Took the kids to this on Saturday in Hartford.
Good event and having Howard Finkel announce made it seem special.
Though Triple H was announced, it was a surprise to see him actually wrestle a match against Alberto Del Rio. He seemed really excited to be back in front of the fans again.
John Cena was taken off the card a few weeks ago, but then was the "surprise" opponent in a match against Kane. It ended with a Nexus run-in that led to a locker room emptying brawl. Nice to see HHH go after Sheamus during this.

Loved the fact that the Raw GM still made announcements during a house show, with the computer noise and a ref running a laptop down to the ring for Fink.
Vince came out to thank the fans and they did lots of giveaways.
Sad that we got no tag match in a three hour event.

Simply could not convince my 11 year old son that Cena was not winning Kane's belt in a match that wasn't on TV or PPV. I wish I could watch with his innocence sometimes.

Obviously, I don't know the full context of how you did this and wouldn't want to assume, but just by the way you phrased it, why would you try to squash your son's optimism "convince" your son that something like that couldn't happen at a house show?

Sure, it's rare, but let the kid have his hopes. It might even benefit you (and others) to have some of that innocence when you watch, too, instead of nit-picking and detailing every potential expectation.*

*No, I'm not advocating for poor quality, lousy writing, a litany of crappy matches, or anything else that would signify me as a popcorn-type viewer. There, did I cover all my bases?

This is all serious business.

You've got a point. It's tough to separate the dad part from the person who reads all the inside stuff online.
My son kinda likes knowing backstage stuff like their real names and who's related to who, but I think he likes the kayfabe and angles too. He is totally into WWE shows, video games, magazines, etc. We may not like the PG stuff, but his age group seems to be really into it.

BTW, is there some kind of rule that there has to be some group, usually three, of guys in their early twenties who boo the faces and cheer the heels at shows? It's happened at every single show I've ever been to. "Hey, dude check us out. We're doing the opposite of what everyone else is doing. We're so like, ....contrarian".

I actually forgot about this or I might have gone.

Were tickets still readily available, how full was the arena? How much offense did Del Rio get? And was their campaigning in or around the building and how was it done?

It wasn't Smark Appreciation Day.

It looked like people were still buying tickets at the window as I was picking up mine. My three $10 tickets wound up costing 62.50 thanks to all the Ticketmaster BS fees and charges. (No fees if bought at the window, but I didn't want to chance it). Arena looked pretty full to me.

Del Rio got some moves in and they even brawled outside, where HHH paraded around in ADR's white scarf thingy. Post match pedigrees for Del Rio and Richardo.

There was no real campaigning that I could see. They were suprisingly restrained.

I'm totally one of those! :) I go to cheer who I want, regardless of whether they're faces or heels.
