Yes, I know in advance that the writer of this article is a sanctimonious jackass. But, he is correct this time in the second portion of this article, at least if you want to try to save some money this football season.

Prices are still high and getting higher for many goods and services, even in this recession, so singling out one such practice is a bit silly to me. I think the real culprit here is cable and the NFL Red Zone Channel. I have waffled on going to DIRECTV for the Sunday Ticket before, but last year's debut of a channel that shows me all the good parts of every NFL game on Sunday sways me back. I would not therefore be surprised to hear that the RZ channel has caused lower than expected early sales for NFL Sunday Ticket.

As an aside on the first topic, Phil might be correct about Karros, but I loved his play for the Dodgers. Therefore Mushnick gets the usual Steve Austin salute for his entire article.

I had Sunday Ticket last season, because I was new to Directv. It was great being able to see the Giants every week. However, five $65 payments this season just won't work for me. I'll have to stick to whatever the networks deem I need to see (Rams, Bears and Chiefs BLAH!)

Welcome home, men of the 2nd Bn, 127th Infantry, 32d "Red Arrow" Brigade, WI Army National Guard! Job well done in Iraq!

Some source from this week's Packer stockholder meeting @ Lambeau Field (I can't remember which one) said that the Packers will be showing NFL Network's Red Zone Channel on the JumboTrons @ Lambeau Field DURING GAMES this fall.

Frankly, I'll have to see it to believe it.

Boy, that'd be the desperation move to end all desperation moves. "Here, watch the best parts of all the other NFL games, and please pay no attention to our Packers!"

I agree with you, however. I wouldn't be surprised if someone actually did this at some point, but the Packers are too good of a team (to say nothing of "too steeped in tradition") to do this.

EDIT: Now, at halftime? I could see that.

It was said that it would happen during commercial breaks, not during the game.

Primetime Sport was talking about this a few weeks ago, apparently what is going to happen is that the red zone channel is going to be fed to all the stadiums and that it is up to each individual team as to how or if they are going to use it.

It one of the things that the league is using in order to make a better in stadium experience to get more people out instead of staying at home with the big screen HDTV's

I for one am glad that it's a full year suspension. Goodell set up the player conduct policy because players were getting in legal troubles that were hurting the image of the league.
