Am I the only person here that did not know there was a remake of TRUE GRIT coming out this Christmas? This fucking sucks.
It made me look and find out other stuff I wasn't aware of and found some other shit like a remake of EXCALIBUR.
Share the pain.

(edited by Cerebus on 5.5.10 1443) Forget it Josh... it's Cerebustown.
For some reason, I read that first title as BEVERY HILLS NINJA 2 ...
That would've been a weird choice.
"All RAW is these days is a cheap version of Saturday Night Live, so if you wanna tune in to watch the amazing star power of Al Sharpton and Nancy O'Dell, go ahead! Who's gonna host next week, Big Bird? Wow, that's must-see TV!" - John Morrison (10/16/09 Smackdown!)
The Potter sequels coming out only makes me cry with joy. And I hadn't heard about 3D. That could be great, or more likely Clash of the Titans-level bad.
Either way, I'm ready for those sequels.
"Put on your helmets, we'll be reaching speeds of 3!" "It was nice of you to give that dead woman another chance." "All right, look alive everybody...oh sorry Susan."- MST3K: Space Mutiny Click Here (myspace.com)
The Order of the Phoenix and The Half-Blood Prince were both shown in 3D, or at least select scenes were in 3D. I'm conjecturing that with the current 3D craze, that means both halves of The Deathly Hallows will be entirely in 3D.
Missing from this list is the announced-last night:
X-MEN: FIRST CLASS (June 3, 2011) Directed by Matthew Vaughn, produced by Bryan Singer, and starring... well, when they figure it out, they'll let us know. But mark your calendars... with an X!
To diffuse any umbrage over these movies, I'll point out the obvious that no one HAS to see any of these movies if the existence of such is so offensive to you.
For instance, I don't HAVE to see Piranha 3D. But I will, because I'm stupid, and I like homicidal CGI fish. Both.
Also, THE BRAZILIAN JOB: THE ITALIAN JOB II is a brilliant fucking title. "We have a sequel to The Italian Job set in Brazil, but we don't want people to be confused about it being a sequel to The Italian Job, because it's set in Brazil. We still want everyone who liked The Italian Job to come see The Brazilian Job. What to do, what to do? I know! We'll call it The Brazilan Job: The Italian Job II so no one can be confused!" I love Hollywood.

Coen Brothers, Matt Damon, Jeff Bridges, and Josh Brolin? It'll probably be awesome, all your whining aside.
Much lower expectations for the Red Dawn remake, however.
(edited by JayJayDean on 5.5.10 1132) Holy fuck shit motherfucker shit. Read comics. Fuck shit shit fuck shit I sold out when I did my job. Fuck fuck fuck shit fuck. Sorry had to do it....

Revenge of the Sith = one thumb up from me. Fuck shit. I want to tittie fuck your ass. -- The Guinness. to Cerebus
Superman: Man of Steel, Avengers, Star Trek 2 and Sherlock Holmes 2 are not on the list. Also, are we considering Thor and Cap as sequels to the Marvel Universe or not?
Well, you can just knock me over with a fucking feather right now ...

I love that Brazilian Job is a sequel to a remake. And while the True Grit remake has the pedigree to be good, it's a genuine example of an utterly unnecessary remake. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Don't remake classic films. If you want to remake something, remake something that wasn't actually very good the first time, but had a good idea. Again, True Grit probably won't be bad, but it will be, by definition, redundant.
That Straw Dogs remake, though, that's going to be a fucking abomination.

In the interest of fairness, from what I've read the Coens plan isn't so much to remake the John Wayne movie as it is to actually film the novel it was based on. I don't know if that qualifies it as redundant; a redundant remake to me is something like Gus Van Sant's version of Psycho.
Originally posted by http://uk.movies.ign.com/articles/103/1039283p1.htmlThe 1969 original was loosely based on the novel by Charles Portis and revolved around a young girl hiring Cogburn to track down the man who killed her father.
According to Ethan, this new version will be much closer to the source material. "It's partly a question of point-of-view," the writer-director explained. "The book is entirely in the voice of the 14-year-old girl. That sort of tips the feeling of it over a certain way.
"I think it's much funnier than the movie was so I think, unfortunately, they lost a lot of humour in both the situations and in her voice. It also ends differently than the movie did. You see the main character -- the little girl -- 25 years later when she's an adult."
He continued: "Another way in which it's a little bit different from the movie -- and maybe this is just because of the time the movie was made -- is that it's a lot tougher and more violent than the movie reflects. Which is part of what's interesting about it."
Joel then added, "I don't actually remember the movie too well, but I do remember it as being much more of a standard western, and the book is just an oddity. It's a very odd book."
The sequel to The Italian Job was rumoured for years - I'm glad they're finally getting it done. As a fan of the original (and the remake) I'm excited for this.
Also to add to this list:
Hairspray 2 and Mamma Mia 2, though release dates for both aren't set yet.

Well, THAT doesn't sound too bad (until I saw the cast, with Shia LaBeouf)...
I did an IMDB search on "sequel" and "remake", and can add the following to the list:

Is anybody watching this show? Donal Logue is hilarious, as is just about every cast member. Gist of the show is a janitor who has dreams of being rich, gets a bunch of buddies together to form a group called the Knights of Prosperity.
