Wow! Somebody got a new budget for computer-generated "cinematic" animation to go with their HD! Maybe a bit over the top, but fun to look at - and definitely helped set a different tempo and scene for this double episode.

Who doesn't love a good whodunit? This was a different episode and one which mostly held up to the very end. Most of the really crass stuff was left out and it wasn't necessary. It'll be interesting to see if all the

force the writing staff into anything new and exciting from this point.

Well, it just ended on the west coast, so I'm assuming that the spoiler tags are no longer needed?

As a premier goes, the best way to describe it is "suspenseful". It was a well-crafted mystery and I have to admit that I didn't see the end coming at all. In fact, I really thought they'd take the lazy way out and have it turn out that James Woods concocted the whole thing anyway.

They've done a great job in crafting future plotlines. One of the obvious ones is what happens now between Brian and Jillian? But the other big one that I'm a lot more interested in is...does Lois ever forget that the moment she needed Peter the most, in a life or death situation, he drowned in a sea of stupidity and just walked away? I'd be really disappointed if we didn't get a follow-up to that at some point this season. Maybe for the season finale?

I wonder if the amped-up animation is a one-time thing for the premiere or if it'll stick around for the rest of the series?

The thing to watch for from FG this year is that for as experimental as they've gotten with recent episodes, it hasn't necessarily led to anything FUNNY. Even this episode, you can argue that it was good, but not necessarily FUNNY. So I'm interested in tuning in next week to really see if this show's going back in a funnier direction or if it'll be more of the same crap with a few gems thrown in.

I will say this, for this episode, that was one awesome ending.

I was also a little surprised by the amount of computer effects in the beginning. I thought it might pay off as a joke, but instead it was done to show they actually have a budget this year. The find a Jew application was one of the better jokes as well as Peter dividing up the teams to search the house. The deaths were fairly brutal and I was a little shocked by actually seeing Priscella's death. The entire episode felt like a spring cleaning for characters. I would have been ok if they would have capped a few more off, but a body count of five is not bad.

The end really delivered which begs the question did the shooter know all the time or did he just stumble upon it? Considering, who it was, I am thinking that person knew at a certain point in time. I was pretty well shocked by who the killer was and the rational was pretty tight. Not sure why the killer needed that many people there though. I am pretty good at guessing who the killer is in this type of stuff and I really didn't see it coming til Lois walked in on that person. Yet, I agree as a comedy, it was just ok to good as a murder mystery drama it was pretty damn good.

I just don't see much in the way of future plotlines with Lois. They pretty much forget about it like the time Lois left the room when she got the money for Joe due to telling her father the money was a divorce lawyer. Everyone else yeah, but Peter and Lois seems to be immune to that stuff unless the Chicken.

Seth MAcfarlane had said on twitter that the episode was canon, so it looks like all the characters that got killed off are really gone

All this episode did was make me realize just how much more I like the Simpson's cast of extras or even South Park's extras over the Family Guy bunch of extras.

Maybe they realize that they need to work on that.

Well, the Simpsons had over 20 years to build their cast. i like the Simpson a bit better, but after 20 plus years, they probably needed an episode like this, hell they needed an episode like this 10 years ago. The South Park supporting has bad for years and also lessened over the years especially without Chef.

I feel like the whole episode was a spoof of one specific 80s mystery movie, but I can't put my finger on which ...

Not "Cluey" enough?

(You're probably thinking "Clue" but I thought it was really more kinda "Murder by Death.")

EDIT: I forgot to say earlier - I hope you didn't take a drink every time they played the "collective gasp" sound effect because you'd surely be dead by the end of the episode

I don't see that. The most-recurring character that was offed was the murderer, and they set up who is going to take that character's role as part of the motive.

Spoilering just in case anyone still hasn't seen it:

I'd expect Tom Tucker to be absolved once Lois reveals the truth. The other characters that were offed were all introduced in this episode, with the exception of Woods, who I don't mind retiring as a villain from the series, and Mort's wife, which only opens them up to new and exciting jokes about Mort being single.

This was roughly the equivalent of South Park offing the bus driver and Miss Chokesondick as throwaway lines a few seasons ago.

Ah, but you forgot Jillian's husband Derek. I think I was more thinking about Brian and Jillian getting back together, but maybe we could get Mort and Jillian together?

My bad. I forgot we'd seen Derek before.

Mort and Jillian would be... interesting.

I've seen it, and I thought it was ok. But it's the only opening movie, so it will sell millions of dollars worth of tickets.
