Hello folks! Just another spring Tuesday and just another 236 new DVDs and 30 new Blu-rays following. You know how it goes!
PICK OF THE WEEK
Saturday Morning Cartoons: 1980s, Vol. 1 (The W at Amazon) Single episodes of - get ready - The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley, Chuck Norris: Karate Kommandos, Mr. T, Dragon's Lair, Galtar and the Golden Lance, Thundarr the Barbarian, The Kwicky Koala Show, The Flintstone Kids, The Biskitts, Monchhichis and...I'm not sure what the 11th show is, but I'm sure you've already decided by now. (Aha, found it on back of the box - it's Goldie Gold & Action Jack - I don't know what that is, either) It's funny that they feel they have to include this disclaimer: "Saturday Morning Cartoons - The 1980s is intended for the Adult Collector and Is Not Suitable for Children." Really? So it was OK for kids in the 1980s, but kids in the 2010s would have their fragile little minds warped - check that, BLOWN - by Chuck Norris' Karate Kommandos? (Well....PROBABLY.)

One quick followup - one of the perils of putting these out is that people will Google their film which and end up here, finding it buried deep within "AND THE REST," and THEN tell me about it:
From: Corey Surge To: chris@kzim.com Date: Fri, 14 May 2010 00:05:15 -0400 Subject: The Triumph of Dingus McGraw: Village Idiot
Hi Chris, in your recent wrap-up of upcoming DVD releases you listed a feature I directed called "The Triumph of Dingus McGraw: Village Idiot". Your tag line was, "The real triumph, of course, is that a DVD such as this even gets released" Haha, you got me there. Definitely liked that line.
So I take it you've seen the movie. What did you think? Any parts you liked?
Wishing you continued success on your web site. Letting people know about what movies are out there, just waiting to entertain them, is a great public service - especially when it comes to little independent films like Dingus.
Of course, I HAVEN'T seen the film - I build my comments based on quick perusals of the IMDb cast list, reviews if they're there (they weren't), and the movie's web site and/or distribution company - in this case, Indican. But mostly from the cover of the DVD. THAT'S my secret. Now you know.
I have to respect anyone who's directed more films than I have (zero) who not only takes time to write me, but also is a good sport about it.
With that in mind, here's ANOTHER plug for "Dingus McGraw: Village Idiot," a film which is surely...made in Canada (yet filmed in Kentucky).
Oh! It DOES have a website, so I can plug THAT, too! Head over to www.dingusmcgraw.com to learn more...IF YOU DARE. There are also some MySpace/Facebook/Twitter links there. OR, you can visit Corey's site linked above.
Oh, and yes, you could also buy a copy (The W at Amazon).
