Uh oh. This might not be fun anymore. We've flown too close to the sun on wings of wild and young.

Biggest news: Matt Striker referred to this as a three month competition, which is interesting for a one month show. So they're putting it on the website, or they're putting it on Smackdown, or a third, other option. Three months of these six girls.

First impression: put them all in the bin, don't need 'em.

Second impression: A.J. actually knows what she's doing and has some charisma and can probably be a replacement Mickie James. Maybe Primo, who may've turned babyface on this show just because A.J. is Nice, can ride her to the top. Not like that!

Third impressions: Naomi knew two moves and might get over with whatever small audience will be willing to watch this by winning all the physical competitions.

Things that happened that I sort of remember:

Vickie Guerrero replaced Aloisia with some other girl whose name I'll eventually learn. Vickie bullied her and the girl was like "sorry :-/." At the end of the show A.J. bonked Vickie and her girl into each other. Should've said excuse me.

Horrible matches, with Kelly and your favorite Fox leading by example. Naomi and the reincarnation of Amy Weber blew the finish of their match by accidentally shoot small packaging themselves while the ref, who was probably that hardass shoot ref idiot, counted them down. Then they made it even better by doing their finish anyway.

Michael Cole, Tony Chimel, and Josh Mathews all danced. Josh didn't even pretend to try. Cole was portrayed in a nerdy manner unbefitting the possible future lead heel of Raw but maybe that will play into his "this is why I had to become evil" speech.

In reference to A.J. being from NJ, Josh said that the last diva he dated from New Jersey didn't work out too well for him, sending me crestfallen to wikipedia to confirm that Rue deBona was from Jersey and that they'd divorced in 2008. nooooooooo

My thoughts exactly, cupcake. Wait, sorry, I'm Strikering it up with the sexist condescension.

I said this on the Twitter machine but I'll elaborate: It's actually kind of incredible this show exists at all. It's completely unlike the rest of the homogenized PG programming WWE puts out. I mean, it's shitty and terrible, but in a totally different way than how shitty and terrible WWE normally can be.

I think the NXT announcing is the best in WWE from a forehead slapping entertainment standpoint. Cole and Josh just say whatever the fuck they want and even the stuff they're told to say is usually insulting to someone (usually the talent or the fans). But when something sucks, and so much of NXT sucks, they actually say so. I think it's refreshing. It sounds more often than not like Cole and Josh are being "themselves". (Unfortunately, that goes for Striker as well.)

The botched finish with Naomi and Maxine was amazing. Almost as amazing was AJ and Aksana blowing that leg scissors bulldog spot and then immediately RE-DOING the spot! Way to expose the business repeatedly! But then, I'm a lover of shitty wrestling exposing the wrestling business so NXT season 3 does it for me.

They have to be fully aware that this show's getting canned in a few weeks. It has to be this terrible on purpose, right?

I'm also going to agree that there are no winners here. At least not amongst the Rookies, anyway. Goldust still does, and always shall, rule the universe.

I had to tune this out at the dance competition (giving it more of a chance that I originally thought I would, given the level of Vickie Guerrero involvement). Between Cole, Chimel, and Matthews looking like total dorkburgers and Striker's sexist banter, I couldn't make it to the end.

How many times has this show jumped the shark? Three? Five? How many sharks are in this ocean anyway?

http://nxt.wwe.com/ This is probably going to be where the rest of NXT Divas ends up, sweetums (sorry, sorry).

After all, if Syfy doesn't want this ratings sinkhole on their network anymore, they'd probably be none too pleased if it gets incorporated into Smackdown somehow.

Conspiracy theory: NXT is now designed to be horrible so SD's ratings look even more impressive when the show moves to SyFy. That would seemingly require the channel to agree to this, possibly raising the SD ad rates under the same belief the Tuesday demographics will grow.

13 weeks! 13 weeks! Whoever runs NXT is a mad genius and deserves to take over the whole company. He or she must have watched the FROM NOW ON THIS MOMENT NOW GENESIS and brawl at the end of NX2, saw the reaction online and thought "None of them think I can top this, but I'll show them." And they went out and found a nine foot tall lady. But then they made them dump the nine foot tall lady, so they had to really go all in.

No. Look, you're staying with this. We're all staying with this.

Exactly. 13 weeks. No one gets out alive. (Possibly including some of the contestants).

I like the subtle way they've set up to be NX3's Bryan/Kaval by having Cole reveal that she likes comic books, because comic books = the internet = Cole can hate her. This is masterful, layered storytelling at work.

I assume the breakdown was meant to be that Jamie, AJ and Naomi were the faces, but the crowd turned on the first two. It'll be interesting to see how they react to that. And when I say "see how they react to that", I mean to see someone from this rookie diva class get crushed by a wall of boxed wine during a "run around the ring five times in heels carrying a box of wine" competition in Week 7.

The finish and second finish at the end of the Naomi whoever the other one was match was Vintage NXT. This should be Naomi's gimmick, that she always does two finishes, regardless of whether she gets the win initially. Ideally, they pair her with Alex Riley - disillusioned that the Miz didn't save him - and they do mixed-tag matches every week where a confused Riley attackes Naomi and lays her out for the loss, but she just gets back up and hits her finisher on one of their opponents and pins them anyway.

What? How dare you. Kaitlyn is the new best character in the company. Exploding mailboxes? Wedgies? Doing The Robot, immediately followed by The Elaine Dance, immediately followed by The Kid 'N Play dance? Future Undefined Women's champion and crossover limited engagement movie star. Mark my words. I was crushed they dropped the nine foot tall lady, but Kaitlyn was somehow even better.

I initially missed them switching out Cole for Chimel and didn't recognize Chimel. I thought it was Jeff Garlin from Curb Your Enthusisasm for a minute. Susie Essman would make an amazing Vickie-esque heel authority figure.

Agreed, and the way they both team up to just rip into Striker throughout every show is excellent. Lawler seems to have no real interest in bantering with Heel Cole, but Josh goes back and forth with him and they've created a strangely awesome dynamic of two guys who suddenly realize they work in a completely ridiculous business and just come out and say as much.

I'm surprised by all the negativity. Kinda.

I liked the show. The wrestling was sloppy, but I don't expect much when Kelly Kelly is a pro. I'm liking A.J. the most so far, with Kaitlyn next.

Also, ALSO, make Jamie wear sleeves. Her bi's and tri's are so strong and pointy that she looks like a lady made of crystal shards or a robot designed to look like a feminine yet deadly woman, a clear-cut Terminator 3 situation. Bad news.

This is some Final Fantasy Battle Command shit and I likes it.

Simply a really good suggestion right here, especially when interfaced with the-w.com user OMG its Feely's idea that Alex Riley try to sneak back onto NX3 in drag.

This is why I would both endorse and not endorse Josh taking over for GM Cole on Raw. He's the man but he would never be that man on Raw. (Plus they usually promote the announcers in a clear ladder from ECW/NXT to Smackdown to Raw anyway.)

The competition parts of the show sucked, but just like with the male rookies I like to look at any potential uses for any one of them.

Aksana could totally do the whole glamorous spoiled diva thing, under the mentorship of Goldust.
Let her become the new Marlena including chair, cigar etc.

AJ is spunky. Will probably be used to make others look better.
Naomi..well they will definitely push her superior athletic skill. It's what they did with Kelly Kelly and Eve at first.

I like Kaitlyn. That dress was just erhm. Good. Very good.
And she did try to put some character in there. I bet she will try to do what Vickie wants but end up clocking her.
If they play that right, people will be into it.

As far as WWE allows people to care about their divas.

That's gonna be the worst thing about this show..
Next break-out diva? Erhm. 90% of the current divas are just there and don't do anything that anyone cares about.

When did Kelly Kelly show superior athletic skill?

Not trying to call anyone out, but that statement makes me feel like I missed something. KK debuted on ECW doing a "striptease" as Mike Knox's girlfriend, and then eventually a love interest for Balls Mahoney (and she may have had a crush on Punk at some time).

I've always thought that she has been presented as an attractive blonde. On the other hand I always felt they were trying to teach her how to wrestle so they could keep her around.

Joey Styles is "Straight Shootin'" on NXT3. His blog with the transcript of his live chat commentary on the website replay last night can be found here. He gets some amusing digs in:

http://fans.wwe.com/joeystyles/blog/2010/09/08/highlights_of_my_live_chat_commentary_of_the_nxt_replay_on_wwe.com.__replays_with_my_live_chat_commentary_every_wed_at_7e__4p_

My favorites were Styles also calling out Striker for sexist condescension and...

"AJ worked as a WRESTLER (dirty word) for 3 years to get to WWE. She's not just a model or fitness competitor we found. (ouch)"

"AJ wrapped the tie around the neck. She's fired!"

But also:

"Why do the announcers keep calling these women "girls"? They didn't refer to male NXT Rookies as "boys"."

Yeah, really, Justin, thread starter and titler. "Girl NXT?"

Agreed, and it's even worse for me because I just don't want to even look at her. Perhaps it is because she makes me feel less masculine, or it could be because she looks huge yet emaciated at the same time. It is quite a feat to pull off, but somehow she does it.

I agree with the good Doctor on Kaitlyn. For all the talk of AJ, Kaitlyn easily outshined her and all of them on pure nerdy charisma. And she was a good actress out there, more than I can say for all of the Diva pros. I can only hope that she is not fired next week in a new angle of Vickie bringing out a new girl every week.

Sing this special song. It's just for you.
1. AJ got back.

2. I thought Fox blew the finish by not breaking the pin, but everyone (except the truck, good job monkeys!) blew it by not going with it after Kelly's music. Chimmel, you sir are no Fink.

3. Naomi = girl who can do the split legged moonsault = awesome.

4. If the Nexus angle hadn't happened, Miz and Morrison could have been competing pros on season 3 and Morrison could've trumped Miz with his rookie, Daniella Brianne.

5. Watching Primo talk makes me feel like God created an X Box live patch that nerfed Carlito's stats and hair.

6. This is the greatest NXT season in history because half the pros are worse at wrestling than the rookies.

7. I was hoping Vickie would leave NXT and Gail Kim could've introduced her rookie, Awesome Kong. I then would have died laughing. Like literally. Died. Past the point of the Dragon Balls or a Phoenix Down being any help.

Not that I thought that would happen - surely Kong has a one of those tremendously useful three year contracts to Lucha Libre USA! - but it does make me wonder why there's no exact Daniel Brian/Kaval in this cast. I know AJ's supposed to fill that spot, but she's not nearly as known as those two coming in.

Imagine if they had cast a Cheerleader Melissa or a Sara del Rey in this season. Not only does Cole get to do the 'she may have wrestled around the world, but how many WrestleManias has she main evented?!?!" bit for a third cycle, but they'd surely have everyone ridiculing her looks for not being Playboy enough. (Amazing Kong doesn't quite fit - she's supposed to have a scary certain look, while the others are supposed to be athletes largely not focused on their look. And the point isn't if they are or they are not pretty enough - I like them fine - but it's the bit WWE knows how to do.) It'd be cruel, but they're often cruel. In turn, they get the same Internet sympathy outpouring as when Serena got fired, except they'd get it on a weekly basis and it's for someone who's still employed.

She'd probably win, which might be a problem, though I'm not really sure they care who wins. I think that might be the larger problem, that they really don't care as much about this season to scheme like that.

A few reasons why they didn't pick those wrestlers. One, they are TNA cast-offs expect Sara Del Ray, stupidly thrown away mind you, but still people TNA didn't want. So, it would look like WWE is getting TNA's sloppy seconds. I know people will bring up Kaval, but how terrible that NXT roster looked, sloppy seconds were the best they could do.Also Kaval wasn't used much in TNA near his end, so they can hide his TNA roots. Kong was the face of TNA's division for years. Melissa popped up a few times last year. So, you have those two plus adding Gail as a pro screams "We robbed TNA to do this thing." Second, they don't want real wrestlers. I am sure AJ will find a spot in the roster, but its another Diva Search in disguise. If they had Melissa and Sara Del Ray go for ten minutes with the craziness they do, it would outshine the entire diva division and maybe some of the men. Third, they probably cost more. The independent scene for women like that especially in Japan is probably close to what most of the mid-card guys. I doubt the contract they are getting now is as close as what Kong, Melissa and others would want. Granted, it would be great exposure for them, but they also deal with the WWE work schedule which is a giant pain in the ass. Lastly, there is no reason to drop that much money and exposure on a show that will be off TV in less then a month. I am not sure how they are going to make the move from TV to internet without it being a clusterfuck. It goes with three, why spend money when you really don't have to.

I would have preferred them getting those wrestlers and rebuild the women's division. Its just not going to happen, they will unify the belts, throw it one either Smackdown or Raw and forget about it.

I guess in my mind the one main thing about Kong's departure from TNA was that it's not like they didn't have anything for her or that she was going out on a losing streak, it's that she went out because of Bubba The love Sponge's dumbass remarks and actions. Yeah, most WWE fans may not know that, but also, how many WWE fans know of TNA and would recognise Kong? One look at her and many, many small children would wet their pants, much like when Earthquake squashed the Warrior. Children cried for weeks! Vince eats that shit up. Who wouldn't mind seeing Kong splash the shit out of the Bella Twins or, hopefully, Melina?

This ia patently untrue. WWE has hired R-Truth, Chris Harris, Lance Hoyt, Consequences Creed, Low Ki, Monty Brown and others from TNA. All more visible and obviously "TNA" than Cheerleader f'n Melissa, who appeared only a handful of times without her Raisha Saeed get-up. Their female hiring policy is in no way dictated by TNA - they just don't give a shit about hiring good female indy workers.

And out of those people you named, R-Truth is the only one that worked. Monty Brown could have been big unfortunately, his family issue rightfully so took precedent. R-Truth's true roots were as K-Quick before he went to TNA for those old timers who remember him. Everyone else is either in FCW or no longer working for WWE. R-Truth falls into the same category like Christian, Gail and Jeff. They went to TNA to hone their craft a bit more and came back. Granted, R-Truth was gone a lot longer then most, but he was a WWE guy to start off with.

While I agree with you that they don't want to hire good indy women wrestlers being one of their chief reasons, I do think shoving Melissa, Gail, Kong and say ODB on this show would scream TNA Knock-off. You can't tell me they won't make money off of Kong. Yet, she was the face of TNA for awhile and they are probably hesitant to hire her. Granted, she is no longer with the company and maybe after a year away from TNA, she will be hired, but why Vince hasn't hired her or even Melissa who has the look is beyond me.
