Sing this special song. It's just for you.
Main was that the world's largest flying knee or what?

And then it all went downhill from there.

Next up for Brock? Nog? Mir 3? Someone like Kongo or Gonzaga (if they haven't been cut)? The corpse of Cro Cop? Nelson if he survives Carwin?

I think Cain beats JDS.

I think Shields needs to move back up or quit lifting weights.

Diego still looked fat, but at least he came to fight. Thiago needs to be less comfortable on his back. Also: Cardio.

Whomever at Xtreme Couture talked sense into Mike Pyle needs to have a talk with Martin Campman.

Worst. Brocktober Fest. Ever.

Can somebody tell me what the hell THIS was all about??

A very strange exchange involving former World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and his former WWE colleague The Undertaker occured immediately after the fight between Lesnar and Cain Velasquez. The Undertaker, who is a long-time MMA fan, was being interviewed by Ariel Helwani at ringside about his thoughts on the fight. As the two were talking Brock Lesnar walked past and the two of them stared at eache other, with The Undertaker shouting at him “You wanna do it?”.

Wow, I dunno but I'm actually more shocked at hearing Taker talk normal and out of character for so long. I mean, when he was Biker Taker you saw a little more of him breaking kayfabe but it seemed like as long as he played up the Deadman, urn-powered gimmick, he always stayed out of sight. Weird, but cool.

What do you wanna bet it has something to do with how Brock left the WWE? They probably had a few choice words for each other before parting ways.

That looked a lot like Michelle McCool in the background. And when did he go back to BikerTaker? \sarcasm

Not too surprised that he would say he would have gone into MMA instead of wrestling, he does really seem to like it. As far as the exchange...'it's personal'? You think Taker still holds a grudge over how Brock left the WWE? Or that he got the huge mega monster push in the WWE then 'wussed out' after only two years?

Two thoughts:

1) This is the best thing that could have happened for UFC. The inevitable rematch will be a big draw, and they get a myriad of matches within the division before then.

2) Taker is a charming guy out of character, and I wish we could have seen more of this personality in the WWF/E.

So the Dave Meltzer story is Vince wants to do Brock vs Undertaker, UFC Champion vs The Streak, for WrestleMania. Well, wanted to do it, Brock's made that a bit harder. It sounded like this would be news to UFC, at any rate.

That was Michelle in the background.

Undertaker and Michelle McCool are married, for those still not aware. (Don't mention Sara. That's history.)

I think this goes into the bin of ideas like Vince getting Lennox Lewis to face Brock Lesnar in a 'shoot fight' for Mania XIX (I think that was the year). In Vince' mind, it is great. For the organization the person is coming from, it makes little to no sense, especially in this case.

I thought it would be better if Brock kept steam rolling people that way he draws the WWE crowd and the anti Brock crowd. One more loss and he and UFC are going to lose a lot of that.

Lost in this talk about Brock is the fact that Tito Ortiz got his ass handed to him, by a solid Hammil. He's quietly becoming one of the best fighters in the LHW division.

And, Jake Shields, you got a gift last night, don't expect the next fight to be that easy to win (when it looks like you lost)

Both guys rank in the 30s at light heavyweights (if that) so the real gift was letting that fight on a UFC ppv main card, or a UFC card period.

-What's the big deal about Jake Shields? They sold him like the next big thing and he didn't show me anything.

-Let's have Liddell Vs Tito and let both guys retire after.

-Give Carwin a rematch with Brock to put an end to the debate one way or another.

-Brock's loss reminded me a lot of Lashley being destroyed. I really thought Brock was better than that, but he still has less than 10 fights under his belt.

Yeah, gonna have to go with J. Kyle and disagree. I like Hamill, but a KO over a middleweight a razor-thin decision over Jardine and a decision over a guy who hasn't had a victory in four years does not a top fighter make. He's got a great chin and his hands are heavy, but he's slow, he's predictable, and he doesn't execute gameplans very well. The last guys to really test him by coming out aggressive and taking the fight to him were Franklin and Jones, and we saw how those went. Hamill's got potential, but he still looks a lot like the same fighter he was on TUF, and at 34 he doesn't have a huge amount of time to get better.

Shields is one of the best grapplers in MMA and one of the only guys to ever go up a weight division and dominate. He won the EliteXC 170 belt, then had a title vs. title match with Strikeforce middleweight champ Robbie Lawler, choked him out in two minutes, grapple-dominated Mayhem Miller and Dan Henderson and then made the jump to the UFC, where...he really didn't show off anything at all and looked like shit. Kampmann had that fight dead to rights at least two times, and if he had followed up those knees by pulling back and hammering Shields with punches things might have been very different. Instead, we have this.

Honestly, though, Shields is getting a title shot primarily because GSP has wrecked the division. All that's left for him at this point is rematches--Koscheck II, Fitch II, maybe BJ III if he beats Hughes? Maybe Condit, a fight or two from now? Wait for someone like Mike Pyle to put together a streak? The only other name fighter at 170 he hasn't fought yet who might have a claim eventually is Diego, and Diego's now training with the man again, so that's not at all likely. Shields is a fresh face with a credible claim.

Dana already said no to Liddell fighting again, so that's not likely, after his last give-in on the experiment.

Condit and Lytle are on multiple fight win streaks so they should just take a poage out of their heavyweight booking of JDS and hold one of them back for after GSP/Kos, and make the other fight Shields. Then the winner of other/Shields can fight Fitch for a title shot. That'd give the WW title a good solid schedule for a year plus and at the very least delay any rematches. Sure neither Lytle or Condit have any huge wins, though Condit did knock the former number one contender stone cold, but consecutive wins was enough to get Hardy there.

Well, if you're Rich Franklin, how do you feel? It was obvious after tonight that he is without a doubt the second best middleweight in the universe. Sadly, it is his fate to have to fight the best.
