The debate is going as to what characters should get a show.
I think Daredevil could make for a pretty cool show. Part Law and Order, part Heroes.
They key is to find heroes that don't require a ton of special effects. I'm think guys like Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
I agree Daredevil would be awesome (and Nielsen loves procedurals) with Matt being Law and DD being Order, but nothing nothing nothing needs to be part Heroes.
In keeping with limited TV budgets and his experience working around that on the live action Tick, a Damage Control series by Ben Edlund would be epic.
Also I don't care what it is, get Brian Fuller on something. Let him play in the mystic/horror corner; Howard the Duck, Dr. Strange, Werewolf by Night, Sleepwalker, and company couldn't ask for a better captain.
Hopefully we can get some good cartoons out of this too. I haven't seen Superhero Squad, but everything I've seen since Evolution (which got real good before it was wished into the cornfield) has been pretty damn meh.

Bingo! Heroes for Hire would be an *AWESOME* and fairly easy show to do. Put some money into the pilot to show Luke and Danny's origins in flashback and then cut to present day where they wouldn't need a ton of expensive shots like Danny obtaining the Iron Fist in K'un L'un. Then you can add the Daughters of the Dragon (Misty Knight and Colleen Wing).
Tons of potential in that for a tv series in my opinion, just like the comic, that is unfortunately no longer being produced.

Daredevil could work if they focus the first season on modern day crime with Kingpin in the shadows. Besides Kingpin, Elektra and Bullseye, his rogues gallery is pretty thin and somewhat laughable. So, its probably better to focus on drug dealers, human traifficing and so on. Maybe use the show can be like Smallville. Where it introduces the rest of the Marvel universe, but you know without the hoodies. Luke Cage, Iron fist, Punisher and maybe even Spidey or some of his villains get some screen time.
Total wishful thinking, but I'd love to see some of the cosmic stuff get adapted to television. Movies would be great, but the cosmic stuff just lends itself to long-form storytelling, so I'd love to see like a 13 episode arc detailing Annihilation or something. Like I said, it'll never amount to more than wishful thinking, but still.

I never watched the show, but wasn't he involved during the seasons when it was (supposedly) good and successful? He was also responsible for parts of Smallville as well I believe. He's certainly not my favorite writer, but he seems to have a decent track record for what can work on the "small screen."

He was an adviser til the middle of season 3 where everything was being turned upside down for no reason. He was able to get Tim Sale to paint the paintings which were fairly awesome. He has been ok with Smallville, Geoff Johns has the distinction of being the one comic book writer who has been able to get the show to feel like a DCU project instead of Dawson Creek with powers or a bunch of hacks writing DC books. I think he will do an good job, but he needs supervision, his latest work hasn't been great ie Red Hulk.

Agreed. And I'll also concede the point on Lost Season 2 although I enjoyed it, but certainly not as much as other seasons. I just have to think that his track record as a former show runner will give him some insight as to what will and won't work on tv and will hopefully get us an actual show to nitpick apart ;-)

Quality of work aside, I still remember that Loeb was a really nice guy the first time I met him at San Diego. He was part of the Wagner clique in artist's alley along with Sale and a bunch of other people.
He seemed really tickled that I had him and Sale sign an issue of the Challengers mini, which he said was the first time those two had worked together.
I don't know if this comic is still going or not but last I was reading comics I really liked the X-Factor reboot with Jamie Madrox as a private investigator. That's another show that could be a procedural without too much superpower stuff (other than the multiplying power).
I was also a big fan of Exiles, but I think that would be a better animated series.

Yes, this book is still being published. They recently reverted to the numbering from the old series so they are in the 200's now. I dropped it at #200 so I'm not sure if they are still doing the private investigator schtick.

Keeping with the low-tech theme, how about something like Alias or The Pulse. The telling of superhero stories from the point of view of the Daily Bugle newsroom was an interesting idea.
I know you're a feminist and I think that's adorable, but this is grown-up time and I'm the man.

I think Sony/Columbia may own the rights to The Daily Bugle as part of the Spider-Man rights, crazy as that sounds.

That's simple enough to work around, just change the Bugle to Front Line. Although I wonder how much of the Spidey-verse Sony has the rights to, so maybe they couldn't use Ben Urich.
I'd like to see a Moon Knight show. Even if he was popular enough to warrant one, a movie wouldn't have enough time to flesh out the character. Plus, he's a street level hero so it would be fine to have him fighting gangs and that sort of crime. There's also the fact that any kind of MK movie would be compared to Nolan's Batman and there's no way MK comes out on top there.
Speaking of heroes fighting common criminals, even as a kid that was something that bugged me about the Flash tv show. Why would a superhero keep fighting regular bad guys? There's no suspense there because you know they never even have a chance of beating him.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure FOX owns Ben Urich as part of the Daredevil rights, as crazy as that sounds.
Wait, I forget, was The Daily Bugle the newspaper Urich wrote for in Daredevil? Because if it was then it might be fair game. It might have been the New York Post, though, or something like that.

THIS WEEK IN TV * Um, so I guess it's the State of the Union Address on Tuesday? Obviously this throws the television schedule out of order once again. On Tuesday, we do get new episodes of Homeland Security USA, a truncated Primetime: What Would You Do?...
