Hated him in St. Louis but liked him on New York and Arizona. Hope his retirement goes well and am looking forward to the future movie based off his life and career =)

Don't the Cardinals still hold Warner's rights? A trade would have to be worked out. Even if he is a FA, I don't think Warner is the kind of guy who would say he's quitting and then go back on the decision when he could just easily sign with someone else.
Kirk, crackers are a family food. Happy families. Maybe single people eat crackers, we don't know. Frankly, we don't want to know. It's a market we can do without.

Originally posted by StaggerLeeWhat a sad way for him to end, in that blowout. But, he's been nothing but a class act his entire time in the league.
I always felt the same way about Dan Marino, a class act whose career ended on a blowout.
I thought if Warner came back, the Cards could make another run. I really think this team goes below .500 with Matt Leinart as its QB.
MacGruber! Making life-saving inventions out of household materials! MacGruber! Getting in and out of ultra-sticky situations! MacGruber! The guy's a freakin' genius! MACGRUBER!
Good luck getting that theme song out of your head

You're joke would work if Elway actually tried to pry his way back onto the team after making his retirement official. Better luck next time.
1) I wasn't talking about his retirement. You know what I'm talking about. Different situation.
2) It wasn't a joke. Fuck John Elway's selfishness.
Old Baltimore Colts fan? If so, Elway was a pro athlete. He made the right decision for his career. If the man's not even signed to the team yet, why the hell would he owe them ANYTHING?
Yes, and well, if a team drafts you, you don't shun them for a baseball contract and then end up playing in the NFL the next chance you get. That's just as bad as what Favre's doing.. why did he owe the Packers anything? He changed his mind, like millions of people do daily, they didn't want him back and he went elsewhere. I just didn't want a topic about Warner turning into another Favre discussion really.

Again, I ask, why not? Elway owed nothing to the Colts. He didn't ask them to draft him. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled an Eli Manning and warned them NOT to draft him.

Whatever Favre has done in the past (and probably will do again in the future) regarding retirement is completely different from Elway's situation. Favre was a member of the Packers (and later a member of the Jets) when he made his retirement announcements. As a member of those teams he owed them at least some amount of courtesy. Elway wasn't a member of anything other than Team Elway. You can be pissed that Elway didn't want to play for your team, that's totally reasonable. Doesn't mean Elway owed your team anything.
Happy trails to a class-act and a real-life rags-to-riches story.
He owns the 3 best passing games in Super Bowl history, 2nd most 300-yard games in playoff history, and has a hand in other accomplishments as well.
I think the Cards will not do as well next season unless they get an efficient passer.
There are some arguments whether or not Kurt Warner deserves to be in Canton, Ohio, but I think he has done enough in his NFL career to be enshrined (not to mention he has 2 regular season MVP's, a Super Bowl ring, and a Super Bowl MVP).
I tip my hat off to you Kurt Warner for a job well done on and off the field.
People keep saying, "there's some argument over whether Warner is a Hall of Famer," but I haven't seen anybody argue that he's not. Because he absolutely is.
Six quarterbacks have won two NFL MVP awards:
Johnny Unitas Joe Montana Steve Young Brett Favre Peyton Manning Kurt Warner
I hated Warner when he was on the Rams. In the NFC title game following the 1999 season, he completed a ridiculous touchdown pass to Ricky Proehl that proved to be the winning score, and it took me years to get past the hatred that resulted. Once I did, though, I realized this guy was an awesome player and a lot of fun to watch.
Anybody who doubts he belongs just doesn't understand football. He's basically three minutes of Super Bowl away from having three rings. Pats beat them on a Field Goal and Big Ben beats him with a pass in the last minutes of that game.
2 MVPs, 100 TDs with two different teams, not to mention, he brought two teams that were complete laughing stocks and took them to the super bowl.
I think Warner deserves to be in, but he did lose the starting job three times (Bulger, Eli, Leinart). He went from below the borderline to shoo-in in the last two years.
It is the policy of the documentary crew to remain true observers and not interfere with its subjects. Football is a cruel, cruel mistress.
Bulger got the nod basically because he was young and the Rams didn't want to lose him. Plus the team was in decline and the O line couldn't block enough to allow Kurt the time he needs.
If you draft Eli Manning and give him the boatloads of cash you do, you don't sit him on the bench behind anybody really. Same with the Leinert situation.
I don't know how you can say that when even now Leinart is still playing under his rookie contract, yet obviously benching him was the right decision.
Aaron Rodgers sat for two years, and any Packer fan will tell you he looked absolutely horrid in the preseason those two years. It's absolutely possible that Leinart is simply a bum and Rodgers is a star, but it's also possible that the team situation played some role in how things turned out.

One point to consider is what the players want themselves. Some fans want a playoff so that we can have a definitive number one team. Some fans don't care about that and like the current bowl system. But what about the players?
