John Cena would absolutely deserve to bwait are we really debating this? Hulk Hogan is in the 20s. It's just a list they made for a DVD they made. It's not a real thing.

Technically, this is an official WWE list, so yeah its a real thing or as real as any list will get.

There's no criteria though. It's just a crazy list to put out a DVD. You know who's in the wrong spot? Everybody.

I am not disagreeing with you that the list is bullshit what I am saying is the giant global wrestling company who owns 75% to 90% of the US wrestling is making it official. We also don't know what the criteria is since the DVD is not out yet.

The only other possible explanation is it's males only.

Uh, HBK was like 5-0 vs Taker before WM including a victory in the first Hell in the Cell.

Other than Piper's great run in the mid 80's (which was mostly character driven) is he the most overrated wrestler ever? Everything he did from that point on was pretty much a bad impression of that run.

Although he only won that match due to interference from the 43rd greatest wrestler of all time.

Hmm..Piper/Bret for the IC title at Mania, Piper/Goldust, Piper giving a hell of a promo on Hogan as well as a good match plus storyline at the start of the NWO. Most recently, his promo on Jericho about The Wrestler was pretty fucking moving. You want overrated wrestler of all time, Piper is not it. I am sure you can five guys more overrated then Piper just on that list alone.

Always knew Moolah was just wearing drag.
Major flaw in the rankings: Where is Sky Lo Lo? Hey, if Mysterio is on it, so should someone he'd look up to.
Piper's pre-WWF run was pretty good.
And, there is definitely a flaw at the top of the poll. Only 1 man in wrestling should be #1, and that is Paul Jones.

I'd admittedly not brought HIAC into account, but apparently i'm not as wrong as you'd think: http://shawnmichaelsweb.com/2009/03/11/the-history-of-shawn-michaelsundertaker/

I take it you weren't privy to any of the NWA matches/feuds he was a part of before WWF. Because he was a hell of a wrestler/brawler before Vince got hold of him.

Not to mention, he always cut premium promos.

The criteria of the list was "hey, wouldn't it be funny if we put Rey Misterio and Andre the Giant right next to each other?" That is the criteria of the list.

While there are a lot of wtf moments on this list, this makes me scratch my head the most:

Hulk Hogan: 23
Randy Savage: 14

I mean, unless we are talking match quality, there is just so much working against this ranking.

I have no problem at all with Shawn Michaels being #1, in fact I was pleasantly surprised.

While the ranking order may be off, I don't see any big omissions.

Pedro Morales had a multi year run on top as a world champion with subsequent tag and I-C title reigns. And, I'll take Ivan Koloff's body of work over the Iron Sheik's.

Thus making debating the 'accuracy' of the list all the more worthwhile!

At least he agrees with the ranking of 7.5 people!

Who? Never existed. He isn't on a DVD released in the past 3 years. Just like the NFL would omit OJ from a top 50 running backs of all time list.

I'm aware of the early pre WWE stuff, and you are right it is solid. I just don't find most of his good stuff good enough to out weigh the bombs that he has been apart of as the years go on.

Maybe 'most over rated' was a bit too harsh, since his Piper's Pit stuff is legendary on it's own. I just never got into face/tweener Piper and the later stuff was just trainwreck bad more often than not. If you want to cherry pick certain promos there's been a few. His feuds? I'll give you Hart, but Golddust or Early nWo I'll pass on. He's done more harm to his 'legacy' than most of the guys on this list with his constant comebacks, the WCW run was especially damaging.

So, now that I think about it I'll split the difference and give Early Piper his due, but you can keep most of 90's Piper and beyond.
