Were they testing out Sheamus for a face run by seeing how he could sell and play the underdog? (And not that I mind Slater pinning Sheamus on paper, but if they are going to have a PPV in three weeks with Wade Barrett challenging Sheamus, shouldn't HE have been the one to pin the champ, if only so he can beat it into the ground that he pinned the WWE champion headed to the PPV?)

Pride? He keeps touting that he's the WWE champion, he's untouchable, wakka wakka wakka. Also, Nexus called off the truce, so he probably wants a piece of their asses too.

Well, that or Edge and Jericho are smarter than him and decided that instead of fighting Nexus and getting beaten down, they'd hit the bricks, stay fresh and let everyone else take their lumps.

Well, if the PPV was this week that would be smart, but it is three weeks away. Unless, they consider this a pre-season
game then ok, that makes sense. I do think they are starting to show that Sheamus does have a backbone and I can see him surviving Night of Champions.

Jericho's contract I believe his up around that time, so I can see him leaving. Hopefully, a little more dignified then last time, but something tells me a returning pedigree or an F-U out of nowhere will be his last moment as well as a chorus of "Hey, Hey Goodbye." Since that went so well the last time, oh wait it didn't. The fans booed the hell out of it and then cheered as Kurt destroyed John thus setting into motion, the fans hatred of Cena for a long period of time. Times are different now and Jericho is a better heel, so I am thinking they will sweep him under the rug and in true McMahon fashion bar any mention or feature of him after the next PPV. I am hoping he doesn't leave just when they finally put out his DVD, but this run was more of a padding the retirement fund while proving he is the best wrestler WWE has.

Making stuff up as you go along is a part of wrestling, and toning down the product has happened before, but the laziness this company has shown latley when it comes to putting together a card is right up there with Manny's 2010 season with the Dodgers.

At least wrestlers aren't to blame.

I guess you missed the EDDIE chants, much louder than any SCSA or The Rock pop.

Sho'nuff:

And yeah, if the new PG-rated sponsors would have allowed it, I can think of at least five or six things off the top of my head that would have been more crude and vulgar than the "most heinous acts" ever committed by Monday Night RAW Superstars according to CM Punk:

Austin threatening McMahon with a gun.
Mae Young giving birth to a hand.
"I choppy-choppy your pee-pee!"
The Dudley Boyz putting Fabulous Moolah (or maybe it was Mae Young) through a table.

But let's not turn this into a list-thread or anything.

For some reason it's not mentioned in the synopsis at the top of this thread, but when Punk said "I've got two words for you," they were "Katie Vick." Which I think has to top every possible list of wrestlecrap.

It surprised me that WWE let him bring that up at all -- Punk even said that if you didn't remember Katie, you should go look her up on YouTube. :)

At least at Night of Champions, we will have only one boring women's division instead of two.

Punk said he would never dump someone in the water after pointing out one of the clips (didn't he GTS Chavo into the Gulf of Mexico while both were on ECW?)

And one of my favorite moments...Cena actually getting pinned by a lesser known superstar when Gabriel did the 450 splash (perhaps and maybe Cena is not totally Superman).

Interesting Raw and you kind of had to expect Nexus was going to pick up the win after losing at Summerslam.

Welcome home, men of the 2nd Bn, 127th Infantry, 32d "Red Arrow" Brigade, WI Army National Guard! Job well done in Iraq!

Actually, Sign Of The Night: "PRO WRESTLING > SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT"

Punk's promo was most awesome. Glad to see him steal HBK's faux-entrance-interruption bit from his years-back SummerSlam feud with Hogan. (And I forgot how well Show does a Hogan promo.)

Edge's episode # and Matt Hardy references DID rock the casbah, but a Muppet Labs reference? Night over, Edge wins.

So Cena DID wear his new Lakers-colored shirt in the Celtics' backyard. Fercryinoutloud, John, it's your hometown...get 'em to let you wear a Pats, Celts or Red Sox jersey out there, then take it off atop the stage to reveal your buy-this-on-ShopZone gear!

Speaking of which, Miz's new shirt is made of win.

900th (-ish) episode and no Vinnie Mac promo? I'm pleasantly surprised. NXT guys get a match? Surprise #2.

Please don't go, Jericho.

I took this as being said tounge-in-cheek by CM Punk.
