Recap for WWE SmackDown 3.26.10, taped from San Jose, CA.

- We open with a brief recap from last week, and then it's onto our mega-opener:

10-Man Tag: SmackDown vs. Raw MITB: Drew McIntyre, Kane, Matt Hardy, Shelton Benjamin, and Dolph Ziggler over Christian, Evan Bourne, MVP, Kofi Kingston, and Jack Swagger via Future Shock (McIntyre pinned Christian) in 18 minutes. While 18 minutes is good for the wrestling counter, this match was really gutted by the two commercials, and the crowd didn't seem to particularly care except for the finish. I'm a sucker for that multi-man signature-moves-galore finish, though. Postmatch, Drew tries to grab a ladder and have his moment in the sun, like Dolph last week, but he's not Dolph, and everyone comes back this time, and that ends badly for Drew.

- And now we get video-package overload! Lawler and Cole are at the axxess thing, and they go over every match and feud, and each is accompanied by a video. I get that fact that this is the last show before Wrestlemania, but 1 match in 45 minutes is pushing it.

Vickie Guerrero v Beth Phoenix is supposed to happen but Vickie has other ideas, so it becomes 5-on-1 Handicap Match: Vickie Guerrero, Alicia Fox, Michelle McCool, Maryse, and Layla over Beth Phoenix (Vickie pinned Beth) via The Numbers Game(tm) in 2 minutes. Match was shit, as could be expected. Beth is getting some nice pops. Postmatch, the heel divas try to hold Beth down for a Frog Splash, but the face divas make the save. That results in Beth making a comeback and pantsing Vickie, revealing granny panties that have 'Excuse Me' written in glitter across them. I could've done without that.

- Chris Jericho is out to talk about his match at Wrestlemania. He says he's going to retain at WM, because despite Edge's love for the people, his passion, his tenacity, his moves, he's missing one thing. He says Edge does not have the DNA to beat him. Really? DNA? He goes on about his superior DNA and how he's going to use Edge's weak DNA against him and end his career at WM. Jericho promises to destroy Edge's Achilles tendon, and when Edge's career is over, he can blame his faulty DNA. Edge has had enough of the science lesson, so he comes out to trade some blows. Edge gains the upper hand, but Jericho bails before being SPEARed. Edge poses with the belt. Not the best of Chris Jericho's promos.

- Back to Phoenix we go for the axxess stuff. Cole and King go over the main events, and have videos for all of them as well. For the record, Cole picks Michaels to win at WM and King picks Taker. Both of their reasonings are quite logical. Can't wait for that match.

- John Morrison is out for his match, but first some words! He introduces Truth and they insult Miz and Show for a bit and promise to win at Wrestlemania. Don't think anyone bought that - certainly not in the Predictions thread. Miz and Show finally come out, and Show looks less than amused.

The Big Show over John Morrison via DQ in 3 minutes. The finish came when Morrison stopped Miz from interfering and then attacked Show for the DQ. Truth and Morrison laid out the champs to end the show.

Wrestling Counter: 23 minutes.

- You can't call this a wrestling show; it was just a hype show. It was ok for what it was, but it was grating with its incessant video packages and axxess and what have you. The MITB match was ok, and it all went downhill from there. Not enjoyable.

Something about R-Truth just bugs me.

Even when he was K-Kwik. Maybe it's the idiotic names, but I just do not like the guy. Morrison's too good for him.

Honestly, I didn't like either of them. This was the first time in a couple months that I've watched Smackdown, and they both just seemed embarassing. I think Morrison's voice just grates on me, because I've heard such positive things about him here. But I dunno, neither of them really impressed me. They seemed even more grade school than DX.

I don't mind R-Truth, he's solid enough. I just don't buy the Lie Detector as a finisher. I don't think Morrison's too good for him, though. Morrison is just too awkward as a face.

Was that toilet paper on Edge's shirt? That was weird. I thought it was part of his shirt at first but then he ripped it off at the end.

I like R-Truth. He has the same charisma as Kofi where he looks like he loves to be doing what he's doing. I just don't like the singing - its the most annoying entrance out of anyone.

He was busy using the facilities when he heard Jericho talking trash about him? Maybe that explains why Chris got so far into his Edge-bashing before he interfered ...

I wonder how the live crowd felt about watching half a show? I'm assuming there were a lot of dark matches to fill in the night and make 'em feel like they got their money's worth ...

"All RAW is these days is a cheap version of Saturday Night Live, so if you wanna tune in to watch the amazing star power of Al Sharpton and Nancy O'Dell, go ahead! Who's gonna host next week, Big Bird? Wow, that's must-see TV!" - John Morrison (10/16/09 Smackdown!)

And I believe NXT and Superstars as well, so they got plenty o' matches for their money.

Yep. Probably the only ones who got short-changed were the TV viewers of Smackdown. I understand the function of a go-home show, but we've come to expect much more from SmackDown, hence the disappointment.

Thing is, he can't look any "stronger". He's gone over pretty much all of the RAW roster to the point of the crowd not biting on the majority of the near-falls in their match.
