"Cruel business sense: It's obvious they are willing to work for less than stellar pay. So why give them more?"
Aside from the morality of the situation; some of this stuff is just embarrassing and makes TNA look like a joke.
You cannot claim to be a rival to WWE, and have a women's champion so broke she can't make house show events. Or another who works in sunglass hut.
The fact that Madison was rumoured to have been under pressure to deny the house show story, strongly indicates TNA did not want that story out there. So, yeah: if they're eager to keep this stuff under wraps it suggests to me they know full well how bad this makes them look.

Well, they will in 4 years, when that portion of the bill goes into effect.
I wish I was as optimistic as you. If they don't pay them anything close to something "fair" what makes you think TNA wouldn't just pay the $1500 a year fine instead of picking up the health care cost?
Are you "Vye," the author of the article that started this thread?"
Like I'm that good a writer.
"What's the motivation behind keeping this thread going?" Thread seems active enough without me and I certainly didn't feel I was single handedly keeping it going or anything. But I'll delete it if you want.
"Do you plan on participating in other discussions here, or is this just a one-time event?"
Sure, I guess. A lot of pwo crowd post here, right? "In short, what's your angle?"
Don't have one, pal. It would be nice for stuff like this to become well known, and I've posted it a couple of places because of that, but I doubt it would change anything. It's not like they can be shamed into doing the right thing. I mean, I do hate TNA, and love talking about what an embarrassment the place is, but that's hardly a minority opinion or an angle. And I've not reached Bix levels of hatred.
And, since I can't be bothered starting a new thread...Cagesideseats mentioned this about Ken Anderson, and how people have been rushing to praise TNA for pulling him out of action:
"It's hard to give them too much credit when Anderson was sent on the road this past weekend to work a house show tour 9 days after his concussion, but when he got so sick after the first night, then they sent him home and are giving him time off."Dave Meltzer on his subscriber only message board explains why TNA doesn't deserve much credit for doing the right thing regarding their handling of Mr Anderson's recent concussion. Wow, this puts last night's concussion storyline in a new perspective and makes it look even more galling with the benefit of hindsight.
There's also the whole Desmond Wolfe deal, which no-one has much of a clue about. It's supposed to be an open secret in the company that he failed his physical due to concussions but noone's confirmed it. He was also working for them for a year and they never spotted it. And it was reported at the time he'd failed a physical in WWE, but they never did anything.
I'm more shocked that he's the only guy in wrestling, that I can think of, that has ever actually failed a WWE or TNA physical exam for concussions. If guys like Joe, Danielson, who also did a number on themselves with the ROH style, and many other can pass, it must be really bad if he can't. Angelina Love has had problems with them too, I think.
My understanding is that Wolfe didn't get HIRED by the WWE because he failed his physical because fo the concussions. Just checked Wiki and they got nuthin' on him being in WWE. Liked the article, tho, cm21. If nothing else, I found out ODB is pouring libations at a bar 45 minutes from my place.
The "Desmond Wolfe" business no one should be shocked with, and everyone should "have a clue". Much hoopla was given with Danielson and Wolfe being signed by the WWE, but Wolfe was not signed due to medical reasons. TNA then snatched him up, as they previously showed after signing Kurt Angle that they didn't mind taking on the WWE's medical rejects.
Really, look no further than Angle. The WWE very publicly cut ties with him when he refused to go to rehab. Then, while in TNA, we was caught with stuff in his car. THey signed Jeff Hardy, they will probably be signing Matt Hardy.
No one should be shocked about TNA's stances with injuries, no one. And say what you will about the WWE and being an "independent contractor", they've come a long way since "back in the day", and now they're even willing to pay for rehab and other surgeries. It shows the kind of culture change they're trying to promote when legends and veterans are coming back. For example, why wouldn't Paul Bearer come back after receiving gasteral bypass surgery paid for by the WWE? And apparently the Dudleys were close to resigning and only signed back with TNA due to travel schedules.

Also great comparing one of boxing's most famous faces of recent times to two reality TV nobodies brought in for no discernable purpose.
I was using Maywether as an example of wasting money. He got millions, millions to get booed out of the ring for a month straight, legit punched Big Show in the face and came off as a pussy thug. Also, how much do you think the Raw Guest Hosts get? Probably the same as Jwoww. Fairplay was throwing monety out the window, but it was a time when TNA needed exposure and Survivor ws hot. Same thing Vince did with Tyson at WM 14 and most of the celebs at WM I. There is no difference.
If TNA doesn't pay for medical bills then that is sick. Yet, we don't know. All we have are articles written by internet writers, who are right up there with people who write on bathroom walls at bars for credibility. Still, when I watch interviews with TNA talent, all I hear is about how Dixie takes of them. That might be TNA propaganda, but really who knows. If the KO don't like it they can leave which most of them did and are working in the indys as well as part time jobs. Personally, I would love to see them in the WWE. Unfortunately, WWE views the women's division less then TNA does. They do not seem to be into hiring women who can actually wrestle and weigh over 120 lbs.
I also can't imagine TNA would let their talent go broke paying medical bills and still expect them to stay. If they got contracts then the wrestlers should have demanded medical treatment in their contract if they didn't then its own them. Hopefully, with the new law, TNA will see its better to get medical insurance for their employees then pay $1500 in fines. That is if the Tea Party doesn't get the law repealed. They are big boys and girls who should know how the business is run when they were in the indies. I am with them getting higher pay and medical, but they knew about all of this when they signed the contracts. If they want to be a wrestler on TV and WWE doesn't want them then at this point they sign the contract, injuries and pay be damned.

The WWE just got better at knowing when to fold them, walk away and run.
Maybe the Wellness Policy is working, but I still can't see how some of the top guys can still look so jacked up without ever making the list. Not to open another can of worms, but it always seemed to me like a bit of a smoke screen when really it's probably agents and road guys keeping better tabs on who is doing what on their down time.
I accidentally posted twice in the same thread like a FOOL

Konnan has been pretty forthcoming about how they charged him for his hip replacement.

Well, if the fans in Greenville have long memories, the fact that Perfect made a habit out of turning on and destroying Ric Flair in both the WWF and WCW might have something to do with it. I'll think of something witty later, I promise.
