I was there live last night and the live crowd DID really crap on it...every time we heard that sound, there was booing...and moreso when Michael Cole popped over to the podium with his reading glasses.

You know who's really over? That Daniel Bryan chap. At least a half a dozen different times a chant started up for him...not sure how many were on TV though, most were during downtime between segments.

This show did not flow so well live...Superstars had a nice, longer tag match but the in-ring action was really short until the main event. After the Nexus beatdown, there was a really long dead period that deflated the crowd a bit. (and the women's match didn't help...no one cared about any of them except Maryse)

Sheamus was excellent and we actually saw more of him than anyone else. The post-show bonus match was Sheamus/Cena, which ended in a Nexus attack, til they were run off by most of the RAW roster and wound up with Cena and Orton posing for the crowd. Amazing how over both of them are...the crowd was a sea of orange shirts (and I didn't see one that was for the Flyers) and the crowd was going nuts for Orton to tag in during that "mega match" (even starting 3 different chants! "RKO!" "Ran-dy!" and "Ran-dy Or-ton!") Crazy that I saw him wrestle a dark match vs. Mr. Perfect in that very building years ago... (Yes, we called it the "Perfect Dark" match.) But I still just can't buy him as a face...

After the entrances for the main event, we got some mic work from Jericho to rile up the crowd, but he barely even had to say 2 sentences to piss people off.

When Nexus was in back with Josh Matthews, when Young was straightening out Josh's suitjacket, he should have grabbed his tie and straightened it out, to which would have led to Josh giving him the scared shitless look.
Also loved the crowd giving the WOOOOOOO'S to Arn when he said "Top Five Wrestlers" to Ricky and trying to not acknowledge them.

It crushed my old wrestling soul to see Arn Anderson praise Ricky Steamboat and then be the first legend pulled out of the ring and beat down. That never would have happended back in the day. Arn would have suckered Ricky and then beatdown everyone else. I need to go dig out my original War Games video.

Every time you hear the laptop twice in quick succession like that, it's because the Anonymous GM forgot to send an attachment, and the second e-mail is just the attachment and "My fault!", which Cole is enough of a pro not to read on the air.

The next victim of The Group Now Known As The Nexus, Or The Connection, Or The Network needs to be Jim Johnston. They could take him out so that their theme (or is it technically just Barrett's theme, since he won that contest?) would be the last piece of original WWE music ever produced. Then they could take out the music collection so that only they have theme music. This would lead to a desperate alliance of Cena, Jericho and R-Truth jamming together in a secret location to come up with new theme music for all of Raw, which they would then have to perform live for each entrance at the risk of being attacked by The Group Now Known As The Nexus, Or The Connection, Or The Network.

I can't believe nobody picked up on the most important bit of the night... As Rob Zombie came down to the ring, they mentioned that it had been exactly one year since the Guest Host gimmick started. Well, there has been one thing that has been consistent about the guest hosts that was missing last night.... no, not them sucking, at least one or two of the 51 guest hosts were decent... I haven't seen mention of it anywhere, so I'm going to call it right now. ROB ZOMBIE KILLED THE BELLA TWINS!

Nope, I saw Nikki Bella vs. Jillian Hall taped for Superstars.

I would have enjoyed a little more Zombie...I mean, it's further proof that the "guest host" idea is dead if all he did was announce the MITB PPV participants. And "Never Gonna Stop (The Red, Red Kroovy)" is better than Alter Bridge. Sorry, Edge.

Alter Bridge struck me as a face theme song while Zombie fit better with a heel especially the "You think you know me." after the Lita/Matt situation.

I tend to think that Cole is gonna turn out to be the GM. It would make the most sense out of any of the possibilities, especially considering they "fired" Daniel Bryan.

And Arn putting Triple H in a list of Top Five of all time is both sad and laughable.

But that was *before* Raw and everybody knows that the guest host almost never arrives until the show has started!

Also, to everyone speculating that the new NXT theme is actually Wade Barrett's theme music, I'm guessing not. Barrett clearly had a hand in the crafting of his music and insisted on it being just right, so I'm guessing he wouldn't have wanted his personal theme music starting out with the lyric "We are one." unless he's planning on stealing Matt Morgan's gimmick.

YES.

Remember when Ric Flair was the CEO of WCW but could never remember all the bullshit to book for each Nitro, so after every promo, Tony Schiavone would get an envelope from the CEO containing all the stuff he forgot to mention.

Also, Kid Romeo.

Oh no. They were like "Heyyyyy Rob Zombie, oh my gosh. I heard that Hellbilly Deluxe 2 was even hotter than Hellbilly Deluxe 1--" and then he cut up their faces so that they wouldn't look the same anymore. :(

Edge has never had a decent theme, aside from the first 5-10 seconds.

In fact, other than a very small handful, no one in WWE has a decent theme. All the "Yeah, bro, I'm a rockstar"-alt rock themes could easily be switched between wrestlers and I wouldn't know the difference.

But I'm dense sometimes.

Not that he would be in mine, but there is an argument to be made for Triple H. However, I think we can both damn sure agree that Triple H is NOT in Arn's Top 5.

- I was thinking the same thing last night about all the theme music starting to sound the same. I'm guessing a big problem is that all the music has to have lyrics so they can put it on a CD and try to make a few extra bucks on it, which is a shame because some of the best theme songs ever were all instrumentals.

I'm also not big on what's going on with hip hop and rap, but if most the MMA fighters and boxers are going to use it as theme music wouldn't it make sense that more Superstars would want to use it too?

- I was also pretty shocked that Sargent Slaughter wasn't one of the Legends in the ring. I was expecting him to be the 4th as I completely forgot about Hayes.

I only saw a little of the show.

Edge looks better with a thinner haircut, and he didn't seem to do the Ponytails of Anger before his spear attempt.

Randy Orton's popularity is so, so bizarre. I liked his moveset back in the short-lived Age of Orton, and I think he has the potential to be a legit top face. But being at this level with that stone-faced gimmick is just weird. I figured he'd become more gregarious in this PG age of the WWE. Work the crowd more, razz the heels with name-calling.
Then again, maybe I'm missing it as I flip channels.

The lengths the writers are going to to explain the logistics of the NXT attacks remind me of the hyper-continuity arguments among my comic-fan friends. The superstars aren't legends, so the NXT guys can go after them. OK. And the superstars can't defend the legends or they'll be suspended. OK. So why did no one help Cena in the first NXT attack? Why can't the WWE security guys protect the legends? The rules they create to cover the first set of questions create more questions to match the level of explanations. It's a feedback loop of logic and rationale. And it tends to get messy. Eventually, we gotta get a match out of one of these guys. I assume that starts after MITB.

A.) Because they already knew Cena was going to squash CM Punk so why would they sit around watching it on one of the two TVs they keep backstage?

B.) Because they already knew, thanks to Mark Henry, that Cena would never return the favor.

C.) Because they were all exhausted from having to work the extra hour and had already left for the evening.

D.) Because they all thought the attack was as awesome as most everyone else did and were too busy watching it on the two TVs to go help. (At least one superstar was heard to remark "Wait, there's wood underneath the canvas? No wonder it hurts so effing much!")

E.) Because CM Punk is so completely awesome that everyone just assumed that he would be able to handle the invasion on his own. (After all, Punk *did* get back into the ring to try and help Cena. Of course, Punk holds himself to a much higher moral standard than the rest of the WWE superstars, so naturally he was the only one to come to Cena's aid.)

F.) Because Cena was the champ, thus was a target for everyone, as he alluded to himself the next week when he brought up that nobody came to help him.

Why can't the WWE security guys protect the legends?

Because, as was already mentioned, security is generally comprised of active (indie) wrestlers and when an active wrestler appears on WWE television, they instantly become WWE Superstars. If the asshole producer had just cut to commercial, it would have allowed security to come out and save the legends without getting suspended.

Alternatively, security is comprised of egotistical assholes who believe themselves to be WWE Superstars.

Why not question why the divas didn't come out to save the legends? After all, they're Divas, not Superstars. Now, you might assume that the Divas' ability to stop Nexus would be thwarted by the PG rating but to that, I counter with Sixteen Candles. (Okay, technically Sixteen Candles came out a couple of months prior to the adoption of the PG-13 rating but we're talking loopholes here, anyway.)

The whole concept of each brand having their own separate MITB just ruins it for me; I liked MITB at Wrestlemania because any superstar who won the event could pop up on either show and take on the champion.

I was wondering why Barrett wasn't around until I read what happened to him and Drew McIntyre (hopefully everything can be resolved in a speedy manner, especially for Barrett).

Yeah, at the time it happened, it really seemed self-defeating. "Hey fans, we know that you're really into this angle, but we'd like to announce that we're not going to advance it at all this week, so you can probably just skip tonight's show." Of course, they went ahead and beat up all those legends anyway, so even then I misread what they were telling me. Still, if they can't bring Barrett back tout de suite, this really ends up looking more like they're just shaving off a member every two or three weeks until it's down to Skip Sheffield walking out with his bug eyes and...I dunno, jumping a cotton candy vendor maybe.
