That's exactly how I feel, only the exact opposite. If the Colts win and I have to sit through more "Peyton Manning is Jesus" (he's actually a whiny douchebag choke-artist from a silver-spoon whiny-douchebag family whom the NFL caters to, to the point of gradually changing offensive rules so Mr. Choke-Artist-Who-Puts-Up-Stats-But-Not-Wins could win) and "Jim Caldwell is the Silent Destroyer" overhyped ESPN nonsense, I quite possibly may go on an interstate killing rampage. The Saints winning is the only good thing that can come out of this Super Bowl.

What the hell are you talking about? Did you not even watch this?

Excuse me???!?!?
Despite how you or anyone else feels about the Manning Hype Machine, I'd rather have years more of that than even one more second of people calling the (S)aints America's team. There just happen to be certain people in this country (see, e.g., Falcons fans) who hate the (S)aints and will continue to hate them no matter what.
I love the city of New Orleans. I've enjoyed my time there every time I've visited. The food is fantastic, the people are friendly. I hate what happened to them a few years back. BUT... I hate the Saints and want them to lose every single game they ever play. That is all.

As much as it pains me to defend them, the Bears went 13-3, were the #1 seed, and were second in the league in points scored AND points allowed.
That being said, Manning wasn't exactly dominant in the game.
They also had Rex Grossman at QB. That was the year of the Colts somehow beating New England with a late rally in the AFC title game too. Very un-Patriot like.
But yeah, people acting like Manning actually acoomplished something by winning that game astound me. If he had his numbers in a loss, he'd be a big time choker. It's a team game.
EDIT - And obviously the Saints aren't all from New Orleans, but the team is a big reason for the people there to be uplifted. The Saints really sucked prior to Katrina and now they're good. That's a good story that ESPN doesn't even need to 'spin'. It makes the people of New Orleans happy, just like Indianapolis is happy to have a good team. Pointing out they're not actually all born and raised in the city means nothing. What difference would it make if they were?

Dude, you make it sound like he was some hapless bystander who backed into a Superbowl thanks to the Patriots, then saw his team win despite his best efforts to lose it for them.
You're absolutely right that it's a team game, but QBs will always be judged by the media based first and foremost on Ws and Ls, and it's not like Peyton wasn't being held solely responsible for defeats even though it was still a team game when they were losing. It amazes me that people use Peyton's playoff record to beat him up (even though the Colts' inept D and 'idiot kicker', plus the awesomeness of the Patriots from early last decade had at least something to do with it) but then try to play down his wins because he didn't post 400 yards and five TDs.
He's played well in some defeats and been merely OK in some wins, same as any other QB. He helped engineer a huge 4th quarter comeback against arguably the best team since the start of the salary cap era, then completed two-thirds of his passes for near 250 yards against one of the best defences in the league that season. That's at least "very good".
And the Bears as one of the worst SuperBowl participants of all time? Seriously, come on. In the last ten years alone we've had the awfulness of the Giants from 2001 and the hideous stench of the Raiders team that lost to the Bucs.
I'm not denying the Manning love from the dear media reaches annoying levels, but to act like he isn't tremendously good at what he does is a bit silly.
And he unquestionably accomplished something by beating the Bears. He won a SuperBowl. BE ASTOUNDED
Manning has been pretty tremendous in two AFC Championship Games now. The Colts have had their gigantic postseason disappointments but unless Peyton does something egregious in the Super Bowl, the choker label is pretty far removed from his legacy now.
Colts did have a pretty cake path to the Super Bowl beating the two wild card teams though.

EDIT - Good Lord, I'm typo-tastic today.

I'm not saying he choked or didn't, I'm saying it's unfair to blame a QB for a loss and praise him for a win if the numbers are pretty much identical. If they lost that SB 48-45 in OT and he threw for 700 yards, he'd probably be labeled a choker. I know I am not reinventing the wheel by saying thats unfair, but that was pretty much my point. He's obviously a great player and should have always been thought of as a tremendous quarterback even before his team beat the Bears in one of the worst Super Bowls ever (not really related to the subject, just throwing my opinion in there that the game was boring). He obviously deserves credit for being there and not playing horribly, but that didn't make him any better of a QB in my eyes.
And yes the Colts had an easy run to this Super Bowl which I am surprised a lot of media hasn't picked up on. Has a Super Bowl participant ever beaten the two lowest seeds in the playoffs to advance? Usually a WC team sneaks in so it's unlikely, at least recently.
EDIT - For instance, I think Dan Marino was a better QB than John Elway, and Phillip Rivers is one of the best QBs in the league and probably better than Thomas Brady now.
I was all prepared to go on a diatribe about how I'm a Pats' fan (so I should HATE him) and how I can't believe that Peyton Manning's awesomeness is even a point of discussion, because he is obviously JUST THAT AWESOME, but my thoughts are now dominated by how this...

I'm a Colts hater and I respect Peyton for his accomplishments in the league.
What's going on with the name changes? When I attended Super Bowl 41, it was called Dolphin Stadium located in Miami Gardens. Now it is Sun Life Stadium in Opa Locka, Florida? Wasn't it called Land Shark Stadium as recently as last week?
It was also Joe Robbie Stadium and Pro Player Park- am I missing any other names?
I haven't seen an identity crisis this bad in sports since the Los Angeles/California/Anaheim/Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
The stadium owners can't get a good long term naming rights deal, so they've been selling it from year to year. (Which probably doesn't hurts them; it's all very short sided.)
They weren't even getting paid for the Land Shark name, it was some odd revenue sharing deal that ran out before the Super Bowl. This naming contract is for five years according to wikipedia, so maybe we can get attached to it.

In my mind the worst was always Joey Harrington: "John Joseph Harrington Jr". If he had come into the league as Jim Harrington, I think his career would have been totally different. No one is going to take a Joey seriously.
I'm in Baton Rouge for work this week and there is just a HUGE BUZZ here for the game. T-Shirts and whatnot everywhere and nearly every story on the news has a Super Bowl slant and every bar & restaurant is showing Saints games from this season.
Never been a Peyton fan since he went to Tennessee and since I know people here who are Saints fans, I'll be throwing my support behind the "Who Dat's?" even though I'm getting tired of seeing and hearing that on every other local commercial here this week (which means with my luck the Saints are doomed).

This cannot be a good thing. If you cant sign your number one pick you have problems. The Chargers need to get their act together, and it starts by getting personnel in there to get them out of the cellar.
