I was paid to say that, I am make the whole $10 of TNA internet PR. You need the ruckus crowd to make it an ECW event. If you don't have that electric atmosphere then its another indy show with some ECW alumni in it. The impactzone has its own style and all which works from them. Yet, even Vince realized you need that crowd to make it work. As for the ROH /TNA relationship, I can see it being strong enough as a one time deal and it won't shock me to maybe see an ROH ad on Impact prior to the PPV.
If Mike Tenay's calling the action and not Joey Styles, it's not ECW.
If they're not allowed to call it ECW, it's not ECW. (For precedence, see: "The Band")
I'm with HMD on this one. Reviving ECW is about as bad an idea as reviving WCW. It's dead. It's over. Stop trying to revive it, because every attempt to do so just makes things worse.

Normally I've got no issue with lot here, as most of the criticism against him seems to be simply because he likes TNA. And heaven forbid someone actually like TNA, even though it's a far more watchable product right now than anything the WEEEE shits out.
But, uh, you're on your own here dude. Wow.
Michigan against the SEC: 20-5-1 (7-3 in bowl games)
If you can put Mrs. Congeniality on there, you may as well throw out beulah and Francine, too.
Also, how awesome would it be for the PPV to open with The Xombie coming out to cut a promo: "UUUUUUH~!!!!!! AAHHHHHHH~!" only to be beat down by The Extremists.
TNA is pushing an ECW invasion. They're also pushing a game-changing surprise that obviously has not been easy to put together and involves delicate negotiations. It can all only mean one thing.
They've signed or are about to sign Steve Austin. Who will come into the company in full Steve-a-Mania mode in order to finally have that feud with Hogan.

Of all these names listed I would only be interested in seeing one of them actually ever wrestle again and that is Sabu.
Yes, I don't even wanna see RVD vs. Lynn, because I just don't care about "ECW" in 2010!
I also don't wanna see Foley get back in the ring ever again. And in my opinion he is a WWE guy, not a ECW guy, by the way, because he achieved his real success there.
I liked the old ECW (would still watch it on DVD) and I sometimes even liked WWE's version of it (e. g. when CM Punk and Christian ruled), but come on, let it rest in peace already!

The last time Lance Storm wrote a commentary about the WWE (aside from the reviews of the Wrestlemania DVDs he's watching chronologically) was the Viewer's Choice episode of Raw that ended with the introduction of Nexus. And he spent a majority of that commentary ranting about how horrible the first 2h45 minutes of the show were and how the WWE was shitting all over professional wrestling. And prior to that, his last commentary to talk about the WWE was his Wrestlemania Predictions thread.
His last TNA rant was clear back at the beginning of April when he announced that he was no longer going to watch TNA due to Rob Terry taking an unprotected chair shot to the head and that didn't really focus on TNA at all, it focused on concussions and steroid abuse. If he's getting paid to shit on TNA, he's apparently not earning his keep.
To paint in very broad strokes, Lance Storm is just a general crankypants about contemporary wrestling in both companies; you can hear him sigh his way through every current event semi-monthly on a F4Wonline audio shows (although there's generally more to complain about re: the one that's been steadily unraveling since March 8). I still like him though, he says "hill of beans" a lot.

Not the best five day span to usher in that premise?
Listen, it is not like "Hard Justice" has any cache anyways as a PPV. And with the recent info about TNA pay per views doing under 10,000 buys (Meltzer reported this), I don't have a problem with TNA trying something different.
It's an experiment, and with Dreamer being the architect behind it (like a contemporary Ellen Page), there will at least be more of the "spirit" of ECW than the WWE version that was almost nothing like ECW. My only request is a bWo vs. Young Bucks match on this PPV.

There's "trying something different" and there's "throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks". If you overload the fanbase with status quo change after status quo change after status quo change, more and more fans start to bail out because there's no core audience left. WCW made this mistake in the late 90's, going from the Bischoff era to the Russo era to the Sullivan era to the Bischoff/Russo era until the fans just got fed up with it and stopped coming back. There's something to be said for stability and starting the ECW era a short six months after starting the Hogan era doesn't sound like stability.
That said, I'd LIKE for this to do well, because I like TNA, despite some of the comments I make. I want them to succeed because it's fun to have two successful wrestling companies out there.
But for as much as I want this to succeed, I wonder if fans will buy it or if TNA is in for a rude awakening, along the lines of that 1.1 that their Hogan/Flair tag match drew.
By the way, now every time I look at Ellen Page, I'm going to see Tommy Dreamer. Thanks a lot. That's going to replace the whale in my nightmares.

Hey, it will turn Juno into a completely different viewing experience. And really, Dreamer usually looks like he's pregnant anyways.

I've actually paid to see Sabu in the last three months - well, paid to see a PPV that also included Sabu - and also seen him in a wrestling match on national TV. It's nothing you want to see in 2010. And Sabu's probably the better ones, because it's been a while since he's been in TNA.

As a general comment here, I think you're absolutely right. I'm not sure how it applies to the current situation, though. I mean, as of now they're saying that this is going to be a one-off PPV, right? That doesn't really change the landscape of anything. It's a chance to try to sell some nostalgia PPVs and maybe get some of the regulars to come along for the ride. As long as it *stays* a one-off--that is, as long as they don't turn it into a big angle after the PPV or bring in a whole bunch of ECW alums (one or two would be fine, if any actually impress)--then I don't really think it's a problem. (I'm not particularly convinced it will be successful, commercially or artistically, but I don't see it really hurting the company.) If it does turn into an ongoing storyline of note, that's another story.

I think the problem is that this is no-win, unless suddenly the 300,000 or so who bought the original One Night Stand all decide en masse to purchase this.
If the PPV does succeed in spiking the buy-rate or the tv ratings any, how do you justify not continuing with the angle/performers who gave you more success than usual? And if it fails you've essentially derailed your promotion's plans in favor of a vaguely connected nostalgia angle and pretty much announced that they have no faith in their current model. I just don't see how anything good comes out of this for TNA that couldn't be acheived by using their normal wrestlers.
