This is what makes the match flip-flopped; Undertaker should go 18-0 but Taker has been hurting for awhile which would make sense for him to lose and take some time off unless they story-line it somewhere after WM where Undertaker disappears.

People who always have a career-ending match somehow wind up coming back in the picture shortly after based on some stipulation or something else along the lines.

I am trying to predict based on not just on the storyline but who needs the time off a little more now.

HBK has been talking permanent retirement after WM. So he WILL be losing.

What if HHH comes in, Pedegrees Undertaker, but Michaels refuses to win that way.. After arguing with Hunter, Shawn turns around right into a tombstone and loses. Shawn blames HHH for the loss and HHH says that its Shawns own fault, setting up their feud without having to turn one heel permanently. 2 other things.. a quick way for Shawn to get reinstated is for him to come in and superkick Vince durning the Hart-Mcmahon match, setting up the Sharpshooter. Vince is so furious that Shawn cost him the match that he reinstates Michaels so that he can punish him. Also, anyone think that this retirement stip is a dig at Flair for dishonoring (so to speak) the retirement stip from the Flair-Shawn match?

I will say if Shawn is really looking to retire, this is one of the best ways he can do it, followed by a "leave the memories alone" tribute the following night on RAW. Even Bret is around to possibly send him off.

I see people saying Taker should lose so he can take some time off after Wrestlemania.

Doesn't he normally take a ton of time off after Wrestlemania?

I will say this, it was a genius move of WWE to book this match again. Some might argue that doing it again makes the original less special, but look at it this way --- against any other opponent, even Cena, UT's WM match would be a foregone conclusion. This is pretty much the only scenario they could've come up with to create doubt as to the outcome of the match, and beyond just creating doubt, I actually think Michaels is going to win. This is the first I've ever had a even a smidgen of doubt 'Taker would lose at Mania since they started acknowledging the Streak as a thing. Maybe the only other minor doubt I had was against Orton at WM21, but even then, I was pretty sure they weren't THAT confident in Orton.

With how much buzz is always surrounding Undertaker's streak and his matches at Wrestlemania, they'd be dumb to have him lose to HBK. They can milk this a few more years, it's an instantly built-in angle for Wrestlemania, and maybe next year they can explore the whole thing with Undertaker as a de facto heel just to keep things fresh. A little while from now, wait for a rising star and give HIM that win. It just makes business sense. Why kill their best Wrestlemania "sure thing" all in the name of pleasing fans of a near-retirement star who doesn't benefit at all, when they can use it down the line to make or solidify a new star? HBK adding this win to his resume will not make them any money.

As for Triple H... I agree that he very badly needs a heel turn, but also agree with some that this is not the place to do it. I'd wait until Raw. It makes HHH's match with Sheamus look even more like filler than it already does, and overbooks a match that would be more than fine on its own. If HBK is expected to be back at some point, have HHH turn on him at his farewell thing. If not, let HBK have his moment and have HHH throw down on Undertaker to gain vengeance.

Our Fearless Liter just isn't big on fantasy booking on anyone's part. It's certainly a different suggestion than what I've seen elsewhere.

I think if ANYONE beats the Undertaker now, the fans will sour on them fast. If McMahon does decide to have a rookie end the streak, it doesn't matter how much potential talent the person may have, I can't see them getting anything but pure hate from the fans at the show.

It's not that people wonder "Who can end the streak?" as much as it is that they just don't want the streak to end in the first place. The past few years on this board alone, the majority of the posts about HBK, Orton, etc facing Taker at WM have been "They had better not give _____ the win this year!"

The streak is something special that McMahon created probably without even meaning to in the beginning. Ending it for any reason just doesn't seem right now.

Is it too late for a Undertaker v. HBK v. HHH v. Sheamus Fatal Four Way? I think you know where I'm going with this...

In all seriousness though, the only way I can see the powers that be letting The Streak come to an end is if the man pinning the Undertaker's shoulders carries the last name McMahon. And if this was about five years ago, I wouldn't be surprised to see just that happening.

Huh. Interesting point. But it raises the question of how we'd react if it were someone who we think deserves and is in need of a push. I'm not sure.

I can say for myself that my hope is that the streak will end at Taker's last Mania, to a heel who is on the way to serious main event status. If Taker were retiring this year, I'd probably say CM Punk would be the best choice; he's already a main eventer, but that could really establish him as a major star.

But, again, they should wait until Taker is retiring.

I'm sorry, but according to previous threads about the efficacy of the Internet and/or Internet Wrestling Community (or IWC), we decided the IWC made up somewhere around 0.0001% of the fan-base/audience.

Thus, their opinions, predictions and smart-mark jeers were entirely negligible to pro wrestling, as well as WWE and its operations.

I was kidding? But I agree ... which is why it's weird when WWE has changed something because Too Many People Guessed It, such as Christian being Jeff Hardy's assassin, or the finish of the WM24 match between Cena-HHH-Orton, or Batista and Jeff Hardy winning world title matches right before they were going to have surgery and leave the company, respectively.

They brought ECW and Matt Hardy back just because the internet got behind both big time. I'd hardly say 0.0001% is a fair number. Plus Christian was getting a TON of chants at Rumble 09, I think thats why everyone was so disappointed the next day.

And if a new heel beats Taker at WM and the fans hate him for it, what's the problem?

The problem is there's a HUGE difference between wrestling fans saying "we hate you and hope [insert face's name here] comes out here and puts his foot in your ass!" and wrestling fans saying "You're an asshole for ending the streak and we hate you!" One is the type of heat that sells tickets, the other is the type of heat that will cost them fans.

Vince said at a stockholder's meeting once that ending the streak would hurt more than it would help. And as much as no one likes to hear these next 4 words:

VINCE MCMAHON IS RIGHT.

Well, there's no guarantee it would cost them any fans. I can't think too many people will stop being Undertaker fans because he's 20-1 at Wrestlemania now.

Yay! A new way for Chris Jericho to lose to Triple H. Should be a great match though. Jericho has been awesome, Matt has really good matches weekly and Triple is pretty great despite the backstage stuff.
