He's a decent WR, And gives Stafford a decent veteran to go along with all the other first round WRS they have.

In fact, he showed up on Vanden Bosch's front porch at 12:01am this morning. That would be quite a coup, especially if the Lions draft Suh or McCoy for another spot on the d-line.

I'm afraid I've got to disagree. Defensive ends over 30 with declining sack totals should be a great big red flag at the best of times, and it's not like the Lions are in "let's win now" mode.

I guess I can see the point if they're going to draft along the D-line and use Vanden Bosch to help bring the young guy(s) along, but that's still a healthy heap of money to be throwing at him.

On Burlseon, an upgrade at RB would help Stafford far more IMO, but I was amazed to see he managed to put up 800 yards in Seattle last year so maybe he'll prove me wrong.

Well, he was injured for a bit of 2008 and they changed coordinators from...oh wait, look at that... Jim Schwartz in 2009, so maybe being reunited will give him a jolt. Besides, it's not like Lions had anything at DE which could actually be considered NFL-level talent.

Then you're probably gonna be disappointed to see the money (and draft picks) they throw at almost-30 Corey Williams to bring him over from Cleveland.

The only way this Vanden Bosch things works out is if this frees up the Lions to take Okung #2 overall. He allegedly went all beast mode at the combine and would actually help Stafford way more than any receiver will because Jeff Backus stinks on ice.

So while Kyle Vanden Bosch is done as a starter, he's still enough of a "name guy" that they aren't handcuffed to either top tier DT.

D+ deal on paper
B- deal in reality

(And as a postscript, because he really doesn't deserve more than that, Nate Burleson sucks and is incredibly lazy. Good luck Detroit. You would've been better off sticking with Bryant Johnson.)

I'd flip Northwestern and Penn State this year on the scale of difficulty. Could that fake field goal against ND really have altered the universe that significantly that Sparty isn't a bunch of choking dogs?
