The Giants are better than the Reds, but I fail to see how the Phillies do not win the World Series this year. Game 1 is going to be awesome though.
Halladay will win his starts. He's punching his Hall of Fame ticket this year so I expect nothing less than eight innings of work each start, with no more than two runs.
Phillies in five, because Hamels or Oswalt might lose a game.
After a (very) long hiatus, I have begun to write again. And this time, I'm not alone!

THANK YOU for posting that!!! My friends and I saw them cutting between Manuel and Flair on a muted tv at the bar last night, and we were utterly confused.
You believe me, don't you? Please believe what I just said...

Llakor - I thought the same thing.
And it's pretty well known that Charlie's an old school wrestling fan. He's friends with Jerry Lawler, partly due to Lawler being an Indians fan. When I met the King at Wizard World a few years back, it was right after SI did a profile on Manuel that quoted Lawler. And I figured he'd rather talk about that for our 90 second chat than wrestling. :)

As a Dodger fan, this series is really pissing me off. Phillies stomp the Dodgers in the NLCS two years straight, and then turn around and play like crap against the Hated Ones.
Jayson Werth has taken a lot of heat this season - some of it very much deserved, some not at all. But he is such a clutch postseason performer. That throw to third was so money. I'm gonna hate to see him go. He will be missed. Hopefully, the Phillies can get him one more ring.
Speaking of people who deserve rings, Doc threw approximately 100 pitches after breaking his effing groin! Where does that put him on the various Chuck Norris/Jack Bauer meters? How awesome is Halladay? He was able to get Pat Burrell - the most even-tempered, private player currently playing - to start barking just by looking at him.
If the Phillies pitchers refuse to stop throwing inside to Cody Ross, then please just walk him every time he comes up. This is getting ridiculous.

Puts him a few notches below Curt Schilling...IF they win. Otherwise, it's a forgettable blip on the radar.
We're flying a giant orange "CONAN" blimp over the baseball playoffs. Finally, subtlety in advertising. @ConanOBrien
Dang...and here I was hoping for the mind-blowing media story of a Lee/Halladay Game 1 in Philly. Lee/Lincecum Game 1 in San Fran doesn't have the same backstory, but the pitching match should be epic.
Is there a bigger postseason goat than Ryan Howard this year? Not a single RBI in October and the final out with the game-tying run on 2nd, striking out looking, no less. Oof!
The Giants and Rangers in the World Series. As an L.A. baseball fan, I want to punch my TV.
EDIT: This says it all. Thanks, Deadspin.

Nope. I'll take Howard's .303/.395/.424 over ARod's .219/.316/.281 and 3 RBI's ten times out of ten. If you want to refer to the Phillies' bats collectively as biggest goat, I'll agree.

Well, if Bonds has/had been taking GH, it wasn't going to show up on the test. Also, according to many in and out of baseball, amphetamines are as common in the clubhouse as athletic tape.
