I saw this online. Apparently, the director of "Fame" made this 8 minute "Trailer" to stir up interest in a reboot of Mortal Kombat. It features Michael Jai White (Jax), Jeri Ryan (Sonya Blade), Matt Mullins (Johnny Cage), Lateef Crowder (Baraka) and Ian Anthony Dale (Scorpion) with fight choreography by Larnell Stovall. It's already a trending topic on Twitter.

If somehow some studio picks this up, this could be a new "Guerilla" way of making movies.

Kevin Kelly: "Mr. Austin, would you like to comment on Wade Keller's Take that endorsing the XFL hurts your anti-authority character?"

Steve Austin: "Oh shit, he actually said that? I thought the boys in the back were ribbing me!"

Kelly: "No, he really said that. Did they tell you the part about you sitting in the stands, looking all skeptical?"

Austin: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah... oh man that was too much."

Sing this special song. It's just for you.
Saw it this morning. Very well made, and the guy who plays Scorpion is tops. Good job by White too.

I also like the director's use of the faded letters on the door to reveal the shortening of Jackson into Jax. Very swank film geek pandering.

Im sorry but this looks stupid. I am by no means a movie guy i am a gammer and i like things like continuity. This make no sense I mean why change the back stories? why make Scorpion the good guy what the hell happned to Liu Kang? where the hell is Kung Lou? No Out world? If this gets made it will be far worse then the other live action movie. At least the first one was and still is fun to sit through.

I'll agree with you there ... It still holds the (dubious) distinction of "best video game movie" IMO.

Of course, I would've been happier if Christopher Lambert and Trish Stratus were still rumored to be part of the cast

Keep in mind, this is the director's vision of what he wants it to be. There isn't even a guarantee that if this movie gets made, the same actors will be used. For all we know, the plot could be different and maybe Liu Kang WILL be involved heavily.

I kinda like the fact though that they want to make it realistic (well, as realistic as Mortal Kombat can be) and they are leaving "Out World" out of this.

1. Rayden picks Liu, Jax chooses Scorpion?
2. Why send earth's hero as the canary into the coal mine when you can send a zombie ninja?
3. Something else?

It's not like the first movie stuck super close to the plot. Scorpion working for Shang Tsung comes to mind.

And there's no way in hell this coming to fruition to be worse than Annihilation. None whatsoever.
