I think San Jose's in for a tough go of it despite winning game 1 last night. They had a good hot start and it's possible that Detroit was tired/out of sync, but once they got rolling, they looked like the always-tough-to-play Red Wings. Very exciting finish.

Looking forward to Penguins and Canadiens tonight. Obviously the question will be if Halak can maintain his stellar form.

Detroit will sweep the next four games. Sharks shoulda won that game about 8-2. And good job Versus on calling the Shark Tank the loudest arena where for half the game I was thinking how it seemed like a church gathering. Did Versus' mics just have an off night or something? Seemed like a preseason game with how bright and quiet everything was.

I do like how Wings fans are already blaming the officials. Yep, the NHL clearly wouldn't want the DETROIT RED WINGS to win the series. Give me a break. Refs gave up those 3 goals in 1 minute, heard that on Sportscenter.

I'm still surprised that so many people think this series is a forgone conclusion, for the Red Wings. The Sharks are nto being given a chance at all. I realize that the Sharks are known for thier playoff chokes but series, they were the best team int eh West in the regular season and are being treated like HUGE underdogs in this series.

Agree totally with Loosie.

This is going to be a long series. The Sharks are a talented team and won last night without their Captain in the lineup. The second line of Pavelski, Seteguchi and Clowe are carrying the load right now and if Heatley, Marleau and Thornton can do more, like last night they will be tough to beat, even for the almighty Red Wings.

Loving all of these series. Great time of year to be a hockey fan.

That's the way things work. They are underdogs because they deserve to be underdogs against the team thats won the conference the last two years. Winning one game won't change that, look at 2007. Also, Sharks have been the best team in the West for the last 10 years it seems and that hasn't mattered. And the best team in the East that's becoming known for choking just lost.

Not saying the Sharks are out of it, just saying it's completely natural that the Sharks would be underdogs. If they were called the Blackhawks they'd be favored.

Hmm ok, I'm just not going to leave if I'm wrong, and you're not going to relax the rules if I'm right. So not sure what you'd like to wager!

It was a great character win by the Sharks tonight. Fantastic to see.

And how about those Habs! Halak back on his game today. It's going to be crazy in the Bell Centre on Tuesday.

Oh and that was such a bogus call on the Heatly goalie interfernce near the end of the game.

Also the Habs found the way to beat the Pens. Frustrate Crosby.

Actually you can't name the terms of the wager after you already won. But that's ok. I have no hockey credibility to begin with!

Detroit played dreadfully. How can a team that's made the SCF two years in a row play completely undisciplined like that? The series isn't quite out of reach yet, I think Detroit would have to win the next 2 at home though.

Are you sure it wasn't "be super-opportunistic while getting outshot 2:1"? The only thing missing from the Mon/Was games was the Caps' hilarious defensive breakdowns.

Horrible loss for the Wings. Defense sucked (never seen the Wings get outshot so often as in these playoffs), Wings blew on the faceoff, took undisciplined penalties and didn't look nearly as aggressive on loose pucks. Heatley penalty was clearly a make-up call, though I'd like to congratulate the Sharks for embellishing a lot of those calls. (And why was Seteguchi playing? I thought he was killed in game 1. Oh, right.)

Anyways, I don't expect much to change in games 3 & 4 unless the Wings start hustling more on D and winning face-offs.

Also Cammalleri channeling his inner soccer star on the game-winning goal.

I don't want to post, as I might be tempting fate. I will say here in Ottawa there's a lot of bandwagon jumpers right about now, which as a life-long Habs fan I find annoying.

Looking like a great series though....and hopefully it is without tempting fate that I say I think we will soon see that it might not have just have been a case of Washington choking.

In Halak we trust.

Bah.. I bleed Blue and White and have not jumped on the Habs band wagon. My wife always bugs that I don't cheer for a Canadian team when the Leafs are out. I just can't bring myself to cheer for Ottawa or Montreal. I will support Vancouver. But I also usually go for teams with the most Canadians or teams that have not won the cup for a while or at all. With the exception of Chicago. I need them to not win until after Toronto so they can Chicago can maintain the longest cup drought.

I guess, technically speaking, that there is still a possibility this could happen.

DAMN. I was a big-time mark for Beezer, I actually still have a t-shirt of him, and it ain't easy to find t-shirts of hockey players in America beyond the big stars.
