No kidding. I'm glad this game will halt the insufferable 'is Manning the best QB ever?' debate. I don't recall ever seeing Joe Montana throw a game-ending INT on the climactic drive of a Super Bowl. In Peyton's defense, I guess John Candy wasn't in the stands.
Kirk, crackers are a family food. Happy families. Maybe single people eat crackers, we don't know. Frankly, we don't want to know. It's a market we can do without.
Tracy Porter picked up a trend in his film study and 74 yards later it was bedlam in the state of Louisiana. I think I need to schedule a business trip to Nawlins as soon as I can.
and how did Giants fans feel about Shockey getting the game winning TD ?
I wanted the Colts to win, but congratulations are in order for the New Orleans Saints. With everything that has happened the last few years and the rebuilding from Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans deserves to celebrate for something (and again, congrats Saints).
I don't think the game hurt Manning's legacy; he got over the hump of "winning the big one" a few years ago. He did throw the interception which was the dagger in the heart for the Colts. However, the Colts D after the first quarter left wide-open receivers and let Drew Brees dissect them (and tie a Super Bowl record for most completions)and you cannot allow an offensive-minded football team like the Saints to get chances and the momentum.
Manning and Brees are still in their primes which means they have both have plenty in the tank for another Super Bowl birth and win.
And I will agree with Matt Tracker that New Orleans is a good football team beating Warner, Favre, and Manning in consecutive games (all future Hall of Famers).
*Oh did anyone catch the ad with Favre being the 2020 MVP? I thought that was a good ad as he actually poked fun at himself for his indecisive behavior about retiring.

I'm no Giants fan and I think Shockey is a douche, but even I felt for him when Nantz mentioned that the Giants though so little of him that Shockey had to pay his own way to Super Bowl 42. That was pretty cold.

Congrats to the New Orleans Saints, the Super Bowl XLIV champions. Though of course I'm sorry it's at the Colts' expense, it is good to see New Orleans win a Super Bowl, which is something I'm sure a lot of Saints fans thought they'd never see.
Just like I was able to watch the Colts win in Super Bowl XLI, something I was starting to wonder if I'd never see.
I don't think this tarnishes Manning's legacy at all (he's already won one, and the result of this one could have easily gone the other way-- 31-17 looks like much more of a blowout than it really was). But this definitely establishes Brees as an elite quarterback, as if he weren't already.
Again, congrats to the Saints... we lost to the better team.

Losing Shockey was addition by subtraction, for that team. I don't know what he was like this year - but the fact that I don't know what he was like is probably a good sign. I'm happy for Shockey, but I'm happier for Brees.
Great game. Wish I hadn't been catching up on the DVR when the onside kick came, but it was still crazy seeing them pull that off.
Great game and very enjoyable. I wouldn't bust Manning's chops, they lost as a team. To me it was the team with everything to lose vs. the team with nothing to lose.

According to the AP wire, this game is now the most watched TV show ever, beating the M*A*S*H finale.
Super Bowl is most watched TV show ever NEW YORK (AP) -- The Super Bowl was watched by more than 106 million people, surpassing the 1983 finale of "M-A-S-H" to become the most-watched program in television history.
The Nielsen Co. estimated Monday that 106.5 million people watched the New Orleans Saints upset the Indianapolis Colts. That beats the "M-A-S-H" finale, which had 105.97 million viewers in an era when there were fewer television sets.
Compelling story lines involving the city of New Orleans and its recovery from Hurricane Katrina and the quest for a second Super Bowl ring for Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning propelled the viewership.
The game also obliterated the previous record viewership for a Super Bowl - last year's game between Arizona and Pittsburgh in which 98.7 million people watched.

Indeed. The first number there is the percentages of all households that were watching the show in question. The number after the slash is the number of televisions that were in use that were watching the show. I think it's a foregone conclusion that the household rating (the 60.2) will never be equaled. I'm surprised that the share was so high for the Super Bowl. That 77 might still be in reach.
Soon as I saw both of our picks were Kansas City, I immediately knew KC was losing. I originally had Philly as my pick, but changed it on Thursday to KC.
