Agreed.
One thing that stood out for me is his boots. Other superheroes' shoes looking like dainty elf shoes always bothered me.
With most superhero costumes gaining darker hues when they translate to the big screen, it was a tough task to keep Cap's iconic colors AND make it look "cool" and believable. In that regard, it works.
Minor gripe is that someone often referred to as "winghead" doesn't have wings on his head. I wouldn't be surprised if they tweaked this design a lil' bit and added some painted wings on the side of the helmet/headpiece. For example: a set of three little faded stripes on each temple would work.

I won't be surprised if they tweak it, but the re-design probably won't come until the Avengers film.
As far as a first go-around, I like the costume. It's certainly better than the eyesore that was used in that OTHER Captain America movie.
It looks like a sleek body kevlar type outfit which fits well as a real world super-soldier outfit. The coloring and design is not bad at all. I agree with the winghead statements however. Add wings on the head or else this outfit will look like a bad imitation.
It definitely looks more like the Ultimates costume, which has the helmet-ish design (I'm not sure if that has the wings) I like it.
And yes, it's a target, especially considering its set in ww2 where he would stand out like crazy amongst the army outfits. But I'm sure Steve Rogers wants it that way. That means the bullets come for him, and not the soldiers he tries to protect.

You mean the costume that was entirely faithful to the comic? The plain white panel on his midsection really bothers me. If the reversed the color of the suspenders and the midsection panel, I'd be fine with it (the stripe under the star should always be red, it's been a rule since the '40s.)

Cap was always meant to be a symbol, so the bright colors are ok. I miss the wings, but I can see those being added later in the film or in Avengers. I don't mind the Ultimates feel to it since it fits with the realistic theme Marvel seems to be going with in their flicks. Aintcoolnews' comment is the worse thing to happen to movies. The fact they are refering to it as a condom suit is not helping. I guess Condom suit will be up there with "Nuke the fridge." and "Lucas raped my childhood." as their terrible contributations to society.

Well now... I like Weddick's DC backstory. Didn't see his basketball parter being the president, or that the woman Weddick visited was his mistress, but I did see Clemente getting the veep nomination.
