is next!

Naomi vs. Kaitlyn in A Match Beyond. Before the wrestling, which is what we'll charitably call it, there's a a dance off. Kaitlyn does the running man, then Naomi does that thing where she actually knows how to dance. And now for some action: Kaitlyn takes control early and brings back fond memories of Dr. Frank by going for a Giant Swing. Oooh!! Cole: "I haven't seen that move in a while" and he references Ivan Putski. Then Cole says Gordon Solie is rolling in his grave. Then Cole apologizes to Harley Race. Cole is a one man Hall of Fame name-dropper. Josh: "You also forgot Don Muraco." Naomi busts out her patented ass and leg lariat offense. Kaitlyn counters with her patented leg scissors offense. I wait in vain for Kaitlyn to debut a properly executed Atomic Wedgie Bomb. This match is no Naomi vs. AJ, but it's not the epic disaster Kaitlyn vs. Maxine was. No one cares, is all. There's a near fall that the ref took forever to count. Cole and Josh: "COUNT FASTER!! It'll be over if you count faster!" Flying face to the foot by Kaitlyn as Josh asks Cole how his Thanksgiving was. "Stunk." Kaitlyn rolls up Naomi in an inside cradle where the Ref looked like he counted to 6 because it looked like both Kaitlyn and Naomi's shoulders were on the mat. But he does count the pin. And the booking sheet says Kaitlyn wins so KAITLYN WINS! Vickie excuses herself and tells Kaitlyn: "Nobody cares about your victory!" Vickie then introduces the next season four Pro... once again dressed as a Chippendale's dancer... the Intercontinental Champion and a man inspired by the leadership Vickie has shown... Vickie's boyfriend Dolph Ziggler!

NXT Season 4: Pro Dolph Ziggler will mentor Rookie Jacob Novak. Wait, isn't that Curt Hawkins?

As we go to break, the Pros huddle up for the last time to determine who will be our Next Breakout Diva!

Back from commercial we find out Daniel Bryan, accompanied by Ride of the Valkyries, is a Pro! Wow! The first NXT Rookie to be a Pro, just 6 months after being a Rookie himself.

NXT Season 4: Pro Daniel Bryan will mentor Rookie Derrick Bateman. He looks like a tougher Andy Samberg.

On the stage, all the eliminated season 4 Rookie Divas, Aksana, Maxine, AJ, Jamie (doesn't work here anymore) Keyes, are assembled. Striker wants their opinions on who will win NXT. Cole's as happy to see and hear Jamie as I am. Jamie picks Naomi, and she prattles on and on like she thinks she's getting her job back with the company if she just keeps talking. Jamie even goes for the cheap pop and tries to lead the audience pro-Naomi, but she milks the shit to boos. Cole: "You've been eliminated! Go away!" No kidding. AJ picks Kaitlyn, noting that it's the athlete vs. the entertainer. Maxine is 100% Naomi for reasons she needs not explain. Aksana (kisskisskiss) hits on Striker, noting that she is about to be divorced! Aha! Goldust: "Why don't you just close your mouth? No one can undertsand what you're saying." Aksana: "Quiet, honey." And Aksana picks Aksana to win. She's no longer being beaten with shovels, so Aksana has won. Josh name drops Mr. Perfect as we go to break.

The winner of NXT is next! Cole: "Next! Next! Next!"

NXT Season 4: Pro Alberto Del Rio(!) will mentor Rookie Conor O'Brian (If he wins, he'll never appear on NBC Saturday Night's Main Event.)

And it's the moment of truth. The last 13 weeks comes down to Matt Striker standing in the ring with Kaitlyn and Naomi (holding her stomach as if she's gonna hurl) as the Draft Lottery spins and spins and spins and spins on the Titan Tron until it lands on...

KAITLYN!! KAITLYN IS WWE'S NEXT BREAKOUT DIVA!!

(The W Universe majority called it right!)

Can you feel the excitement?! The Pros coming down from the stage to ringside, nary a smile on their faces. Vickie scowling (in character? Maybe, maybe not) from her stool. Cole moaning on the mic. Scattered boos more audible than any cheers there might be from the live audience.

Striker asks Naomi for her thoughts and she bows out with a quickie about wishing it was her but that she is proud of Kaitlyn.

Kaitlyn's victory speech is met with more scattered boos as she again reiterates she was a last minute replacement, got a call two days before NXT, had nothing to wear, and had her first match ever on NXT. But look at her now! The WWE's newest Diva. Kaitlyn closes with a "U Suck Aksana!" chant that she knew wasn't going anywhere.

But whatever, haters, Kaitlyn was my, and many others', pick from the beginning. She stole the entire show from the moment she was introduced, set herself as the girl to beat when she rode that cart up the ramp to win the obstacle course, and despite her deficiencies (of which she has a few glaring ones), she by far has the most charisma and that all-important intangible je ne sais quoi that can't be taught or learned. I'm happy it's K8LYN.

Aksana, Maxine, Jamie, and AJ hit the ring with AJ hugging Kaitlyn for a long, looong time, legs wrapped around her and everything. Hey, you think we'll get that sitcom starring the two of them they proposed on Twitter?

As Cole leaves in disgust, Josh said Naomi was the favorite amongst the Pros but if that's the case, the WWE Universe's 50% vote seems to count more.

And with that, NXT3, Girl NXT, the third season signs off, not with a bang, nor a nonsensical brawl like season 2, but with the feed cutting off while Josh was still speaking.

What a wild, wonderful ride it's been, even the last couple of weeks, which weren't as wonderful as the first 6 or so, plus that fantastic wedding. It's been a pleasure recapping NXT3. This season really has been some of the most fun I've had watching wrestling in years and years, and much of that fun was getting to be a ringleader (not the leader, but a leader, like David Otunga for the Nexus) for a like-minded circle within the W Universe who also understood what an unprecedented comedy show NXT3 was.

Thanks to Justin, who did the first thread for Girl NXT, and to InVerse, who recapped the final televised weeks on Syfy and set the ribald tone of these recaps, appreciating what was going on even when we weren't yet quite sure what was going on. And thanks to everyone who read, commented, lurked, and enjoyed these recaps and this season of sports entertainment television, the likes of which we may never see again.

Congratulations K8LYN! You make the rain fall!

Kisskisskiss. USA! USA! USA! And good night!

Cole's best line tonight:

"Gordon Solie is rolling over in his grave"

Cole's best non line tonight:

whistling during the rookies match

I have no real desire to watch Season 4, with presumably at least adequate wrestlers.

Too bad they did not pair up Danielson with Tyler Black.

Will Cole be back? I could see Josh and Punk as the commentators.

Kaitlyn? The one who seems to break character during a beatdown or promo? Really?

I don't actually care. She won't last a year. Aksana HAS to get a contract though, she is entertaining without even trying.

Wait, they're seriously wasting ALBERTO DEL RIO on this junk? He's one of the most entertaining guys on the roster. He should be way beyond this show by now. They couldn't throw in Drew McIntyre instead?

It's funny, you don't watch NXT and you hate Michael Cole, right? And yet if you did watch NXT, you'd realize you sound exactly like Michael Cole on NXT.

I would say Dos is a high mid-card guy and it's fine for him to be there. Same with Danielson.

I could have done without R-Truth. Ted Jr will be okay if he is still with Maryse.

Masters is a fine choice, if only for the week where the rookies have to try and break the Masterlock.

And I for one will miss John O's recaps of this. Seeing as I don't have The Score, nor can watch it on wwe.com, I don't just go to any newz site for results, dammit I support my fellow W!

Funny thing is that as the season went on, I stopped caring about Kaitlyn and actually got annoyed by her.

The "posing on the cart" stuff was cool at first.
But after week two or three she simply hasn't been able to do anything right.
She doesn't know how to get through her promos if something happens, always wants to make things funny (greasing up her arm etc etc)
I noticed that still claiming to be BFF's the last few weeks AJ no longer did robots and such with Kaitlyn.
I wonder if they were told to stay away from one another a bit. (didn't work for AJ but who knows ...)

Apparently Tyler Black (Seth Rollins) went on twitter saying "Today is just one of those days where I hate everything and everyone."

If this is because he feels crap for being left out of season 4, he is probably lucky.
After the mockery they made out of the show in season 3, how can we take this serious in any way ever again?

It was bad in 1 and 2, but at least WWE pretended that we, the viewers, oughta care.
In season 3 they flushed every aspect of the show and made it a bad comedy skit. No way that they can get viewers to buy into it again as a competition for a contract or something.

I also was a little surprised hearing that Del Rio was picked to be a Pro.

Just when you thought the wrestlers names couldn't get any more worse, here comes Conor O'Brian.

Oh look, it's Jamie Keys and her scary man-arms! Didn't the 'E flat out release her after she lost? Nice of them to bring her back for this...

And congrats to Kaitlyn, who revealed she has almost zero wrestling experience but a bizarro charisma that will allow her to make the rain fall...as LayCool's next target on SD!?

How can they go back to treating NXT-4 even somewhat seriously after NXT-3? How can they follow up this season?? (Oddly I just heard "Wild and Young" on the radio on Tuesday afternoon...)

Hey, it's Byron Saxton, the boring announcer from the waning days of ECW!

Hey it's a GIANT TAZ(Z)...I loved Cole's reaction to that...best moment of the night.

And Conor O'Brian...I...I can't top John's joke.

The rain ahs turned to snow here in MN, if nothing else other than I'll miss Good 'Ol J.O's recaps. I watched it last night, but while playing online poker, so that tells you how much I gave a shit about last nights episode after that past two weeks of bs. Really, the only time I actually paid attention is when the former NXT3'ers were onstage just to see if I remembered their faces. (Aksana and AJ were about it, other than Jamie's guns.) OH, and after K8lyn's win and Vickie interrupted, I was totally waiting for her to bring out Aloisia to wipe the mat with both of them. Alas, no such luck. Cole wasn't nearly as funny last night, so why should I pay attention. I doubt I'll be watching NXT4. Oh well. Thank you, Dobule Double E for NXT3. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Upon reflection, I'm disappointed we didn't the patented NXT season ending WTF BRAWL. When the losing Rookie Divas headed to the ring for Kaitlyn's victory party, I was sure there'd be some clubberin', what with the Pros already in there and Nikki Bella lookin' all hot, Latina-tempered.

My dream scenario (which I did dream about last night) was AJ jumping on Kaitlyn for the hug, legs wrapped around her, and then climbing on her like a jungle gym, grabbing hold of her arms, and then applying THE OCTOPUS THE OCTOPUS THE OCTOPUS!! TAP OUT!! TAP OUT!! OR WHATEVER YOU DO!! Then BIG BRAWL with Aksana kneeing Goldust in his golden globes. Hornswoggle appears from under the ring with SHOVELS and hands them to the NXT Rookie Divas, who proceed to beat their Pros with shovels while Maxine and Hornswoggle make out. And someone gets too close to Jamie Keyes and blades their forehead on her diamond sharp arms.

Or something like that. Also, I didn't really dream about that but now I wish I did.

Congratulations to Vickie Guerrero as well for leading Kaitlyn to victory as her Pro, in spite of Kaitlyn spiting her. Vickie joins Michelle McCool and Layla as season-winning NXT Pros - LayCool's NXT track record is Flawless.

Oh, and regarding complaints about Alberto Del Rio in NXT4, the idea that he's too good for NXT or something is laughable. First, what, he's got something better to do with his time? News: He's NOT REALLY A MEXICAN BILLIONAIRE. Being on NXT doesn't distract Del Rio from whatever else he'll do on Smackdown, or RAW for that matter when he appears there. Second, being a Pro on NXT actually helps the Pros in some cases. People like LayCool, Dashing Cody Rhodes, and Nikki Bella got more interesting because of their work on NXT. And look at Goldust! Without NXT and his Aksana storyline, would Goldust ever have squash matches on RAW or victories on pay per view in 2010? No. And let's not forget the most successful of any NXT Pro, The Miz, who was really the star of the first two seasons. Being a Pro on NXT can and is proven to boost some midcard acts.

How lucky will Conor O'Brian be if his Pro allows him to get his own Spanish ring introductions from Ricardo Rodriguez?

I think this screams for an appearance by Wendy Richter..

And if Alberto is too precious to waste on NXT, then think back to Chris Jericho. Wasn't he champion at some point during the NXT season?

Tell me a lie...and say that you won't go...

I haven't watched this yet, and may never, but if they didn't end NXTSHE by having Cole sing Tell Me A Lie over a montage of season highlights, this is the biggest missed opportunity of them all.

Re: Pro selection for NXT-4-Ever, the first NXT was loaded with pros who could have carried the load if everyone else on the show had been complete duds. Carlito was a waste, but you had Jericho, Punk, Regal, Miz and Christian all there to be entertaining if need be. And Truth ended up earning his spot when he angrily DANCED AT REGAL during the pro free-for-all. Looking back, that single segment - which featured Regal ripping the entire panel, Truth's angry dance fighting and Punk's "this much better!" pantomime to Regal about the Miz - set the table for what NXT would eventually (d)evolve into.

Also looking back, it's sad that Matt Hardy was on NXT1, when it was supposed to be serious. Is there anyone who has stuck with the show and/or these threads this far who would not be transfixed if Matt Hardy was still in the company and was an NXT Pro during the latter half of Season 2 or all of Season 3? Imagine a confused, bloated Matt on stage sitting in a booth he'd have shipped to each show, asked for his opinion on his rookie only to spiral off into yelling at Punk (who wouldn't even have to be on the show) about how he'll "never be good enough for Amy Dumaaaaaah!"

So yeah, it's pretty obvious they're making the show now just for the people who love the trainwreck it's become, which may be the people in this thread alone. As such, you need a ringer like Del Rio who could thrive on this show. One of my favorite terrible things about NXT is how they kill a solid 5+ minutes every show by having each pro introduced and then each rookie introduced EVERY TIME. Imagine if they keep doing that every week, but compound it by having Ricardo Rodriguez come out to do a second intro for Alberto Del Rio and then a second intro for his rookie every time, complete with Del Rio driving onto the stage? Please make that happen.

I'm willing to bet that Cody's metamorphosis into an genuinely entertaining character on NXT2 is exactly why Ted Jr. is on 4. I don't think it will work, but it's nice to know somebody actually paid attention to the positivies of letting guys try things out.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ziggler benefits the most out of this. Truth will only work if he's in character as Pretty Rickey or keeps up his weird tweener Just Joe phase.

My ideal six pro lineup of people currently employed by WWE for NXT-4-Ever would have probably been: Del Rio, Ryder (who would be cold to his rookie because he's still emotionally vulnerable after losing Titus), Regal (on a soul search to find something to reignite his love of wrestling, but retiring because NXT is so awful), bitter and injured Christian, Otunga(representing NXT and being put in every pro/rookie tag match, even ones without his rookie) and Alex Riley.

I will now make bold predictions on the NXT4 Rookies based only on their names and some headshots I just found online: I'm assuming Brodus Clay got his name from Snoop Dogg (Calvin Broadus), which means the Snoop Dogg connection is real enough that he'll stick around for a bit. I predict Derrick Bateman got his name because someone thinks he'll look like Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman if he slicks his hair back, and he will be given this as a gimmick either randomly in the middle of NXT4 (Dolph Ziggler introduces himself to Bateman, Bateman gives him his card, Ziggler is confused and introduces himself again, Bateman gives him another card) or as soon as he's cut and goes back to Florida. Byron Saxton will win because he's wearing a blazer in the head shot I'm looking at. A confused Alex Riley will attack him in the final episode.

But anyway, I must be going because now my dreams are fadin like age-old photographs...That hurt too much to look at now, remind us of our past.

Cubs revealed a while back that Rodriguez was a former luchadore himiself and someone else noted that he once worked a wrestling school. If the result of all this is Del Rio shunting most of the work to Rodriguez (because a "Mexican Billionaire" couldn't bother getting his hands dirty like this), the language barrier could lead to some funny moments.

I'm slowly warming up to ADR as a Pro, but I still think McIntyre and his "Chosen One" persona would have fit this role much better.

Ugh, Kaitlyn.

If this is the last night of NXT as we know it, it wasn't without its pleasures. Cole and Josh's giddy banter turned to apathetic disdain a few weeks ago but they added some good moves to their repertoire. The whistling, "I wish the Mastodon of Mayhem would come out," Cole's amazing saucy conviction when he talked about Tazz being upset about the suplex machine, Josh singing "My Time Is Now."

Danielson and Alberto Del Rio as trainers is close enough to my prediction from September, Del Rio and Wade Barrett. Josh's commentary with B.Saxton out there should be funny. How about NXT rookie Abraham Washington?

Oh god it's Jamie. Love that Jamie busted out her greatest hit of loudly addressing the WWE Universe for call & response. Crushed that Maxine DIDN'T

I mean WTF.

<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 Nikki Bella. Nikki was so grossed out by the AJ-Primo kiss. Flawless Niktory.

This is such an astute observation. It was the first sign of free reign and what our cast would do with it going forward (which was, generally fuck around). Really the only comedy greatness from season 1 was Punk's reactions to Darren Young and that time Jericho did commentary with Cole and Josh during an eight-man tag. And "TALK ABOUT WADE BARRETT." "We are!" "TALK MORE."

Conversely, Season 2 immediately "made it a win" on episode one and from there we were off and running.

What will season four bring? Well, more matches than s3. And the obstacle course. And probably that stupid joust thing. For now, I'll be there. I want to be there when the next "mustache" moment happens. OH YEAH
