GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Manny Ramirez appeared in the Dodgers' clubhouse for the first time on Monday morning and promptly conceded this would be his final spring training with the club.
"I won't be here next year, so I just want to enjoy myself," Ramirez said. "I don't know [if I'll play next year]. I just know I'm not going to be here. When the season is over, I will see where I'm at."
It makes me wonder why the Dodgers are investing so much in him. They even named a freakin' section of the seats after him, for cripes sakes! I wonder how his reaction on Opening Day differs from the reaction he got last year?
I'm gonna let you finish, but my pink shirt demands your attention!
Manny in the last year of his contract when he knows he won't be coming back the next season? Enjoy the experience, especially when he wonders why he can't get a 50 game vacation this year, except having it be paid this time.
If I remember correctly, the Dodgers were doing better when Manny was on his 50 game suspension and when he came back, the Dodgers weren't too far ahead of the .500 mark. He is close to 40 so I don't know if other teams would jump the gun with this guy; he may be still able to hit, but wherever he goes, some type of news is sure to follow.

Huh. I'm kinda surprised by that. Perhaps it's because I accepted the conventional wisdom of the O's as overachievers from day one; I don't know. But look at this quote: Bittersweet? "Yeah, it sucked to fire him, but it's nice that he's gone.
