She's the next Alanis Morissette.

Pretty good album, for someone on TRL.

Not sure I'd go that far. Anyone with a song titled "Sk8er Boi" can't be compared to the angst-ridden Ms. Morissette.

And if I hear another Canadian media outlet refer to her as "punk" I might have a fit...

If I hear anybody else ever referred to as "The Next Alanis Morisette", I'll shoot somebody. I HATE ALANIS. Jagged Little Pill was a flash in the pan! I like Avril Lavigne's sound...and the fact that I could probably score with her if I really tried... (Hey, she's young and Canadian...LIKE ME!)

No More Alanis, Please!

She does sound a lot like Alanis, not like these other Alanis clones (Michelle Branch).

Also Alanis's post Jagged Little Pill records have been good.

I feel dirtier every time I see Avril Lavigne. God mothafriggin BLESS Canada.

God I just love the movement towards chicks that look, you know, NORMAL (hint, hint, Titney) and have soul-piercing voices.

Yep!

Normal=Avril

Studio creation that doesn't sing her own songs and like to do stuff because she's Britney"Everyone look at my nipples" Spears=Britney Spears

I'm pissed that BS may doing a few eps of Buffy next season,if she does it is offically has jumped the shark.
She's also gonna do a movie about NASCAR,(I'm sorry i live in the south, you try to avoid it.) another thing I like.

We could stay on opposite sides of the spectrum......BUT NOOOOOOO!!!!

She has to be a little bytch and come and ruin my little world.

Hell, next we'll see her come out on RAW in li'l pink shorts and fight Trish and win the Women's Title and that will be the fall of the women division and the WW(F)E.

:::::::come down from rageful state::::::

Well,Avril,I like her.

I am kinda digging Avril. In fact she's part of this group of young, somewhat talented girls writing their own songs that's making me question my snob credentials by my enjoying them. Between her, Vanessa Carlton, and Michelle Branch it seems a little movement is beginning to emerge. Perhaps between girls like this, and the ever-vague but seemingly constantly growing "emo" genre, perhaps these are the movements that are going to wash away the bad taste of frat-boy rap-rock and pre-fab producer-driven pop singers. Or maybe I'm just hoping for Lance Bass to get shot into space and stay there ;)

Avril's getting WAY too much play here in Canada. I'm sure the backlash will start soon.

I Heart Vanessa Carlton, however...gotta love that piano.

Apparently Avril "mooned" the crowd at the MuchMusic Video Awards on Sunday due to her low-slung jeans. That's all I know about her.

Vanessa Carlton's like the greatest thing right now. I love the piano music (and damn Ben Folds Five for breaking up), and she has a really good voice to go along with it. One can only hope that Carlton, Lavigne, and Michelle Branch can get the blonde bimbos out.

I hear that it's been confirmed dead. And this wasn't the first time she's been rumored to be in the show. She was rumored to be April in "I Was Made to Love You"

But in GOOD news of who's going to be back, Anthony Stewart Head has signed on for 13 Episodes, Amber Benson has signed on for 13, Eliza Dushku has agreed to come back for an arc(not sure if it's Buffy or Angel for this one), and Mark Metcalf(The Master) has signed on for part of the season(might be 1, a flashback, might be more.. who knows with Joss)

Yes, I watched the MuchMusic Awards replay...and yes, we could see a whole lot of Avril Lavigne's ass. AND WHAT AN ASS IT IS... Let's steer this thread back where it's supposed to be... AVRIL LAVIGNE. She's a new artist, she's got, and she's hot-hot!

Ah, youth...

Avril Lavigne sucks. That whole mess at the beginning of her song is just so damn stupid. "Uh uh... come on... that's how life is, that's the way it is" or whatever she's saying. Gimme a break. Whether she writes her own songs or not, she's still a gimmicky, gimmicky artist. She and Vanessa "Be Not Nobody" Carlton are like Staind for young girls. Just so full of angst and deep, deep thoughts.

I'm gonna go write tortured songs about my search for an identity now, and then whine a lot and pout in the mirror.

(Apologies for all the bile spewed above. I just... dislike... Avril Lavigne)

Avril does write her own songs, so she's not a gimmicky artist.
Most of the album is feel-good, not angst-ridden.

The point wasn't about if she writes her own songs...

I saw the first minute or so of her video, and might I just say I'm unimpressed. She's not particularly hot or anything, and her music isn't all that great either. Of course, I said the same thing about Alanis around "Jagged Little Pill"... Vanessa Carlton doesn't do much for me either, except for one break in "A Thousand Miles". That, and she has at least pulled off the pouty look. Michelle Branch, though, has some talent... I'll admit to actually liking "All You Wanted".

After reading the lyrics again, most of them are angst-ridden.

The video is a little cheesy, especially at the beginning, but its all right.

Well, having just seen the MMVA broadcast this evening, I feel the urge to channel Tony Schiavone and proclaim that The Greatest Live Performance In The History Of Our Sport! She just kept bouncing and dancing, totally oblivious to the fact she was in full plumber mode! And I have to say, I like that in a performer who looks like that.

Apparently, Avril's only 17.

I find it hard to tell Vanessa Carlton and Michelle Branch apart

I guess this is a rhetorical question. Can it really be considered "new music" if they utterly, completely, and shamelessly rip off old bands? Thou shalt not mistake inspiration for mind-numbingly pretentious raping of style.
