I can't say I've ever wondered what it would be like if the cast of The Office turned up at your average ordinary everyday church service. But here we go:

Jim and Pam are there to have CC christened and the whole workplace drops on by. Huh! They (and a host of others) are also going to stick around for food afterwords so watch out PB & J! Time to improvise! Not enough food! Not enough chairs! Shenanigans ensue! Well not really ... Michael seeks inspiration and jumps abroad a bus en route to Mexico while Jim deals with his own mistake of not checking the diaper bag for an extra outfit.

For a minute, Andy thinks going along with Michael is a good idea. The cheerful skinny kid going on a mission to Mexico was pretty awesome, but Angela's insufferability is just not funny anymore. Go away Angela. Unless you are dressed as a sexy nurse, that is.

For bits and pieces of the episode, we follow Toby, who it seems has lost touch with the man upstairs lately, as we wonders first outside, then inside the church looking for way to break the ice with the supreme being. He gets to the point at the end of the show, and that was good enough for me.

As is not uncommon, too much Jim & Pam. It felt like Phyllis' wedding but Michael wasn't enough of a distraction. But the opening I did like, with Dwight resigned to eat his sneezed-on toast. Completely ridiculous, but funny. The best line got out of the way early, with Michael acknowledging that he got with Pam's mom with the most inappropriate of drop-ins.

I really enjoyed how they didn't have Michael go completely overboard when he found out he wasn't the godfather. Usually when they do these types of thing Michael reacts like a spoiled child and he ends up annoying me, but this week I actually felt kind of bad that he wasn't the godfather.

There is too much Jim and Pam in an episode about their baby's christening.

This is why I'm kinda glad the Thursday threads have fallen off. The comments and opinions in them have been utter jokes, the Internet at its (not so) finest.

You have the nonsense in the Community thread where people are taking a zombie Halloween episode way too friggin' seriously. And then there's been the reception The Office has gotten for a while now:

The Office has been "bad" for two years - despite not changing its formula, despite still being funny, despite bringing in new faces who fit right into the ensemble - because there's "too much Jim & Pam"??? You might as well just say there's too much Michael and Dwight too, because -GASP! - those are your four main characters.

Good lord.

Am I the only one who thought it was weird to have your child's godfather be someone you've only known for a few months??

Let me clarify that. Too much Jim & Pam should mean too much 'the couple' Jim & Pam. Not too much Jim, too much Pam. Individually the characters are just that, characters of the show, and main ones. The thing is is that we've seen them flirt, date, get married, have a baby, and start riding off into the sunset. They've reached the apex of couplehood and parent hood all at once and now we have nothing left to look forward to. The focus of the episode as them 'as a couple' handicaps things. That's all.

I was hoping for an appearance by Jim's brothers to make the whole thing more awkward. Oh well.

I guess I still don't quite get it. There is too much Jim and Pam as a couple in an episode about them, as a couple, attending the christening of their baby, who they had as a couple, after we've seen them flirt, date, get married, have a baby, and start riding off into the sunset... of where? Dunder Mifflin, where they both work as always. Even though for part of the episode, Pam left to "get subs", leaving Jim alone to lose the baby, and the running time of the 22 minutes was divided between Michael's story with the teenagers and arguing with his staff, intercuts with Dwight selling paper, Toby not being able to enter the church, and Andy and Michael on the bus. There is just too much Jim and Pam. Dear NBC, please break up Jim and Pam or kill off Jim or Pam so there is no longer too much Jim and Pam.

Should they not do Jim and Pam are a couple stories? That doesn't make sense. As it is, they've been careful to not do too many since the wedding a year ago.

Also, Stanley and Kevin are too fat. There is too much Stanley and Kevin being fat. And Creed is too old. There is too much Creed is too old. We have seen Stanley and Kevin be too fat for seven seasons, and Creed has only gotten older in the seven seasons. Plus Kelly is too Indian and/or dumb. All of these things handicap The Office.

The Office isn't as good as it was in seasons 2 and 3. It just isn't. It's shown its age, it's become overly familiar. It's most incredible years are probably behind it, unless the upcoming change of Regional Manager galvanizes the series (it could happen). But The Office is what it is, and it's still funny.

I didn't hate the episode by any means. Nor am I on board with the notion that crept up in last week's thread that the wedding should have been the series finale. I mean, the wedding WOULD have made a good series finale, but it wasn't.
