I've hated John Cena and his Superman/AGAINST ALL ODDS schtick for a very long time, but his acting in this angle with Nexus has been incredible (by WWE standards) and is coming close to making me a fan of his (provided he doesn't go back to his old schtick).

OK, Michael Cole, listen, because I'm only going to say this one time.

*ahem*

WE DON'T NEED YOU TELLING US RANDY ORTON IS "HEARING THE VOICES IN HIS HEAD" ANY MORE THAN WE NEED TO HEAR YOU SAY THE MIZ "CAME TO PLAY, SO THERE IS A PRICE TO PAY". THEY HAVE BEEN PLAYING THE SONG FOR FOREVER. WE KNOW THE DEAL. PLEASE, STOP IT. YOU ACTUALLY MAKE ME MISS THAT "APEX PREDATOR" CRAP WHEN YOU REPEAT THE LYRICS FROM THE DAMN SONG IN YOUR COMMENTARY.

Thank you.

Holy fuck shit motherfucker shit. Read comics. Fuck shit shit fuck shit I sold out when I did my job. Fuck fuck fuck shit fuck. Sorry had to do it....

I've been feeling the same. I'm not sadistic so the only Cena movie I've seen is The Marine (although I borrowed 12 Rounds which I may watch at some point) but I'm guessing his acting in this angle is better than any of his "movies". He's really working his ass over to get this angle over and frankly doing a great job. Sometimes he overdoes it a bit with his constipated face but it kinda works with his character & rasslin.

Man...that video...that is the video that WWE's Corporate marketing team sends to the makers of PaperJamz to get them to sponsor the next PPV...it is NOT the video you show to your fans in the middle of your flagship show, bragging about how they break down in terms of demographics. (It also contained at least 2 shots of the current TNA World Champ.) And to follow it up with Michael Cole "the voice of the WWE" speaking Vince's words about elitists looking down on the 'E...that's just ballsy and stupid.

The Linda campaign is hitting the final stages and she is losing ground and was back double digits again in some polls. What's amazing is all the money she has dumped into tv and mailers, and the last close poll I saw a couple of weeks ago had people almost 2 to 1 annoyed with her campaign.

It's going to be interesting to see what they do if she loses this election. Do they go all out the other way? I'm sure Helmsley shows up on television almost right away and surely Vince, probably Mr McMahon.

I've been saying this to friends for months: If Linda loses, we all lose. Mr. McMahon will see to that. Who do you think he's going to take it out on? The WWE Universe!

You think so? I would think it could go the other way, like "screw this PG stuff now that Linda's lost." Not that they would go back to "Attitude" right away, but I'd think the reins would get loosened quite a bit.

If you believe the Mattel deal, they really can't. They have to keep the show at a young age appropriate level. My problem with that, is Mattel's line has sucked. All the figures look the same and if it wasn't for first time figures like Steamboat and the upcoming Savage, there would be nothing that Jakk Pacific didn't make before. They are also peg warmers ie they don't sell well. I also don't buy the age appropriate thing since Avatar and Dark Knight were PG-13. If that is the reasoning then Vince must have been desperate to get out of the Jakk deal which they did sue Jakk and was willing to make any deal even if that meant compromising the show. If that is true, then the toys must bring in some great cash, because since they have been on this trend the ratings have been a roller coaster ride teetering down.

I do think when she loses if the polls are right, you will see Vince come back maybe as the GM. He will be evil Mr.McMahon and probably be the guy behind Nexus as well as de-powering Taker. So, it will be business as usual with Vince being the top heel and everyone else does his doing dirty work. He will keep it PG which is not hard for that character and at the same time make the show boring as ever. HHH return as well and be even more dominant.

Letting the workers blade again would be a start. The "No Blood" policy is stupid, even if it's only due to Linda's campaign. Wrestlers were blading in the Cartoon Era of the WWF/E and that was even more PG than now.

Knowing Vince, I'm sure we'll start seeing someone named Blumenthal on television getting beat up every week, right?

Pretty sure she is going to lose, but according to www.realclearpolitics.com, the latest (not DEAN) Rasmussen poll has her down by 5 points. I'd lean on the larger end after the margin of error is accounted for, but if it went the shorter way, that is a virtual dead heat.
As for no blood, Vince goes through phases for that. In the early/mid 90's he went no blood as well (as did WCW, just ask Dustin).
I'm more inclined they stretch Cena in Nexus out until at least the Rumble, as there is no reason to risk screwing up your meal ticket for 1 month leading into a throw away PPV.

Yes, but then they also had that stupidity when The Outlaw Ron Bass took a spur to Brutus Beefcake and they'd only show replays in B&W with a giant (/) over the screen as well.

Last week, I wrote about how I'm managing my higher expectations for CeNexus. I must concur that Cena's acting has been a high point; his reactions to Barrett's mustache-twirling super villainy has really sold the angle. Not only did I LOL at Barrett throwing the water in his face and his non-reaction to it, but I LOL'd again when he came out for his match, paused on the stage and looked down at the water stain on his purple shirt. It's just water! But no, Cena made it seem like the tears of all the CeNation and their hopes and dreams stained his shirt. I've seen every single John Cena WWE Film and he's better here than in all of them combined.

It's clear at this point in the storyline Barrett doesn't want Cena to be seduced by Black and Yellow Evil or any lofty, dastardly goal. He just wants him humiliated every week for shits and giggles and to force Cena to help him beat Orton (cue Starscream Otunga's eye-rolling). I'm okay with that because they're doing it well. To curtail continuing disappointment, I've decided to just enjoy what they're doing instead of cursing them for not doing more, and it's easy because again, they're doing what they're doing well. (Illogical as it is, Cena's acting actually sort of convinced me a little he didn't want poor Randy Orton to suffer unfairly, despite all the things Orton did to him, including waterboarding him, a year ago.)

I do think though this storyline has plenty of legs beyond Sunday and Monday's RAW. There's still at least one more twist and iteration of the storyline to go, and if Creative is smart and ambitious, it can keep going beyond Survivor Series and into the Royal Rumble (in his hometown of Boston, with me in attendance), which is where, I think, Cena asserting himself and finally breaking free of the Nexus would be most effective on the upcoming WWE events calendar.

Upon watching the show on DVR, I noticed Vance Archer and the Dudebusters backstage when Hornswoggle and his flag summoned team Smackdown, but it seemed they were nowhere to be found come battle royal time. Did they get lost on their way to the ring?

That would also give them an out on firing Cena. As Randy Orton taught us a couple of years ago, it doesn't matter what you do, even DDTing the boss's daughter, if you win the Royal Rumble, you can't be fired.

I realized a continuity error- even though Teddy took the laptop, Cole's claimed the GM has texted him before with orders. Does Cole's cell not work in Canadia?

By the way, did you notice at the end, that Otunga's eyes never left Barrett's raised hand? Little things like that impress me.

My Spidey Sense is tingling. I smell a work, because why bother to insert the scene with Johnny Ace getting into the limo if isn't leading to anything? The post-break scene of Nash riding off into the sunset feels like a dead giveaway.
