If this whole thing was done with more subtlety and less of a heavy hand, then I'd be just fine with it. I just can't get behind an angle that feels just as dirty to me as the Nation of Domination did back in the day. "Cheer/boo me for my race, religion, or sexuality" shouldn't be the focus of ANY wrestling angle.

Hopefully I haven't ruffled too many feathers here, but I just needed to get that off my chest. I don't damn anyone for disagreeing, I just feel strongly about it.

This whole thing is Orlando Jordan's idea. Back in his WWE days he came to them with the idea of the bisexual character. They agreed but then decided to release him so it never happened. It obviously is happening in TNA.

Highlight of the show: Lethal mentioning Brutus Beefcake as one of the washed up oldtimers he wanted to book in a match. Hopefully that will end the speculation/worry that Hogan would try to bring Beefcake in.

I like Lethal a lot, but the Macho Man thing has run its course. At this point, he needs to be himself, and maybe at most bust out the impression once in a while. Presenting him as a loon who not only thinks he's Savage but thinks it's 1986 is not going to help him become credible. Although is it's leading to him and Abyss forming The Pseudopowers, there might be some good in it. B^)

The Pope is just excellent on the mic. Other than his voice sounding oddly similar to Tracy Morgan's he really cuts one of the best promos in wrestling right now. Hopefully, he isn't lost in the shuffle in a month, because he could be great in TNA.

Nash looked baked out of his mind to start off the show which is amazing considering all the guys he shared the ring with.

Daffney's waist tatoos are pretty sweet.

That boy is of age now. Although you can't tell from the pic. Screaming for attention from GLAAD seems to be counter-productive, but I'm sure Russo will use good tatse

Heh. Outsports seemed excited about it at first, but somewhat less so after it actually aired.

I can see how you could make something good out of it (and I think Orlando's pretty ballsy for making a move which could end his career) but I think there's too much going against it. Pro wrestling in general is awful at dealing with sexuality of any stripe, and even if they did handle it brilliantly, the crowd is going to turn every one of OJ's segments into a mob-fueled hate-fest.

And so yeah. My prediction: A bold experiment doomed to failure, undercut by the creative team and rendered ultimately unbearable by the crowd.

If ever there was a reason to move the show back for an hour, it's the revelation of that abysmal rating. At this point, ANYTHING will be an improvement and an 8 pm starting time can only help them. Of course, staying on Thursdays to begin with would have helped a lot more, but I digress.

Holy crap, it's a Samoa Joe sighting! He IS alive! Of course, with the angle that appears to be looming, maybe he should have stayed off the air.

I'm REALLY not interested in seeing Orlando Jordan explore his bi-curiosity. Any chance this angle can get a quick mercy killing?

I realize that Nash was just trying to draw heat, but when he talks about RVD and Jeff Hardy not being at his level, he just ends up looking delusional. I couldn't tell if the actual 6-man match was short due to time constraints or due to Hall and Nash's physical constraints.

After about two months of TNA on Monday nights, they've introduced us to Evad Sullivan 2.0, Jeff Jarrett playing the role of 1999 Ric Flair, The nWo Band partying like it's 1997, AJ Styles putting on a poor Ric Flair imitation instead of coming up with his own compelling character, Samoa Joe dropping off the face of the planet and re-emerging in a cardboard box, Beer Money's inexplicable heel turn, Sting's even more inexplicable heel turn, Hernandez's aborted push, Daniels's aborted airtime, and Bubba the Freakin' Love Sponge. About the only thing these clowns have gotten right is Pope Dinero, who's going to be a mega star within the next year. I was a TNA watcher since Day 1 and it's sad to see them flush a growing product down the toilet in the name of sparking a quick rating. It used to be fun to watch TNA on Thursdays. On Mondays, they're far down my TiVo list and I'm heavily considering dumping them altogether unless a drastic improvement is made. Maybe if they showcase RVD in something other than a 3-minute special, my interest can be piqued again.

A little perspective, fellows. The RAW after WrestleMania only comes once a year.

They really should ALWAYS start at 8/7 if they insist on airing on Mondays. It's unfortunate that they waited until this coming Monday to try this move though, because they have additional competition from an extra hour of "24" airing at 8/7, not to mention ROH on HDNet returning from a two week break (HDNet had been airing hoops) and THEY'RE following a big "iPPV" happening over the weekend. Still, Meltzer will call it an "unopposed hour," so.

It's hard to take ROH as real competition when they're on a network so tiny that they don't bother to subscribe to the ratings services (or release the number of homes who actually get their channel.)

TNA's taunted the time change as a "special start time", not a move. Maybe that'll change, but it looks now that they'll be back in the old spot in two weeks.

Speaking of hoops, there's some basketball game on, too.

EDIT: yeah, nevermind - you're talking about the unopposed hour.

The statement really is not any less valid if you plug in the 0.8 rating they got last week against a Raw that only drew a 3.2 rating.

Regardless though of whether 0.6 or 0.8 or even 1.0 is their ratings equilibrium, the point is they are paying a LOT more money for at best slightly lower and at worst ratings 50% lower than what they were doing last year. There is no way to look at what has happened so far as anything but an absolute disaster. From the high-water mark of Hogan's arrival on 1/4 with its record 1.88 quarter hour for Hogan's arrival to last Monday night they have succeeded in apparently losing the entire audience that sampled their 1/4 show, but they seemingly have lost a chunk of their original fans as well or at least those fans are still watching on Thursday nights during the replays.

Question now is, and considering who is in charge this seems like an important one, do they hotshot the few possible money angles/matches they have available to them to try and get the ratings up to that 1.0 mark of a few weeks ago? Perhaps some sort of Foley/Hogan match (one I don't think has ever happened before)? One more Sting/Flair match?

The other question becomes can this current regime really move back to Thursday if this continues? With all the big talk from them in the last few months, would they be able to keep any credibility if they were to announce they were turning tail and running back to Thursday nights? Or would a move to Thursday also have to be the end of the Hogan/Bischoff experiment?

But there's always going to be some excuse. Either they can hack it or they can't, and if they can, they should be able to do so regardless of what WWE decides to do on any given night. They can't have their ratings dependent on what McMahon decides to do.

I totally agree with the earlier start time. TNA seems like it's less affected by everything but Raw -- they hold (well, held) their ratings very well when going up against other TV shows, sports events, and holidays.

-----

In other exciting news, TNA is going with the simplified spelling of "Tessmacher" for Bischoff's useless new assistant. You can pull yourself off the tenterhooks now! Here's a pic.

As Hunter himself once said : "I'm Bi- a lot of things, but lingual isn't one of them." Considering he was once with Chyna, and the nature of his relationship with Shawn, there's a LOT of reading between the lines you could do, if you REALLY wanted to.

Mind you, they never actually followed up on that, but still, I don't know if HHH is the best example, considering.

Isn't there going to be a battle royale for the #1 contendership or something? I'm going to the show tonight. And from the looks of these matches, it looks like I'm gonna have to get drunk to enjoy it.
