Ok, I'm morbidly curious to see what follows last week's trainwreck -- and possibly spare poor Karlos the Jackal from having to watch anymore of this show. As our resident homegrown TNA fan, he's suffered enough lately. And I'll give this trainwreck another shot, so let's do it.

SCREWED (Picture this week's title in REALLY FREAKIN' BIG LETTERS!)

-We start this week with Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff. I don't know about anyone else, but starting a show with Hogan and Bischoff gives me serious Nitro flashbacks. Bischoff vows to investigate the Orlando Screwjob from last week. Meanwhile, Hulk wants to nip the situation with Mick Foley and Uncle Eric in the bud. Mick comes out and pleads his innocence (re: the bloodying of Bischoff last week), pointing out that if he HAD gotten his hands on Bischoff, a stretcher would have been needed. Hulk tells Mick that he needs to work it out or walk out, brother. Bad start.

-Backstage, we see Bubba the Love Sponge bringing in Jeff Jarrett.

-Christy Hemme talks to Ken Anderson. Anderson complains about having to do everything himself, so he has to book himself in a match. Better recappers than me would have inserted a joke here. It's an open challenge and Anderson's begging for Abyss to answer.

-The "Eight Card Stud" tournament is announced to determine a #1 contender at "Against All Odds".

-Desmond Wolfe (w/Chelsea) v. Sean Morley: "Eight Card Stud Tournament" match
Chelsea's the name of Wolfe's new valet. Someone's been listening to the complaints, because this turns out to be somewhat of a squash in Wolfe's favor. Wolfe wins when he counters the Money Shot with the Tower of London.
WINNER: Desmond Wolfe

-Jeff Jarrett meets with Hogan and Bischoff. Hogan welcomes Jarrett aboard and tells him he'll be working up from the bottom. Bischoff proposes putting Jarrett in the open challenge match with Ken Anderson. That'll happen tonight.

-Ric Flair and AJ Styles try on suits. Flair looks forward to a 30-day vacation. No, not THAT kind of 30-day vacation.

-Christopher Daniels v. Hernandez: "Eight Card Stud Tournament" match
Tenay and Taz inform us that this tournament will also help determine the new TNA rankings. I give that concept three months before it gets scrapped. A decent five-minute match ends when Hernandez gets the pin with a Dominator.
WINNER: Hernandez

-Eric Bischoff comes out to introduce The Nasty Boys and Team 3D to usher in the Wrestling Apocalypse announce their match at "Against All Odds". Ray wonders where they've been. Sags yells a lot. Devon talks about the titles they've won. Knobbs yells about the teams they've beaten. These two teams will face each other at the PPV. SMELL THE BUYRATE! (tm CRZ)

-Christy Hemme talks to the Beautiful People. Lacey Von Erich's continued employment staggers me.

-Bischoff brings Bobby Lashley into his office. He commends Lashley for finally speaking up for himself, but he's fired anyway. Security escorts Lashley out. Um...who am I supposed to be rooting for here? I thought Lashley was supposed to be the heel?

-The Beautiful People v. Hamada, Awesome Kong, and Tara (w/Tarantula)
I'm assuming this is the start of the Awesome Kong farewell tour. We get chaos at the end of the match, as Kong chases Velvet Sky to the back. Lacey then knocks Hamada with the Ugly Stick, allowing for Rayne to cover.
WINNERS: The Beautiful People

-Rayne and Lacey attack Tara afterwards before Angelina Love makes the save.

-Hogan grills Earl Hebner about last week's Orlando Screwjob. Hebner tries to feign innocence, but Hogan points out that the hold wasn't even fully applied, so Angle couldn't tap out. Hebner then confesses to screwing Angle. Hebner then talks about how Vince didn't screw Bret and Shawn didn't screw Bret, but HE screwed Bret. Hogan asks why and Hebner responds that he did it for the money, having been given a big payout from Flair. Hogan suspends Hebner indefinitely. The only question I have after this is, who is this "Bret" person and where can I see him?

-Bubba talks to Mick Foley backstage. Foley says either things will be resolved or he'll hit the road, not owing anyone a dime.

-Kurt Angle comes out to vent about the Orlando Screwjob. He's in the tournament and vows victory. He talks about Styles disappointing everyone, including the TNA "Cast Members". Hulk Hogan comes out, pointing out that Angle spit in his face last week. Hogan promises to fire Angle if such a thing happens again. Angle points out that Hulk's leadership makes him responsible for what happens, while simultaneously apologizing to the Almighty Hulk. We get a handshake before Syxx-Pac and Scott Hall jump Angle from behind. Why would they do that, since they haven't had any interaction with Angle since their arrival? Who the hell knows anymore?

-Hall and Waltman are escorted out by security. Hall says he'll see us next week. Joy.

-THE Brian Kendrick & The Motor City Machine Guns v. The Amazing Red & Generation ME
Nice six-man spotfest. The MCMG look to finish Red, but Kendrick makes the blind tag and kicks Red in the head for the pin.
WINNERS: Brian Kendrick and The MCMG

-The British Invasion come down and beat down Red some more. Rob Terry wants to cash in his X Division briefcase, but decides to give it to Doug Williams instead...for some reason.

-The Amazing Red v. Doug Williams: X Division Title Match
Red tries to come back with a quick Tornado DDT, but Williams is way too fresh. Chaos Theory ends things quickly.
WINNER (AND NEW CHAMPION): Doug Williams

-The British Invasion celebrate, except for Terry. Why Terry would even bother to give away his briefcase and then sulk about it later is baffling.

-Foley and Bischoff meet in Uncle Eric's room. Foley would rather clean up deuces at a Chuck E. Cheese than work with Bischoff. Bischoff vows to fire Jeremy Borash and Abyss if Mick walks. Mick decides to stay like an idiot, because Abyss isn't even booked tonight and clearly Borash has plenty of work these days.

-Bischoff then walks over to Ric Flair. Because Ric Flair signed his contract before the Hogan regime, it's iron clad and can't be terminated. I won't even ask why no one else on this roster thought of that, because my head would hurt. Bischoff tells Flair and Styles to cancel their vacation plans, because everyone works in TNA...unless they aren't booked, of course. How IS Samoa Joe doing, anyway? And can they make up their minds on Bischoff being a face or heel, already?

-Mr. Ken Anderson v. Jeff Jarrett
Anderson does his spiel. Jarrett gets no music or pyro. Highlight of the match is Anderson reviving the Kenton Bomb, though it misses. Jarrett tries to finish with The Stroke, but Anderson gets a Greco-Roman Nutshot and gets an inside cradle.
WINNER: Ken Anderson

-Show ends with Anderson attacking after the bell and hitting the Mic Check, as Bischoff gloats in his office. Ok, I'll ask again...who's the face here? Jarrett came out on Monday Night iMPACT and played the face, he came out a week later in total heel mode, and now he's supposed to be the main event face we're rooting for? And WHY is the top face looking like it's JEFF JARRETT again?

Not as wretched as last week, but still plenty of headaches to be had. Things aren't looking up, but I'm a glass half-full kind of guy, like Mick. Certainly can't get any worse.

I actually liked this show.. what's so bad about it? Okay, besides the Nasty Boyz vs Dudley Boyz feud. They're actually trying new ideas that I appreciate - a top 10 ranking system is something I heard old WCW did and sounds like the kind of thing that can separate it from WWE. And the main event had Ken Anderson in it, and the midcard had matches like Morley vs Wolfe and Hernandez vs Daniels. I can live with this kind of show every week.

EDIT - Oh and they actually turned Lashley face last week when he went into Bischoff's office, which you should know since you labeled last week's show a 'trainwreck, making me assume you watched it.

Whats so bad about this show?
Jesus, it's just the LOGIC that's missing for one. Talking about how Kurt Angle's "Been in Hogans office with the door closed all day, waiting for Hulk" when at the time they had already had about three segments from Hogan's office.

Then they show the Earl Hebner part, and then Kurt comes out and Hogan says "after you left, I talked to Earl".

Amazing Red comes out (hey, did you remember he worked here?) and has his Belt (Hey, remember the X Division that they haven't really mentioned since the first match of the Monday Nitro episode?) Then proceeds to lose it in about two minutes.

Lashley is "turned face" somehow? What's he now, Lex Lugar 2.0?

Mick Foley, who was fired, then not fired, then warned he might BE fired says he doesn't care if he IS fired?

Why was Avril Lavigne in the crowd, right behind Mr Anderson, drinking beer with her grandmother?

The females match features everything wrong about the females, namely Lacey Von Erich, (at least she's pretty) and ignores the ones who CAN work a match. All the quick tags did nothing for the match.

Oh, and (its a little thing) why does Bischoff's monitor sit on the screen left side of the desk, until he's watching the Double J match, then its on the other side.
Plus, why even SHOW that part?

Oh, and last but not least, 1988 called, and they want that Nasty Boys promo back. "we're nasty, we've been nasty, nasty nasty nasty nasty, etc etc"
PAINFUL.
Christ, the Dudleys have been there five years?
Haven't they paid enough dues, that they shouldn't have to mess with guys who haven't been around in ten years (as they so nicely pointed out)?

I can't help but think this run is just going to get uglier and uglier, and there's noting to do but watch the trainwreck, then we'll all lament how cool TNA used to be (or not) after they go off the air.

Watching this reminds me of just why I hate Bischoff and Hogan. It's not that they get the big stuff wrong - they do, mostly, and catastrophically at that. It's the little things. The gaps in logic, the lack of faces and heels, the laziness. It just all builds up.

Ha ha! I actually did watch the show, using my NEW SYSTEM: whenever the average age of the people on-screen is older than I am, I hit the FFWD button. Hulk and Bischoff? FFWD. Foley and Jarrett? FFWD. I'll watch Team 3D, but when the Nasty Boys show up -- sorry, OVER THE LINE: FFWD. AJ Styles + Ric Flair = FFWD...but, wait, should I count the models? They'd bring it back under the limit...

(Also, an exception: Bubba the Love Sponge is an automatic FFWD no matter who he's with.)

Anyway, with my NEW SYSTEM, I was able to watch the show in about half an hour.

Desmond Wolfe (w/Chelsea) v.
Right ending. Morley continues to show me absolutely nothing, but I'm biased against him -- how do other people feel? Chelsea's dull as dishwater, too, but at least she has a name now.

Christopher Daniels v.
I feel bad for Daniels. Is there any beef that we know of between him and Hulk? Because now I'm wondering if he got his dalliance with the Main Event at the end of last year because someone knew that he'd never see it again after Hogan came in.

I dig ranking systems, but I think three months is generous -- TNA's done them before (mostly for the X Division, I think) and they never even last a month.

Lacey Von Erich's continued employment staggers me.
Yeah, and they know she's lousy -- she didn't do anything at all in that match except take a kick and a moonsault. I don't know why Stagger found her to be the focus -- I thought the focus was clearly Hamada, especially the sequence where she just KILLED everyone with kicks. That ruled.

Rob Terry wants to cash in his X Division briefcase, but decides to give it to Doug Williams instead...for some reason.
Well, to be fair, it was clearly against his will. Is he directly employed by the Brits, maybe? I dunno. This is all part of Terry's face turn, which should be "awesome."

Mr. Ken Anderson v. Jeff Jarrett
Both these guys fall into the same category for me: "Adequate, but not interesting." This bored me. I was slightly intrigued by the Stroke vs. the Mic Check since they're kind of similar, but nothing much happened on that front either.

Jarrett came out on Monday Night iMPACT and played the face, he came out a week later in total heel mode, and now he's supposed to be the main event face we're rooting for?
What I heard is that JJ was supposed to be a face, but slightly less of a face than Hogan, so that the crowd would cheer both. What happened is that the crowd turned on Hogan pretty hard. My speculation is that they went into panic mode the next week and felt like they had to make sure that dumb ol' Jeff Jarrett couldn't be cheered more than the almighty Hogan.

Heh. What's frustrating is that I thought they did some really good stuff in the last half of 2009, particularly the last two PPVs and some of the TV around it.

More importantly, it felt like they finally got it, and were moving in a positive direction, what with the whole "Youth Movement" that turned out to be, to my surprise, more than just lip service.

I was actually excited about where TNA seemed to be heading -- even while keeping in mind that they tend to change course at the drop of a hat -- but even so I wasn't prepared for the huge changes we're seeing with the Hogan regime. Almost everything positive about the last six months has vanished like it never existed, and everything -- everything about innovation, about the "young guys," about the show being a "WRESTLING" show -- it's all gone back to being just lip service.

It's just...really disappointing.

Could it all still be part of a huge angle?
Hogan + Bischoff do their thing, when suddenly Hogan realizes he is making the same mistake all over again and suddenly sides with the young guys.

It would fit totally into the "shades of grey" and "play the smarts" angles that Hogan/Eric and Russo have been so fond of the past 15 years.

I'm not saying this is the case, and it isn't really working out since they're quickly losing any goodwill TNA might have had it seems, but that's the only thing I can think of other than "They are insane and want to kill the company"

The show is so chaotic right now that is at least more interesting then Raw. I am not a big fan of promo after backstage skit and vice versa for the entire show. I understand they want to build storylines with all the new roster while trying to figure out to do with the old roster, but its going a bit overboard. Anderson has a personality which is more then I can say for most of Hogan's friends and to be fair most of the original roster. He is someone if used correctly which at this point, he is, could do good things for them. Desmond Wolfe continues to built strong and AJ is still champ. The NWO stuff was kept to two rather short segments. I am intrigued by Nasty Boys/3D, because I expect a rather bloody brawl between the two at the PPV. Team 3D has worked with worse and made them look good.

I still think the show is in flux, but you get the feeling that certain people are finding their groove. Its almost like a chemistry set where somethings make bubble gum and other things are going to burn your eyebrows off. The Kong situation has probably killed their Knockout division, but they are at least keeping AJ, Jarrett, Kurt and Wolfe in the spotlight. The real problem is that even with Hogan's friends moving in, the roster was already crowded. They will probably wait a few weeks and begin mass firings. Which I do hope includes most of Hogan's friends or it will be a giant slap in the face.

I haven't seen the show yet, since they don't post it on SpikeTV.com for a few days but, for what it's worth, Dixie posted on her Twitter that Rob Terry won the Global Championship over the weekend on the European tour. I don't know if that's part of the reason or what, though. I always get confused with taping schedules.

Better than last week, but that's not saying much. I like AJ and Flair together, and was glad to see Hernandez and Wolfe advance (especially when it meant Venis jobbing). The X match was great for the small segment it was given, & Generation Me is impressing me. Not crazy about their new name, though. Plus it may not be cool to like Ken Anderson, but I do.

I may say this every week, as does everyone else, but the Nasty Boys and Hall have GOT to go.

Karlos, I assumed Hogan took one look at the size of Daniels, and figured he "couldn't draw at a flea market". Then again, AJ is still the champ, so maybe not.

It is appalling to think that the current mess could be based out of sheer stupidity. I've seen it happen, though. (Although in the collapses I've seen, there's always somebody lurking around the baseboards who is making a profit.)

I've already posited the (only-half kidding) scenario where Vince (or Steph, Shane, &/or HHH) has already bought TNA, & this is all a meta-angle around that. It's a longshot, but I still like it better than "just a bunch of morons trying to lose money."

Wow, that's quite the time warp. TNA's site lists Williams as X champ since yesterday, and Terry as Global champ since the day before yesterday. But Terry didn't have the belt yesterday, since he hadn't won yet, even though he won the day before! WHAT IS GOING ON

I like Doug Williams as X Champ, by the way. He can hang with the flippy-flippy guys but he's not a standard "cruiserweight."

As for Terry, well, it's pretty much just as I predicted seven weeks ago, so go me. I think it's a title change of convenience due to Eric Young's rules (non-American competitor, not defended on American soil) and I think it'll be shifted to a Hoganite pretty soon (Anderson, maybe?).

I agree that they're going to have to dump some portion of the roster at some point; it'll be interesting to see what happens with that.

Rumors are that the March PPV, Destination X, will be an all-X Division show: according to this, "The past, the present, and the future collide in an all X-Division Pay-per-View." That's a really fascinating choice for them to make at this point in time. I can't help but wonder if someone is hoping for a low buyrate and thus an excuse to dump the X Division entirely. Hopefully the show does well.

Let's start with the good:
Desmond and Hernandez move on in the tournament. Maybe there is at least one person still pulling for a youth movement but I certainly wouldn't predict either one of these guys to win until I see the other half of the draw first.

Now the bad:
I may have said this once before, I don't remember, but at the end of the 2009 I would have given Daniels the World Title. It was clear TNA had a certain amount of fans and they would watch no matter what and those fans loved Daniels. So why not? If nothing else we'd get Daniels/Styles for a few more months. It would be a good way to show Daniels some appreciation for being one of the MVPs of TNA.

But as soon as Hogan and Bischoff signed on I figured Daniels was the one it would hurt the most. I figured, like kentish said, that Hogan and Bischoff would take one look at him and banish him from the main event. He has a weird frame, not a traditional wrestler look and even though I love the guy everything about him screams Indy promotion. That being said, I don't think he should have been jobbed so quickly. Obviously most of TNAs fans are still the same people so at least keep him near the top, but I figured Hogan and Bischoff wouldn't do that. At least get him the Curry Man costume back so he can be funny.

Yeah, AJ is small too, but he's like Mysterio that he's over too much to ignore it completely, although I don't expect him to stay at the top for long either. I wouldn't be surprised if Lance Storm was right about his recent commentary. That turning AJ heel with Flair is something he obviously can't do so it's a "push" that is purposely not going to work so they have an excuse to shuffle him back to midcard. Sort of like, say, an all X Division PPV.

I like Doug Williams as the X Division champion as well but I was really hoping that Homicide would take it from Red and get a push.

I also only think Anderson and Jarrett are adequate. I don't see personality in Mr. Anderson at all. Yelling all the time isn't personality. As for Jarrett, I think he needs some kind of stable to make him interesting. Not like a 20 man stable like in the old days, but maybe like Jarrett, Beer Money and somebody else (Petey would be great if he were still there).

Here's another logic flaw. Anderson makes an open challenge and Jarrett is booked into the match by Bischoff and Hogan. That's not how an open challenge works. If Anderson and Jarrett was going to be the main event then why not just have Bischoff and Hogan book the match? Why waste time with an open challenge?

Also, since when does "starting from the bottom" mean wrestling the new main event acquisition? Come on! I'm stupid. I never catch any of the logic flaws that everybody else picks out but even I'm seeing them now!

Actually, now that I think about it, TNA is great! TNA is so horrible that it has increased my ability of observation. Thank you TNA!

I can't believe people actually watch wrestling and expect logic and consistency. In 2010. Wrestling hasn't been logical and consistent in a LONG time and that goes long before Hogan and Bischoff showed up in TNA. And it's not going to change, so whining about it every week solves nothing except wasting your time watching a show you don't enjoy. Which seems counterproductive to me.

Call me crazy, but not only did I enjoy this show but thought they did a good job answering questions from last week.

Why did Mick bust Bischoff open off-screen? Oh right, Bischoff probably cut himself open enough to get a trickle going to fire Mick.

So why not fire Mick now? Well, Hogan is convinced he has a purpose.

What if Mick quits? We'll take the only people he's made friends with a blackmail him with them. Not like WWE is banging on the door for Abyss or Borash, so this actually makes sense.

Ok, so we have the whole Foley thing under control. WTF happened in that title match? Earl Hebner (who you'll recall was fired from the E because of selling shit) sold himself to Ric Flair

What? You mean Hulk didn't screw Kurt Angle? No no, he still screwed Angle, what with The Band attacking him right after Hogan was out of sight. Obviously The Band is still being run by Hogan, but it's in a Puppetmaster/Magnificent Bastard role this time.

Finally, what to do with the Nasties and the Dudleys? .......maybe they'll kill each other at AAO. (But I secretly liked this segment too...)

Basically, I enjoyed this whole episode with the minor exception of Ken Anderson trying to be The Rock circa 2001

Total agreement. TNA has been, for the past couple of weeks, very linear in it's storytelling. Having Hogan and Bischoff around to make (I'm assuming here...) Russo's writing coherent is really pulling this show together.

Bischoff cutting himself to get rid of Foley was the first thing I thought when the show ended last week

Now this is more crazy. I'm thinkig more along the lines of Hebner being used in a stupid way as if 'Hebner Screwed Bret!'. Vince and Shawn Michaels didn't 'Screw Bret', Hebner did it... and TNA has him. Why watch WWE when the guy who 'Screwed Bret' is on a different show now? You see, that's kinda stupid... but logical.

I don't think Hogan is running the band. I'm guessing it's Bischoff's doing without Hogan's authorization. Hogan want's to be the good guy who's putting the show in order, so why would he ant a group of thugs beating up on the employees? Also, did he not have them thrown out once already? Nash is already seeing that this version of Hogan isn't the same one who 'controled' WCW.

Even though I like the Nasty Boyz, I hope they are short term and the Dudlesy send them packng after the PPV.

Anderson is just not working for me anymore. He has not outlasted his gimmick and needs something different.

All around, this was a pretty good show. People may be bitching and complaining more, but looking at it another way, more people are starting to watch it JUST SO they can bitch and complain about it. The way I see it, Hogan is getting the job done.

According to Dizie Carter's Twitter (twitter.com) Thursday's show did a 1.4 and had more viewers then the show has ever done on a Thursday with 1,867,000 people watching.

Good work TNA, keep up the momentum.

Forget it Josh... it's Cerebustown.

That sounds like accepting mediocrity to me ... Professional wrestling (as an art form) can be more, SHOULD be more, and the big-time wrestling promoters shouldn't be excused for assuming the audience is too stupid to pick up on these inconsistencies, giving them free reign to shovel out dumbed-down garbage week after week. They should be called out for it (although truthfully, random posting on an internet message boards isn't going to cause some massive paradigm shift within the industry).

For all the bitching that has been done about Hogan, he is increased their ratings to their highest level. I think it proves the theory that the IWC's opinion is rather meaningless.
