While it is a love song and The Cure are undeniably wimpy, it just ain't cheesy.

To put "Lovesong" within 100 miles of this thread is sacrilege. "Lovesong" is neither cheesy nor wimpy, but is rather one of the best rock love songs EVER! I will accept no argument on this point!!! ;)

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE The Cure. Snake River Conspiracy does a very fine job with that song too. You do have to admit though that if you were in a rumble, you wouldn't want Robert Smith watching your back. The Cure are a little...well let's just be kind and say non-aggressive. ;)

Well no Robert Smith isn't who I'd want backing me up in a bar brawl, but I wouldn't want Elton John either behind me in any way shape or form, but that doesn't mean "Your Song" isn't still a beautiful love song which avoids cheese quite well.

Gotta throw out a mention of the Tori Amos cover of "Lovesong", which depending on the day and wind direction I sometimes like more than the original.

Anyone remember the joy of seeing him bash the Undertaker's motorcycle with his sledgemhammer and doing no damage and being all like, "Mjolnir will not break thine cycle? I say thee NAY!" and dumping it off the stage. - Enojado Viento says the funniest thing I've ever read on Wienerville.

Snake River Conspiracy also covered "How Soon Is Now" by The Smiths, which BTW is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Ok,I'm wimpy,I'll admit it.

I didn't say it was cheesy, I said it was wimpy ;)

"Glory of Love" by Chicago
A Cure song that is a bit cheesy(don't get me wrong, I love it, but...)
"Just Like Heaven"
"All For You" by Sister Hazel
"Name" by the Goo Goo Dolls

And...

You should ALL be ashamed to call yourselves wrestling fans.

Lest you forget "Never Been a Right Time to Say Goodbye" by Bret Hart!

Who hasn't covered that song? Smoths originally did it, then Love Spit Love, SNC, Meatmen... sheesh. Those are just the covers I found on Audiogalaxy.

They're my favourite band, but damned if U2's "Sweetest Thing" isn't a pretty wussy song.

That was from Peter Cetera's solo career. Don't drag down Chicago with that song - they already have "You're The Inspiration" to do that for them.

I can't believe the start of this thread saw "Mandy" in it...quite possibly one of the...oh nevermind. I love that song.

Go find Me First & the Gimme Gimmes' version of it.

Can I add No Doubt's "Don't Speak" to this list?

Quicks--oh, yeah, they did. Stupid Audiogalaxy... (stomps Hilary Rosen)

And shouldn't it go without saying, Bullitt, that if there is a Me First & the Gimme Gimme's version of a song on this list, to go get it? Thanks to Taxicab Confessions, I have their version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" lodged in my head...

Thank you for reminding me of another of my all time favorite cheeseball songs, "Look Away" by Chicago, post-Cetera regime.

And once again as we discuss covers I must throw my favorite artist in, for the Tori version of the aforementioned "Somewhere over the rainbow"

A way overplayed pop ballad by an Orange County "ska" band, with a chorus basically ripped off from the chorus of "Theme from 'Fame'"?

The next sound you hear will be me laughing my ass off for the next few hours.
