I don't see how this makes any sense at all. Your offense is horrible, you have no WRs to throw to, and you want to take a chance on Vick? I've read he's been really dedicated in the off season to working out and making his life right, but that doesn't mean he deserves consideration as a starter.

I can actually sort of see what they are doing here. With a lockout and potential rookie salary cap coming, it would be a higher risk than usual to take Clausen and pay him an ass-load of money. With Vick is position for whatever period of time, the Rams can safely (even if wrongly) take Suh with the first pick and can sort of spin it off as the best fiscal decision.

The bad news for the Rams is that the Redskins will happily let this happen and thrive under Clausen for the next ten years or so.

That would be surprising to say the least. And not just for the reasons you described. St. Louis (other than Atlanta, obviously) is literally the last place I expected Vick to be welcome.

In my short time (~3 years) living in St. Louis I came under the impression that St. Louis is a VERY dog-friendly town (to the point where there's a neighborhood called Dogtown, although the origins of that name have been debated in the past). I adopted my first little pup there and I have yet to live or visit anywhere else where dog ownership was so easy and/or common.

I'd like to think the dog fighting thing won't follow Vick forever, but it may still be too soon to hope for that to be the case right now. Add to that the fact that the Rams aren't that far removed from having passers who can put up giant numbers in the air, and it doesn't seem like Vick is the right fit.

Then again, maybe the people in St. Louis still remember the 30-point beating the Atlanta Michael Vicks put on them in the playoffs a few years ago. hehe

I still say they draft another QB. I am guessing Colt. I think Clausen will drop like Quinn did for no reason other then GMs with heads up their asses. My wife the Philly Girl loves this, she can go back to rooting for them after she jumped ship in pre-season due to Vick to the Saints or she will keep rooting for winners.

Well, the Rams have kept Leonard Little around and he's actually quite popular now, despite killing somebody.

Stephen Jackson was just accused of beating on his 9 month pregnant girlfriend.

I don't see how Vick coming in really ADDS anything.

Null (one of their backups) seemed capable of at least being a placeholder in the offense until a better solution comes along.

And, Kyle Boller is still (I believe) under contract. He never did set the world on fire, but at least he has experience.

Vick isn't the answer, but neither is drafting Clausen or Bradford. I don't think either will be great pros, but we'll see. McCoy I think has a better shot at long term success, but he can likely be had much lower in the draft anyway.

The only real answer to this topic is 1-15.

Look, the Rams are putrid. They have no offense. Adding Vick wouldn't subtract anything less than drafting an unknown would, and with an offensive line as bad as St. Louis's, I wouldn't recommend putting s rookie QB behind it.

Is Bulger done then?

I like that idea a lot. He plays indoors or against teams in the west. He gets a dome just like he had in Atlanta. He will stay in the NFC for this potential third team. If I'm a wide receiver, I suddenly like the idea of playing for the Rams.

Interesting.

I'm also dying to see where Peppers goes.

Because Mike Vick is your QB? He of the 54% completion percentage?

Since 1990, with a minimum of 600 passing attempts, Vick's completion percentage is 9th worst among QBs ( http://www.pro-football-reference.com/play-index/tiny/etbhz ). The last thing I would want is a guy like him responsible for getting the ball to me.

For those who aim to make the SportsCenter highlights, a deep bomb from a guy with that arm is a shiny bauble. Plus he's always a threat to run and defenses have to take that into account. He's not the perfect QB, but he's older now. He's more likely to follow a co-ordinator's scheme.

If you're a guy like TO who wants to breeze into town and be a star on a low-wattage team, Vick has to be a siren (even one luring you to the rocks).

If this is all the case, I would rather take my chances on Jason Campbell and fill in the other holes with the picks. Although, if they are having a hard time selling out their stadium, they might have to bring in Vick.

Well, the Rams have been sold, so I wonder if he'll have any say in the offseason moves before the sale becomes final.

Kyle Boller sucks in every possible way. He has less experience than Vick, a poorer QB rating, only marginally less crappy completion percentage, crappier TD-INT ratio and significantly crappier rushing ability.

He's not even a good approximation of an NFL quarterback. He had the Joey Harrington thing going on where he'd throw in one or two good games a season just to tease you into thinking he'd turned the corner, then he'd go straight back to sucking again. Man can't play the game.

Vick at least *was* a good quarterback (if not an accurate passer) for a while and he showed enough last season to suggest he can still do a job in the NFL. I dunno if he's got any value as a starter at this stage, but if you're coming off a 1-15 season you might as well roll the dice on a guy like Vick than play 'safe' with someone whose shitiness is well established.

There's still hope for Quinn's career, he's been on a terrible team yet has more TDs than interceptions in 13 career starts.

The Rams will/must take Suh or McCoy with the #1 pick. Drafting a quarterback instead would be totally moronic. You have two guys who pretty much every draftnik agrees are head and shoulders above the rest of the draft, and St. Louis instead picks a QB? No way.

The bad news for the Rams is that the Redskins will happily let this happen and thrive under Clausen for the next ten years or so.

First of all, who's to say that Clausen will be any good? Who was the last Notre Dame QB that was even a decent pro? Steve Beuerlein? And that was 25 years ago.

Also, if Washington drafts Clausen, you know he'll be terrible since that franchise is run by idiots.

Define 'decent' because Quinn has been 'decent' so far in his short career. I also don't see how previous school success translated to current prospects. The guy that won a Super Bowl last year went to QB powerhouse Miami (OH) and his opponent who's been to three went to Northern Iowa. Northern Iowa. This year's QBs went to Purdue and Tennessee. So clearly it doesn't really matter that Clausen went to Notre Dame except he'll be over valued and people will consider him a bust if he's not the next Joe Montana because hey Montana went to Notre Dame too and we have to compare two people by any slim thread we can.

In his three-year NFL career, Brady Quinn has played 14 games, completing 52 percent of his passes and throwing 10 touchdowns against nine interceptions. He has fewer than 2,000 yards passing in his 14-game career. His career passer rating is 66.8

If Brady Quinn is decent, then there has never been a bad NFL quarterback.

I'm not really sure what Brady Quinn has to do with Jimmy Clausen or Michael Vick, but I AM sure there aren't too many NFL general managers kicking themselves for passing on him, which was Psycho Penguin's claim. And the guy who DID draft him is no longer an NFL general manager.

Psycho Penguin simply said that Quinn was salvageable in a better situation.

It's possible, but I can't really think of any highly drafted players that failed on one team, and then succeeded on another team.

So you think a guy playing on the Browns that has thrown more TDs than interceptions in his career has been awful? I just refuse to believe the guy is as bad as everyone on the internet that wants to throw him under the bus already. He's still young.
