Well, things are certainly getting interesting in the new Monday Night Wars.
In an interview that Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Hart did today with The Jim Kerr Rock & Roll Morning show, Hogan was talking about Impact's move to Monday nights.
After talking about young talent that TNA had signed and mentioning Jeff Hardy as being one of them, he said that he heard last night about a major name signing with the company that he hadn't even told Jimmy about. He then did Rob Van Dam's signature thumb pointing gesture and Hart was very excited. ----------------------------------------------------
Seriously, RVD? Well, ok, but unless they have it on good authority that Hardy is going to be cleared, would you go around braggin up that you signed him?
Also, nothing against either of these guys performance-wise, but how many more signings do they get before the TNA originals realize there's no more TV time left for them?

You missed Jeff Hardy in 2007-2009 when he was one of the best wrestlers in the country.

They still need something big for March 8th since they already did a bunch of debuts and surprises on January 4. Including Jeff's, I guess.
This is cool news, and I was thinking the other day that they should really go after RVD before they go live next week. He was one of the few big names out there that TNA could realistically sign that could make a big impact. Other than maybe Goldberg?
Jeff does has a dark cloud over him right now. However, I usually assume most celebrities will avoid jail time in this country, outside of murdering someone. Sometimes, not even then.

RVD probably won't pop the rating like people think. AJ vs. RVD has the makings of an awesome feud. My hope is the new guys work with the originals instead more cast-offs. They also need to do some JOBS once and a while. I guess Ms. Brooks got her release today. If you are a TNA original your days are numbered anyway. Hogan is all about acquiring WWE cast-offs and keeping a few TNA pieces like AJ, Abyss, Joe, Morgan and some of the tag teams. I do think if they were smart a Knockout/X-Division show is what is needed.

since the TNA guys were getting 1.1 ratings, it's not the worst business strategy in the world. Heaven forbid ex-WWE guys get new jobs too. This line of thinking never ceases to amaze me.
I have no problem TNA signing caliber wrestlers like RVD and Jeff or a great promo guy in Flair. I have a problem getting guys like OJ, Sean Morley and the Nasty Boys then have your top guys job to them. Anderson is a wait and see. He is getting great heat now, but is it X-Poc heat? Plus, he is working with Kurt and he will make Anderson look like a million bucks.
WCW didn't get cast-offs they got free agents. There is a giant difference. WWF wanted Hall and Nash, they just couldn't afford them. WWF didn't want OJ, Nasty Boys or others, so they fired their asses and TNA picked them up off the street. RVD, Hogan, Jeff and Flair are free agents. TNA's bid to them was more money Vince was going to give them and a lighter schedule. Hell, I firmly believe Flair will be gone before the end of the year and be back to induct some Horsemen for the Hall of Fame next year. As for Rock. We will see if he comes back just to lay down to Cena who Batista verbally raped on Monday then its not going to be huge disappointment. After watching the Bret storyline, I have little faith in returning legends and pro-longed story arcs.
I like both additions and even though people are tired of the ex-WWE guys I think Helms/Burchill/Haas could all be valuable parts of the roster too.
Obviously the roster is getting too big and people have to go but who would be on the chopping block? I think it would be possible to do cuts without losing someone major. Creed, Kiyoshi, Sharkboy, Dr. Stevie, Raven, So Cal Val, Generation Me and Red all seem like guys without direction that aren't big losses. There is still some hope that Hall/Xpac and Nastys are only temporary. Morley hasn't been seen in a while either. Get rid of any of these guys and replace them with RVD/Hardy and I think the roster looks pretty good. There will always be people with jobs that I won't understand (Von Erich, Terry, Jesse Neal) but the rest looks pretty good.
Cutting Daniels, MCMG, Lethal or Homicide wouldn't make me very happy but if they aren't going to be used anyway then why not? I want them all to have work and everything, but this isn't the WWE, does TNA pay that much more than they can get on the indies?
Wow, there are still people that think the Rock is coming back to the WWE? Haha.
I don't know anything about Rock visiting the WWE again, but if he does, and USA sells it by airing any of his family movies, the curious casual viewers might, um, spike the ratings.
So, yes. If, might, may, and could.

This "special project" I'm talking about has been discussed by the Rock for a month or so now. Sure it could just be his way of keeping the IWC hanging on his words, but if I remember correctly he said something along the lines of wanting to do something beyond a Guest Host one-nighter. he referenced finishing his current movie project and then coming back.
It was on the Torch or the Insider or both. I'll look for a link.

I don't think it's fair to lump Anderson and OJ in the same category as guys like Morley, the Nastys, or Hall. Anderson and OJ are still fairly young and in their primes, and were never overexposed in WWE.
I don't think Anderson has X-pac heat at all. The guy is just over as a heel. Part of that is working with Angle, for sure. But that's one of the keys to the wrestling business: giving the rub to a guy not on your level, and making them look like stars too. Like Flair did with Luger (and Sting) in 1988.

These predictions are from someone who hasn't seen any WWE on TV for around 11 months so these are based on TV reports... Orton - Drew can win the title back with a small crowd down the line, but they are really making Randy seem important.
