Bad in every way last month's show was good. Cursed by blood stoppages and a freak injury where Orton broke his forearm or tore his bicep or popped out his shoulder or something bad, abruptly ending one of the two most promising matches on the show. Rey/Punk and Cena/Batista were pretty good but not great. Batista was heaved to his doom and banished to the resting place of Muhammad Hassan where he has layed since 2005.

About the only positive from the show was McIntyre getting McBuried, so I hope they don't take that away with another letter. IIRC the PWrestling Torch said his support had taken a hit.

Funny how quickly things change: A few months ago, there was no room for advancement on the babyface side of RAW, with Cena, Helmsley, the end days of Michaels and the movement of Orton to a face position. Now, unless the injury to Orton seems less than reported, there is but Cena left and they either need to do a serious shuffling of the deck, which would mean a Jericho face turn, or the elevation of either R-Truth or Morrison.

1. Kofi pinned McIntyre to win the IC title. Drew called out Teddy Long to reverse the decision but he got laid out by Matt Hardy.

2. R-Truth pinned Ted DiBiase with the lie detector.

3. Rey pinned Punk and shaved his head with the help of Kane fighting off the SES. Match was halted for blood right when they did the big heat spot of the match of pitching Rey into the barber's chair.

4. Hart Dynasty retained against Y Came 2 J with a neat finish where Smith caught Miz when he did his corner clothesline and they gave him the Hart Attack.

5. Edge and Orton did an awkward, abrupt double countout when Orton broke his arm banging the mat for the RKO.

6. Swagger got DQ'd against Show for hitting him with the belt for two straight shit finishes.

7. Eve pinned Maryse.

8. Cena quitted Batista by threatening to FU him off a car. Batista did but Cena threw him anyway (JBL finish), sending him careening through the floor to his earthly demise. Moments early Batista tried to run over Cena with the prop car on the ramp.

Just this week, I was thinking to myself that Orton is going to hurt himself pounding on the mat one of these days.

Also, this is a perfect time for an angle where Punk gets a "WWF" tattoo on the top of his head. Blurring fixes everything!

For my money, the best I-Quit match I've ever seen (especially because of the finish) was between Chavo Guerrero and Rey Mysterio, in the match in which Rey was "injured". Chavo eventually hung Mysterio upside-down by his legs on a light fixture, and then started absolutely annihilating him with a steel chair. Finally, after the third or maybe fourth shot with the chair, the agonized Rey screamed, "I QUIT! I QUIT!"

I-Quit matches nowadays... meh. It's a foregone conclusion that the good guy's going to win, it seems. Especially if that good guy is Cena. I think Cena would be more interesting if every now and then he lost a match via submission, you know what I mean? Then he'd have to agonize over it for awhile.

Saw the video of Orton's injury on youtube. And we all know wrestling is fake but you have to give Orton and others this much credit... Even with a major injury, they stayed in character during the entire event. They acted like Edge wanted to attack Orton further while Orton sort of stared down Edge at the ramp. That's amazing. The best in the world and that's why we watch them.

You don't see that in any other sport or entertainment event.

I hope Orton gets well soon. IF it is a broken forearm, he might be still able to wrestle through it, it's been done that before.

Click Here (wwe.com) to see WWE.com's entry on the match. Seems as if it's a separated shoulder that Orton suffered.

Oh, and apparently CM Punk needed staples to close the wound he had during his match with Mysterio.

Hate to hear about Orton's injury. I dunno why Kane made the save for Rey instead of MVP. I guess we might get a Kane-Gallows feud? The Kane-Fake Kane feud was pretty damn great no? Haven't they done Cena just got run over by a car no he didn't numerous times already? If Orton misses time maybe Morrison can get a push. I was hoping Punk would have gone over Rey tonight. Surprised thar RTruth beat Dibiase.

I loved the undercard of the show.

1. Kofi/McIntyre was probably McIntyre's most entertaining match to date. That SOS at the end looked real good, too.

2. DiBiase/Truth featured the WWE debut of the Truth or Consequences, R-Truth's vertical-suplex stunner. That's the same move that was called an Osaka Street Cutter in the earliest SmackDown games. Sad thing is it didn't finish the match, but the freakin Lie Detector did.

3. The show went to hell after the Punk/Rey and Hart Dynasty/JeriMiz matches - thanks to Orton's injury, the horrible non-finish to Swagger/Show, a Divas match (though Maryse tries hard), and a lackluster Cena/Batista match that was far too predictable.

I guess we can quash the rumors of Batista's career not coming to an end. At least for now.

How come there's been a member of this board named "I Breastfeed John Madden" for six years and I've never noticed till now?

I know it's wrong to wish injury on someone, but I hate that bang on the mat Viper move Orton does. I find it amusing that he hurt himself doing something so dumb and unnecessary.

I am sure Randy learned how to wrestle with a cast on his arm from the master. Bummer to hear about the injury, as I was anxious to see what they were going to do with Orton, who seemed fresh for the first time in years.

This show sounds lousy.

So are they gonna toss in pounding on the mat in those don't try this at home spots? Reports are that Orton seperated his shoulder again.

- McIntyre lost because people are down on him because he has the reputation as a head case.

- Punk was supposed to beat Rey and the feud was supposed to keep going but Rey and WWE came to an agreement where he'd get a month off starting this week so it was decided that Rey had to win since he couldn't be in the SES if he was off TV.

So that would mean they have to change their planned fourway of Swagger, Show, Punk, and Rey. Punk could still be in but he just got set up with Kane. Kane and Show in the same fourway would be awful. Kofi pinned Swagger on TV so he would be the best candidate to replicate what Rey would've brought to the match.

Lazy booking. They could have easily done a month's worth of backstage sketches of Rey's "indoctrinization" into the SES and then have him come back in a month's time as a fully trained follower. ;-)

Yeah, but Randy also has hypermobile shoulders, which are thus more prone to injury, as noted in this interview.

I was at the show last night. It looked as if Batista was legitimately hurt after the FU through the stage. A ref went to check on him and threw up the X sign and there were a bunch of refs, agents, and meds down there. I don't think any of this was shown on screen, was it? And that's what makes me think it was legit. They were down in the hole working on him for a good 5-8 minutes after the show ended. Batista eventually made it up out of the stage on his own power, but was then helped backstage by two refs. Granted, it COULD have all been a part of the show for the live crowd, but it seemed pretty legit.

What surprised me was, behind Cena, the person who got the biggest reaction of the night was MVP in the dark match. That's probably because he was the first Face to come out, but he was hugely over. After that was Orton and then Rey.

The crowd was really hot all night long and were really in to the CM Punk/Rey match and the Cena/Batista match the most. The blood stoppage really deflated the crowd, but Punk brought us back in to it with his tantrum right after just beating the shit out of Rey. Orton injuring himself is not going to do any favors with his Face Turn. Everybody was talking about what an idiot he is for hurting himself by pounding the mat. All the work that's been done to build him up as a bad ass seems to have unraveled.

One more live note, there was the most adorable 3-4 year old little boy in front of me and about half way through the show his dad took him to "the bathroom". When he came back, he was decked out in a Cena t-shirt and the Cena headband/wristband set. I just made me smile that that little boy was probably having the best time of his life and was so happy to see his Superman live in person. Say what you want about Cena, but he has that affect on the kids. They fucking love that guy.

Overall, it was a ton of fun being at the show live. I'll be interested to check out the DVD when it comes out to see how it played out on TV. I can't remember the last time I went to a live WWE event and walked away disappointed.

I'm also going to the house show tomorrow in Albany. I'm not too familiar with NXT outside of these recaps, but everyone who watches says it's a great show. I figured for $15 bucks it was worth checking out.
