Ugh, is all i have to say.

I am glad that these guys got themselves a paycheck, but this event was nostalgic 5 years ago, this year it is starting to get sad.

This card was an embarrasment, and not a great way to showcase, or remember the old ec-dub boys.

I know exactly how I feel about this show, but don't really know how to put it into words... I guess it's like, if One Night Stand was what ECW could have been if it ever achieved it's full potential and fired on all cylinders, this felt like what it would have been if they had just sadly kept on trucking after the company went under and the trademarks were sold to Vince.

That said, sad as it was, it wasn't terribly offensive or anything, and it was certainly better than I thought it would be, at least in terms of being entertained. I really can't crap too hard on a show that had Bubba get the little kid "pretend you get stabbed by sticking the toy sword in your armpit" treatment in the lightsaber duel (yes, there was a toy lightsaber duel) and SELLING IT. That entertained me immensely.

Me and five other friends were watching UFC 117 last night and decided on a whim and a laugh to get together and watch this, which we used to do regularly with major wrestling pay-per-views until a few years ago.

I really, really dug the Scorpio vs. CW Anderson match. Everything else was...well, pretty bad. Except Tracey Smothers, who at whatever age he is, is still more awesome than pretty much everyone.

The setup for Raven/Tommy Dreamer killed the heat for their match. They didn't need to do anything other than say there's a long-standing rivalry. Even the TNA live crowd, which swallows crap every week and chants wildly for it, laughed at it and mockingly chanted "Uncle Scotty." And they were DEAD DEAD DEAD for most of this match. That said, I expected it to be a hundred times worse than it was.

"THAT'S SO TNA" MOMENT
When they not only had all the TNA guys do interviews putting over ECW (backwards), but they didn't even identify them. I haven't watched in a long-ass time, and the guys with me kept saying "who was that?" And I said "I don't know, but I'm sure an on-screen graphic or the commentary team will tell us or make some sort of vague allusion to help us figure it out."

Nope!

Way to go, guys.

It was fun and it was all it needed to be. Any thing with a lightsaber duel is a win for me since my first ECW memory was New Jack using the Captain America shield, so that made me smile. I thought the TNA stars remembering ECW dragged the show down a bit. Stevie vs. Justin Credible was probably the weakest match while Scorpio/Anderson was pretty damn good. Raven beating Tommy was anti-climatic even though it was the bloody match it needed to be. Gertner was great again. RVD/Sabu can be taken anywhere and be good to awesome. I'll slammed for liking it, but its been the most fun I've had with a PPV and in hindsight, I should have had my friends down for this instead of SummerSlam which will be a one match PPV while we wonder why we bought it in the first place much like Mania this year without the giant WWE hype machine making us believe it would be great.

Also, if Vince is going to sue TNA for using ECW then why didn't WCW sue them for the whole DX invasion back in the day? Or maybe they did and I forgot about it.

I would watch this year's WrestleMania ten times over before bothering with this show again. I think most right-thinking people would too.

I think what baffles me about people like you, lotjx, is not just your slavish devotion to bashing WWE for no logical reason. No, it's spending money on a show - and then praising it - which was an imitation of shows that were exactly the same five or ten or fifteen years ago, only worse and slower and more embarrassing. One Night Stand 2005 was fun. Most of ECW's original PPVs were fun. Why not spend ten dollars on a copy of them, rather than watching something painfully bad for three times the price?

Oh right, TNA brand loyalty. In all seriousness, I doubt Vince gives a rat's ass about them running a lukewarm-to-cold ECW rehash. Vince seems personally annoyed by people like Flair, Hogan and Foley thumbing their noses at him, but TNA itself isn't a serious business concern.

WCW didn't own the copyright to DX. The copyright to ECW Vince bought in bankruptcy court, thus, what is the purpose of owning a copyright if a competitor can use your 'intellectual' property to promote their event?

As opposed when I make a positive post about TNA, you run in here like a mad man, bashing it hence why I said "I'll probably get bashed for saying this." in my first post. It wasn't brand loyalty, it was due to the fact nothing was on TV worth watching. I bash WWE when I feel like bashing WWE when I feel like they fucked up. I praised WWE for the build up to Mania which I thought was the best since X-7 which if you know me, its damn high praise. This year's Mania had a few good matches and a great match as opposed to early Mania's which had mostly good matches with two or three great matches. My friends and I were both left kinda lukewarm at the end of this year's Mania, sorry we don't fit in the right minded individual category for you.

As for the PPV itself, it was good not great. They got the feel of the ECW fun aspect which has been missing in wrestling for awhile. I would watch it again and probably will this weekend when my friends are up or at least show them parts of it prior to buying SummerSlam since you know I am such a brand loyalist. SummerSlam's only match I want to see is Team Cena vs. Nexus and that has more to do with if they have the balls to do something like turn Cena or have Nexus actually win. Nothing else on the card is pumping me up, I mean Rey vs. Kane, a divas match and SES/Big Show is all they have with a week left to go. I am sure Dolph/Kofi will be added as well as other matches, but nothing is making me think its going to be more then a one match PPV which is sad since SummerSlam is the second biggest PPV of the year. At least Mania got me excited for all the matches, SummerSlam I am just dreading another repeat of Mania and another round my friends and I wondering why we watch this when its all the same, big hype, one great match, everything else is forgettable. At least with this PPV, I have the image of the lightsaber duel, Too Cold/Anderson, the crossface barded wire and most of the spots of RVD/Sabu. I was expecting a disaster and was somewhat pleasantly suprised.

Also, I am talking about when HHH mentioned WCW as well as the rest of DX showing up at an WCW event while promoting their own event. Or when Bischoff challenged Vince to a fight at a PPV. WWE didn't own the WCW copyright, but were willing to use it to not all promote the upcoming PPV, but to push DX.

Your positive TNA posts are also your negative WWE posts, as you seem incapable to talking about one without bringing up the other. And you glossed over my first point - as a standalone show, this offers nothing that One Night Stand 2005 and countless other original ECW PPVs don't offer cheaper, and at better quality too. It's a worthless show, which is as unsurprising as you shockingly managing to proclaim it the best time you've had with a PPV. If these are indeed your genuine opinions I go back to what I said earlier - I'm genuinely baffled as to how someone who professes to be a reasonably intelligent fan of pro wrestling could be so fully devoted to such a bad product.

I'm gonna shut up now to avoid the wrath of our fearless leader.

If Vince is a smart man, he doesn't sue for what they've done so far.
I doubt anyone is really interested in seeing these guys on a regular basis. Not even lotjx, I assume.

So if anyone goes "what was ECW like anyways?" they need to buy dvds and what not that Vince makes money on.

Sueing TNA for dropping that name a few times only makes him look like the bad guy and it would give TNA actual momentum in their "us vs the corporate machine" thing.

Far more important for TNA's momentum would be this Thursday's Impact. Did they plug that one during the ppv?

I wasn't really into ECW when it was on back in the 90's. I watched it casually if it was on television here but I didn't follow it religiously or anything because I was not a big fan of hardcore wrestling.

That being said, I found the show enjoyable. I didn't know the back stories of a lot of wrestlers on the card but I was entertained throughout the night.

Sure the backstage spots with the TNA stars talking about "that Philadelphia based promotion" were a little corny but I can't complain.

I thought that the main event was really good - I wasn't really impressed with Rob Van Dam in TNA so far but I thought it was a really good showing from both him and Sabu. Tommy Dreamer and Raven was fun, as well.

I'm was happy that they didn't do a lot of excessive violence because I think that would have made it a tad less enjoyable for me. I don't really like the stuff with Abyss and the glass or barbed wire, honestly.

Sure it wasn't the best event I've seen (still have to give that to Lockdown) but I don't think it was completely horrible.

I know I'm probably not the target audience that they were going for since I wasn't a big fan but it seemed like the wrestlers were really into it and it.

I didn't see the other ECW pay-per-views that WWE put on so I can't really compare it with them.

Heard that Tommy at the end of the PPV said TNA wrestlers we raised the bar tonight it's on you now. Dreamer might be the most deluded person in Wrestling which says a lot.

What is he supposed to say? "Sorry we're all old and slow and can't even bothered to pretend we hate each other anymore. Thanks for coming, leave some cash in the tip jar at the door please!" The whole point beyond spiking a buyrate is to tie the legacy of the imagined and idealized ECW into TNA 2010, making them the new rebellious and innovative promotion. Whether that succeeded or not is up to you, but you can't blame Tommy for doing his job.

Of the people who performed last night, are the likely candidates to continue in TNA the people who were already working there -- RVD, Stevie, 3D, Rhino, Raven? Did anyone seem to earn a roster spot?

After last night, Dreamer and Raven deserve to have their spots given to someone else.

A few of the guys looked okay - Axl Rotten got kinda skinny (for him), and I've always liked Little Guido - but there was nobody where I thought "TNA must sign this guy." But I thought the whole show was sad and I felt bad for everyone involved so I might have been biased. I said "this show is making me hate wrestling" more than once as the night went on.

Or, and this especially possible with Sandman around, they ran up a tab at the local bar and left it for the TNA wrestlers.

Tommy was being serious. The last PPV reportedly had 8000 buys, if this one does 10000 then they did raise the bar.

Which in and of itself is pretty sad IMHO.

If Scorpio lost 30 pounds and wore a mask he could take a Superstars spot.

I thought it was funny that they couldn't use their ring names. Though Balls Mahoney becoming Kahoneys was prtty funny.

Conspiracy theory time. Remember when AJ Styles turned heel and some thought Styles was purposely being sabotaged so they could shuffle him to the bottom of the roster? Is there any chance that this show is the same thing?

There were rumors for a while that the big change coming to TNA was they were going to drop PPVs. Maybe some in TNA think it's a good idea and others don't. So the ones that think it is a good idea come up with the idea of an ECW PPV, hoping that it will bomb. Then the following Thursday they deliver with a better PPV quality show on free TV. Then they have their proof that they don't need PPVs.

Probably way too much thinking for anybody in TNA but it's the only reason I can think of to actually let this show air.

I'd like to see CJ Parker in a manager role. He's really good on the mic, but his ringwork is Dull City, USA. The real highlight of this episode was definitely the tag match, where both teams came off looking pretty good.
