This morning I was thinking about a Christian and how sad it was he's been reduced to jobbing, especially since he held the IC title and all. Then I remembered how he also held the Euro title, and just having a title really helped his character (and hey, I'm a HUGE Christian mark). Then the moment hit:
I couldn't remember who currently holds the Euro strap. Yeah, it came to me eventually (Regal), but the fact that it was not readily obvious to me made me realize how de-emphasized the Euro strap is. (Of course, thinking of that makes me think how de-emphasized ALL the belts are right now, save for the CW and Women's - there's not even a tag title defense this Sunday!) ANYHOW, keeping to the idea, any ideas what should be done with the Euro strap? Offhand, it would be nice to somehow return it to the level of significance when Trips held it and lost it to D-Lo in '98. That was a huge mark-out moment for me, and really elevated the belt. Since then, it has been in decline or outright neglect.
Yeah, I was just thinking about the Euro strap a couple days ago. They really need in on Smackdown! for all the midcard guys to fued over. Raw already has the IC title so why can't they share the love? I guess Smackdown has the tag titles (which haven't been defended on Smackdown in a couple weeks) and the cruiser title, but they need a normal singles title. Christian or Storm would be perfect Smackdown guys for the belt. Since Vince owns both shows now maybe something can get worked out- probably not, though. They seem content with leaving the tiles how they are.
And speaking of titles, why have they not made the tag titles floating yet? They really need the tag titles to be defended on Raw also. Plus, if you moved the Euro title to Smackdown and made the tag titles floaters then the shows would still be equal in terms of titles.
Especially because every tag team that isn't Billy and Chuck is on RAW. (Nothing spectacular, mind you, but there's the Hardyz, X-Pac and Show, Booker T and Goldust. A fued with Maven and Snow against Regal and Chris Harvard would be interesting.)

There's definatley been more than afew occasions in the past couple months where I couldn't for the life of me remember who had the European championship. It's actually happened with the IC belt, too. I'm gonna chop it up to the KOTR tourney and wrestlers having more important things on their minds than titles. Speaking of titles, only two are being contested at KOTR, the Undisputed and the Women's. That's gotta be a record low!

Well, if you count those old Survivor Series where the entire card was eight or ten man tags, then those would have had zero title defenses. Also, I don't think there were any title defenses at Invasion last year if you are looking for something more recent.
But yeah, I wish the tag titles were getting defended. But then I think, even if they were, who would they face? It would just be a crappy randomly generated team competeing for the tiles just for the sake of having a tag title defense.
There have been several times since WrestleMania when I have had to stop and think who the WWF Champion is, much less the secondary titles.
As for the European Title, I have said since the split that they need to move it to Smackdown so those guys can fight for it the same way they would the IC Title.

Yeah I forgot for a while who the Euro champ was. As long as the champion doesn't make a big deal why should we? When I think back to the good Euro champs I think of Snow, Angle, and Regal's first run. But then I think of the more recent champs and none of them have made an effort.
I just have 13 words for you. How much wood would a woodchuch chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
The CW title is also up for grabs at King of The Ring. Last year's INVASION had the hardcore title on the line for sure, but I'm pretty sure there was a tag team title match, too.

As far as Christian, if he wins the Unified World Title, he'd have one every singles title in the company.
Tag Champ, LHW Champ, Hardcore Champ (see WM18), Euro Champ and IC Champ.
You know, now that they have the former WCW CruiserWeight Title instead of the old WWF Lightheavyweight Title, Chris Jericho is the only man to have held all 6 mens titles possible to earn in the WWF right now.

Why hasn't Angle ever won a tag team belt? It's not like they are afraid to hot-shot the much respected tag team titles after all. Maybe it's because Angle has never been in an established tag team that stretches back years like Rikishi and Rico.

Or it could be that Kurt Angle's name never comes up in the random tag team generator when they need a tag team for a title match that the champs is gonna lose...
Kurt Angle just doesn't seem fit for a tag team, even a makeshift one of the Austin/Michaels mold. And I don't mean in a "Don't Trust Anyone" way ala Austin, or a "I don't need any help" way like Triple H. I don't know why, he just doesn't seem right.
I guess it could work if he wins the belts with some face, only for that face to get annoyed with having to spend time with the dorky Angle. But then, we already had the Rock n' Sock Connection once.

There's a simple way to get heat on any title. And that's to have a tourney for it. I'm sure an argument could be made for Regal not having defended within the 30 days required, so why not have him stripped? He doesn't need the belt to be over. Then, (this is after KOTR let's say at the show before the July PPV) have a 20 man battle royal, with the last four men meeting in a four-way match for the European belt at the July PPV. And have the guy who wins actually wrestle and cut promos and have people chasing him. Make that man Lance Storm, and have him almost lose the title several times over the course of his run but have the decisions reversed because the calls against him were 'prejudiced'. That...I assure you, would get the title over.

The European should either be moved to Smackdown or abandoned altogether, IMHO. I wish the WWF would make a new belt for the Cruiserweight title instead of using WCW's 6-year-old Cruiserweight belt. Did X-Pac lose the Light Heavyweight belt in airline baggage or something since the damn thing hasn't been seen since he was wearing it at a house show during October 2001.

Yeah that is a pretty good idea. As long as the title is on every week and the champ makes a big deal out of being the champ.
