Y'know, if this match actually happens...what are the odds that Bret gets Vince to submit in the Sharpshooter and then actually wins the WWE title? It could be the ultimate make-up to Bret for screwing him years later. Obviously it would be a quickie reign (Bret would almost surely get Money in the Banked on Raw the next night), which makes me think it might happen.

Nah...Cena vs. Batista for the title. Bret in Cena's corner, Vince in Big Dave's corner. Cena goes over, Bret locks Vince in the Sharpshooter after the match, star wipe, and...we're out.

After the match? I'd say right before the end of the match. Perhaps even to keep Vince from saying "Ring the f'in bell" when Batista slaps a rudimentary STFU on Cena?

When Jericho came out saying "I'm going to Wrestle Mania!", it sounded like a clip that he was going to Disney World except Wrestle Mania. I love Jericho as champion as he is still one of the best heels but Edge comes out and as predicted, will challenge Jericho in just over a month. I am hoping that Edge does not win based on that last year alone he had 4 reigns as champion; I like Edge as he is a good wrestler and staple for the company, but him winning the belt an abundant number of times is too much.

-Randy Orton was staring into space (or staring at the TV screen and Jewel’s rack from the last segment)...good quote geemoney.

I am more curious about the Legacy and Orton thing as before the match, Ted DiBiase told Rhodes they were still sticking to the plan (?). At the end of the match, Orton DDT'd Rhodes and RKO'd DiBiase despite telling them before they were to work as a team. I am wondering if Orton knows whatever Legacy is up to or whatever else, but it seems that management is pulling the trigger on the break-up of Orton and Legacy but haven't pulled the trigger all the way yet.

Good promo between HBK and Undertaker with Shawn's soul (career) on the line for the Taker's streak. This definitely added some intrigue to the future WM match for these two as HBK and Taker had a solid match at last year's WM. Undertaker needs to take some time off and can without the belt but would they risk this for a potential 18-0? I can also see HBK taking a break but I am interesting to see if Triple H will somehow be a factor in the match.

So tonight we see if Cena will be going to WM to fight for the WWE Championship and if not, Sheamus goes instead. Less than a half minute into the match, Batista gets himself DQ'd with Cena now getting the title shot (why?). But it adds more character to Batista's heel personality and perhaps adds question marks regarding where Sheamus fits in because he technically has a rematch clause too. My guess is that we can see a triple threat for the WWE title.

Christian go to the MITB was expected and though Vince likes the big guys to hold the higher-end titles, I think Christian deserves it. With the lottery after WM, I hope Christian goes to Smackdown where I think he would do better.

That Ministry look for the Undertaker doesn't look as cool today as it used to. It makes him look like an old man, but it might be the hair that has a lot to do with that.

The Torch apparently said that as of this past weekend, that was the plan. I didn't see the report on the site itself (I never go there) and whether they printed it or not, it sounded awful to me and I really hope they don't go that way.

This is funny to me: I did the post show audio with Wade Keller and another columnist for the Torch on Sunday night, where Wade brought up the possibility of them heading that direction with Bret. To my knowledge, he posited that simply as an opinion, not citing any "sources" or anything like that who hinted that direction. The next day, I began reading, "The Torch said the direction was going to be Bret Hart winning the WWE Title...." Those two things are a bit different.

If it allows Bret to go to RAW the next night and retire as champ -- the very thing he was denied via Montreal -- I'm for it.

When he was in the ring, all I could think is-- that is one ugly dude.

He really looks different (facially) than when he came in in 1990/1991. I guess twenty years will do that.
I'm surprised there aren't rumors that he died and was replaced like everyone was saying about the Ultimate Warrior in 1992.

It's wild to think how long he's kept it going as the Undertaker. He came in among other "profession" gimmicks like garbagemen, tax men, repo men, plumbers, mounties, prison guards, clowns, etc. Yet he's still going.

I'm going to plug my friend's Raw recap, because he's a really funny dude and you should give him a read if you have the time: http://www.fanhouse.com/2010/02/23/wwe-raw-report-2-22-10/

John Cena held the championship at Elimination Chamber for a Yokozunian amount of time, so he has a rematch, which of course he wants Tonight™ and Right Now™ and In This Very Ring™. That match would be John Cena vs. Batista. Vince McMahon comes out and says that Sheamus also deserves a rematch, so if Cena wants to main event Wrestlemania he will have to compete tonight and defeat... Batista. Cena looks worried and scared. Because he did not speed walk out here at the top of the show to demand a match with Batista!

Serves them right for cryptically alluding to said plan in front of a television camera.

Good RAW. Jericho-Edge booking is good to see, as they picked a direction that made sense and didn't switch it up so it would surprise people. Love Edge, but worst spear in the history of the business. He's gotta start shooting with that thing.

Taker Shawn build has been great, but I must say, I'd much rather see Taker retire than Shawn. He seems to be even more hobbly and broken down and is also seemingly more immodest---enough to still take title well after his body is able to handle that spot. Also, re: Trips involvement, the placing of that Hunter line "There are plenty of guys you can face at Wrestlemania" in the video package seemed oddly...situated, for lack of a better word. Almost too close to the climax of the video in terms of the flow for Hunter not to be somehow involved. And if he is facing Seamus, that's one match they've done a dreadful job with setting up, as they still have no issue. Maybe Seamus can spill coffee on him or serve him his own dog or make a casket for him in the rare "dubba deep dubba wide" size.

Also, having re-watched the Shawn/Taker match from last year, I'm confident they can match it. It really was a simple bout, save for Taker's unbelievable leap onto his own skull. It was more about pacing and psychology, as well as the build and of course the 'Mania atmosphere that made it work, all of which they should still have this year.

Liked Christian getting in MITB.

Maybe Maryse was just being a heel, eh guys? Not everyone is Orton.

Speaking of Blandy, I sure hope this isn't a full face turn. Being the least of three boring evils doesn't set him up for babyface status. His last babyface run was an unmitigated disaster, due mostly to his being completely unlikable (as anything other than a cool heel). Plus, they've spent a good year and a half setting up that he's basically a sociopath, you can't just make him Captain Planet overnight. He's got fire, and maybe even a little earth wind and water. But the man has no heart.

I don't know why everyone's assuming that if Shawn retires, he'll be back within a few months. Well...ok, maybe I CAN see why, but I still don't buy that. Michaels is in his 40's and not getting any younger and I think his ego would love nothing better than to go out on a MotY candidate at Wrestlemania.

Let me present my case.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2aJShRN9No

2:50 - Maryse runs into a hard kick, which we can't see that well, but Lawler from his angle is surprised and says "oh man."

2:55 - this throws off the timing of Gail's missed dive spot because Maryse is stunned and retreats to the corner too soon. Gail dives anyway. (conceivably this part could've happened anyway just out of the two of them not being very good.)

3:00 - Maryse realizes she's in a lot of pain and stops to wince and hold her neck for a long time. the match falls apart for about 30 seconds while the ref asks her if she's okay.

4:10 - they go through the finish, Maryse pins her, angrily tugs on her hair, then seems to get in her face and yell at her after the bell.

4:35, 5:00 - Maryse celebrates and goes back to holding her neck, with a combination of in-character bitchiness and looking like she's holding back tears.

A heel sold a kick to the face like her face hurt and then later acted mean? OR SOMETHING MUCH MUCH MORE??????????????

The post-match "Bitch" seemed out of character for someone as "cool" as Maryse.

Hehe, getting a fireball in your face doesn't do much for anyone's beauty. He looked swollen up and bloodshot -- even had to wipe his watering eyes before a tear showed on camera -- and his skin will be peeling like a sumbitch in another day or so. I think he lost most of his eyelashes and singed his brows and beard as well. Yeah, that pyro accident scared the bejabbers out of me; why do you ask?

Not that "pretty boy" ever described the Undertaker particularly well at any point, but pretty isn't the whole story. I think HBK has lost a lot more in looks over the years.

Aww, Z, you warm my heart.

I quit watching WWE between Eddie's death and the runup to WM 25, roughly speaking. Now my kids have grown up into the next generation of fans, so Vince is getting some of my money again. I hope he's sufficiently grateful -- San Jose Supershow tix for four doesn't run cheap. Though there's nothing like watching a rassling show with two adolescent boys unashamedly marking out right next to you.

Any chance of the WWF having a few legendary Japanese wrestlers on the Yokohama card? That'd be cool. Maybe they could even do a little cross-promotional WWF vs. Japan card at some point like WCW did with Starrcade.
